Stayed for a quick weekend and everything was as it was described. Downtown Traverse City was a quick 15 min drive away. The lake was beautiful and relaxing.

Misleading Listing, Unclean Conditions

Reviewer Comments:

Beds in lower level described in photos as queens are actually fulls (doubles). Bedding on 2 of the 4 beds was dirty when our group arrived, so we had to start vacation by doing laundry, and ultimately got to bed later than we wanted (waiting for bedding to dry) on the first night. Our group also found the need to run most dishes through the dishwasher before we could use them, as many cups and glasses were filled with dust, and many plates and bowls were grimy from inadequate cleaning. The cleanliness of the whole house was sub-par - it's time for a thorough deep cleaning over there! (Perhaps it's in better shape after spring cleaning at the beginning of the season and just dirty by the end of summer?) Cobwebs and major dust in windowsills and under all beds and furniture. The red picnic table is an accident waiting to happen - falling apart and in very unstable shape. The slope in the backyard is not properly represented in photographs or mentioned in the listing. The slope is fairly steep and begins very close to the fire pit, which is hazardous to gathering around the fire with a group, and only becomes more of a danger as the sun sets. Also unmentioned is the low ceiling in the basement level. Half of our guests couldn't stand up straight in the basement shower, the ceiling is so low in there. Other areas of the basement require crouching to avoid hitting one's head (which if you aren't used to having to do, can lead to a couple of bumps before you get used to walking hunched over). Overall the property is fine, the location is great, but our group felt like we'd been tricked into staying at a place that was overrepresented in the listing and underdelivered in real life.

Reviewer Comments:

This house is in a great location but with the amount we paid for the week you would think they could afford to update it, and this house needs some serious updating. It is so old and musty. Good thing we were outside the majority of our stay.

Reviewer Comments:

My only suggestion is to put non slip strips and a hand bar in the bathtub/shower. Plus a few more kitchen towels and bath hand towels would have been nice. There was also an ant problem in kitchen. Other than that, we loved the house and the location. Would definitely rent it again.

Reviewer Comments:

Overall, we had a good stay. The house is in a good location for visiting the wineries, dunes, boating, hiking and Traverse City. It was clean. However, it is an old house and could use some updating (bathrooms especially) and minimally mattresses should be replaced. Staff was friendly and called before our stay to see if we had any questions. I would recommend providing guests with two keys - especially when multiple families are staying. Also, there is no air conditioning so be prepared when it is hot outside.

Owner's Response: We are so happy that you had a good time come back, We will make the suggestions about the updates and we suggest keeping the keys in the lock box that way you never lock yourself out, we tried the other way and people went home with them or lost them and it was just too hard to keep track of the keys to the property. We love our guests and hope you come back and stay with us again soon!
