About Kathy Norwood
My husband and I built Eden House in 1975 on family property. Our families are both local and we are descendants of the first residents of Mount Desert Island. We are very proud of our island. It has been a wonderful place to raise a family and our children live close by!
Kathy Norwood purchased this House in 1975
Why Kathy Norwood chose Bar Harbor

It was better than we even hoped it would be. Nestled in the woods. The perfect getaway:)
We had a lovely experience at this house. We were greeted briefly by the owner and she seemed lovely then the rest of our stay it was all ours. It was fully stocked with any little thing you may want or need. It even had a side rail we used on the bed for our toddler. It was private and peaceful and but a short drive to Acadia National Park. There was road construction during our stay so it was slightly confusing but Kathy made a point to leave all the info we needed to make it as easy as possible. The beds were comfy, the shower was hot, and it was hard to leave. We would definitely stay here again. My only complaint was that the actual open ocean was far enough away that always required a drive which was not much of a complaint but at the house it felt more like a woodland vacation than an ocean vacation but honestly it was not far and it was lovely.
A Nice Place to Stay
We really enjoyed our stay at Eden House! The house was well-equipped and comfortable. We appreciated having a full-sized washer and dryer to clean our hiking clothes. Having a grill on the deck was a nice convenience. With early darkness in the fall, it was nice to have satellite TVs for evening entertainment. The setting in the woods, a ways back from the main road added to the peaceful and secluded feel, yet the location was convenient to Bar Harbor, Southwest Harbor, and Trenton for shopping. The owner was very easy to work with and we experienced no difficulties at all, before or during our stay.
Cozy Hidden Gem
This was our 1st visit to Maine. The reviews of this house are on point. The house is clean, welcoming, and has all of the amenities. The owner even leaves coffee, tea, blueberries, and pancake mix for your 1st breakfast. The property is beautiful and secluded, and our 2 dogs enjoyed it very much. The location is great. It is only a 15 minute ride to downtown Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. There are several restaurants and things to do nearby. We dined at both Mainely Meat and Sweet Pea Cafe and enjoyed both. We sampled beer at Atlantic Brewing Company and wine at Bar Harbor Cellars. We went on a scenic air tour with Acadia Air Tours and took several hikes in Acadia National Park. The scenery is absolutely beautiful, especially with the fall colors. If we visit Bar Harbor in the future, we would stay here again and highly recommend it.
Quiet and Cozy
Great place to stay if you want privacy. Everything was very clean and welcoming. It had everything we needed and it was nice that there were condiments available, as well as pancake mix and blueberries. If we come back I will definitely stay here again.
Perfect Getaway for my Family
Thank you Kathy and Bruce for opening up your house to us. It was such a cozy little getaway, and perfect for my little family. We traveled here with my 3 year old, and they had everything you could think of to accommodate not only the adults, but also babies/toddlers. It was equipped with a high chair, sippy cups, pack n play, games, movies, even a tree house outside! The house came with EVERYTHING we could possibly need; from pots and pans, silverware, plates, bowls, toilet paper, bed linens, towels, laundry detergent, trash bags...EVERYTHING. This truly was a great place to stay.
We were a walk away from a brewery (which my husband and I love breweries); however there was too much to be done in Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor (which is a short drive away) so we never made it there. This cozy cottage is also close to a bunch of lobster pounds/restaurants. So we definitely got our fill.
The hosts were amazing. Any questions or issues we had (which weren't many), Bruce and Kathy were quick to respond. I will definitely recommend a stay here to my friends and family!
Perfect place for my family!!
This lovely home is private but with easy access to everything Bar Harbor has to offer. We appreciated how clean and well kept this home was. Also all the extras Kathy left for us. ( Coffee, tea, pancakes, blueberries, spices, etc.) Kathy immediately responded to my message when I had car troubles and referred me to Island Towing, just a mile from the home. ( I recommend Island Towing as well) Some of our favorite places were Beal's lobster pier in Southwest Harbor and Schooner Head Path, Jordan's pond, as well as the other major attractions in the area. Bar Harbor is extremely dog friendly. I'm so grateful Kathy allowed our fur baby to stay as well. What a joy to vacation in such a beautiful place and have our dog with us. We hope to stay here again in the future. Thanks Kathy!
We are minutes from the Acadia Park entrance, Sand beach, hiking trails and ponds.
