Very Nice Home

This home was perfect for us. It was clean and comfortable. We were able to get places easily by car. The owner is great. It was easy to communicate with her. I would recommend this home to anyone.

Fantastic Vacation

This house is absolutely perfect for a vacation. The space is ample and the surrouding peaceful and serene. It is close in proximity to shopping and the beaches. The bedrooms are all good size and comfortable. The kitchen is adquately supplied with all the items you may need. We all love the outdoor shower when we return from the beach. The outside deck is roomy and the landscaping is done welll. I can't wait to return again.

Great Experience - All Around

A group of 6 of us stayed here for a Labor Day weekend wedding and it was perfect. The house itself was very welcoming and comfortable - it served us well. The house was stocked with everything you would need - anything from pots/pans and a coffee maker to beach towels and a closet full of board games. The outside deck was a plus; since we had gorgeous weather for our stay, we utilized this quite often. The location of the home is close enough to downtown Oak Bluffs and the main road to take you pretty much anywhere on the island, but also secluded enough that you can "get away." We brought a vehicle, so I cannot comment on the proximity to public transit, but I would venture to guess that it is within walking distance. Cynthia was tremendous at communicating and answering any questions immediately and she was kind enough to leave welcome information on the table for our arrival which included quite a bit about the area, certain suggestions and house instructions. She was also very clear and concise in her instructions regarding the house and who to contact in case of emergency, etc. We hope to make it back to the island in the future and will certainly contact Cynthia should we return.

Enjoyable and Relaxing

This is our second time renting this property. It is centrally located in Oak Bluffs which makes it easy to get around the island. The house was clean and stocked with all needed items - beach cart, chairs, towels etc. The deck is heavenly and relatively secluded. The interior of the house is roomy and can easily accommodate six people. Our group is looking forward to returning again!

The Perfect Place!

Since I was born and grew up on the Island, I return often to visit with family. When it is just my husband, Bruce, and I my sister has the extra room for us. This year my son and family came too which added 4 more bodies! Cynthia's home was ideal with it's 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. The 2 boys shared the room with twin beds which made bedtime much easier than a shared double to say the least! This home is right next door to my sister's house plus conveniently located to the preserve, downtown Oak Bluffs, many bike trails (3 bikes were available for our use)and beaches. We had the family over for dinner one night and the deck easily accommodated the extra people. It was perfect for us in every respect!

Comfortable and Lovely

This home actually exceeded our expectations. It was lovely, completely comfortable, and well equipped. We came to Martha's Vineyard after a hectic trip to NYC, with many commitments and responsibilities. This house provided the serene surroundings and creature comforts for us to recharge, yet still afforded easy access to Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven. In fact, there was an excellent balance between privacy and quiet in the property itself and easy access to the restaurants, beaches, and shops of the two neighboring towns. The owner made it clear that she was available for questions or help, though she had anticipated and provided for all of our needs handily. We would definitely recommend the property highly.

Fantastic property

We enjoyed a wonderful week at Island Serenity. The house was large and airy and fit our party of six plus perfectly. The owners called us to make sure we had settled in and had everything we needed. They also left information forus which was extremely helpful. We are outdoor people, so we especially enjoyed the spacious deck as well as the quiet surrounding of the property. The bedrooms were good sized and each had air conditioning which allowed for a great nights sleep. I would definitely return to this home and would recommend it to others.

Hope to Return!

I just spent a perfect week at this property, which certainly deserves to be called "Home Away." The house is well-located for all the down-island towns, is in an extremely quiet neighborhood (one-way street abutting conservation land), is nicely landscaped, and is meticulously clean and well-cared-for. I was by myself and did not need some of the amenities provided, but most families would be very comfortable here, with plenty of space both in and out. The owner was very accessible both by email and phone and responded immediately to a question I had about the operation of the TV. She left good written instructions and also contacted me during my visit to make sure I was having no problems. This is my first experience with the Home Away online rental service, and I found the whole process very easy. I received my damage deposit back almost immediately, which was a nice surprise. I'd return to this home in a minute!

Everything you need for a great vacation

This newly updated home is convenient to both Oak Bluffs & Vineyard Haven. The large open layout is very inviting, all of the bedrooms & closets are spacious as well. We thoroughly enjoyed the wrap-around deck that overlooks the back yard & the outdoor shower is great for a post beach rinse off too. This home has everything you need for a great vacation. I would absolutely recommend this property to a friend! We plan to return to this home again this summer!

Wedding Weekend

My fiance and I along with 2 other couples (and a single friend) stayed here for a Labor Day weekend Wedding in Oak Bluffs. When we arrived Wednesday night, we smelled a terribly strong cheese smell in the kitchen/living room (luckily not in the bedrooms), but it was already so late we had decided to just go to bed. Thursday was filled with MANY pre-wedding festivities so there wasn't much time spent in the house. By Friday morning, the smell was unbearable. We were out of the house by 8am to get ready for the wedding, unfortunately the bride and bridesmaids were supposed to use our house to get ready but the smell was terrible so we had to go elsewhere. The groom and the boys got ready here and I can't even explain how this house smell was the talk of the weekend! The smell was pretty terrible. Saturday morning I reached out to the owner (shame on me for not telling her sooner), but I felt bad and was so busy as I was the Maid Of Honor. She was very nice and tried her best to resolve the issue, but the boys had pulled the fridge out and it seemed as though something got stuck in a vent and went bad (which isn't something that can be fixed easily). The owner was off the island so she sent her family to check on the house and they confirmed with her the smell was AWFUL. We cut the trip a day short and left on Sunday, Saturday night we spent on the deck and we were visited by the police (although very nice) because the house is close to neighbors who complained they could hear us talking and it was late. Unfortunately the weekend didn't go as planned as for catching up with old friends while we cook, watch movies, and relax during down time between wedding events. BUT the location is fabulous and the owner was very nice. She refunded us 2 nights for the terrible smell. If I could take it back we would've stayed elsewhere... As a group of 7 people we couldn't hang on the deck because the neighbors complained about the noise (of us talking), and couldn't hang in the house because of the awful stench. Also, the bikes are very old, I had to replace a tire at Anderson's. If you stay, be sure to rent your own.
