About Steve Balay
We like to travel a bit ourselves and like to stay in suites where we are self sufficient but have the option of feeling like we are in a hotel. Like to go grocery shopping, pick up what we like and have the option of going to the fridge to get what we want and not have to go out or order in. Thought that would be a great idea for others coming to stay in this great city. Born and raised here. There is always something to do in edmonton, from the year round festivals to regular sites to go and see and shopping rivalling the most major destinations in north america. Old building not impressed with suite. We did not stay. Told Steve we wre leaving . He was
We had to track down Steve to get an e mail with the address which we did not get till noon the day before we were due to arrive. We had to google him to get the email. When we arrived we texted him to let him know he texted "thanks" and we were left standing in the parking lot for almost an hour waiting for him. I texted when are you coming and he finally told us to go to the front of the building and then finally he phoned with instructions to enter the building. We were unimpressed why did he not phone an hour earlier. The suite is old in an old building with a parking spot so tiny we could not get our luggage out. That was the final straw. We put the key back in the lockbox and texted Steve that we were not staying. We have used vrbo many times and this is the first time we were disappointed.
Early departure from rental
Property advertised "Nice and Quiet" with enticing balcony picture. Single mom and young child book extended stay. Property located very close to city police department. Continual sounds of police sirens and unsettling street fighting led us to keep doorwall closed, put in ear plugs while inside and eventually depart the property 25 days early.
Sorry that your situation changed after you arrived. We did discuss with you that we would consider a partial refund but also that the policy states that we are not required to. We understand that you may feel the need to give a poor review and you are entitled to do so. However the inaccuracies and exaggerations really aren't necessary. The Police station is 9 blocks away, a kilometre. They don't drive away with sirens blaring, those get turned on when they are out patrolling and when needed. Being that the building is on the edge of downtown, you are bound to hear sirens, police, fire and ambulance. You mentioned to us at the time that there were two people having a heated verbal argument at the front of the building, sorry for that disturbance but that is hardly "street fighting". This property gets excellent reviews and many returning guests. It turned out to be not a good fit for you and your situation. This is not a reflection on the building, any building in the downtown area would not have been a good match for you. The property description is accurate and the location is clearly stated and correctly mapped on the site.
The apartment was lovely and clean and I was very happy with my stay and the property
The apartment was well equipped and everything went smoothly getting in and leaving. Parking was secure and I felt safe. The building was quiet and the neighbours very nice. Evening view of the downtown core was lovely. Property owners were very quick to respond to any inquiries I had. I would recommend the property to anyone needing a longer term rental like I did as a home away from home.

Perfect for business use
We've rented 2 of Steve's condos for business use. Both stays were months long, and the guys staying there were very satisfied. Steve is quick to reply and is awesome to deal with and his prices are great, much cheaper than hotels. Both rentals have been clean and cozy and perfect for what we needed. Close to downtown and all amenities. I'd highly recommend staying at one of Steve's condos.
Visiting grand kids was excellent!!
We recently spent 9 days in Edmonton visiting grandchildren. We had stayed at Steve's place before and wanted to stay again because it was great last fall. When Steve heard we would have small kids hanging around there, he very kindly suggested another rental property he owned, also in the city center. We took him up on the offer and were glad we did. The apartment was bigger, had a beautiful west facing, large balcony with BBQ, an indoor pool, and all for the same price. It was excellent. There was enough room in the apartment for us all to visit, and the long hallway leading to the elevator was lots of fun for little ones learning to walk. All the neighbours we met in our ups and downs on the elevator were super friendly and really nice which was a bonus. The apartment had everything we needed, and Steve provided a playpen and child seat (which was a hit and doubled as a learning toy). Steve was very accommodating and looked after us very well. We accidently left a cell phone behind and he promptly put it in the mail to us the next day, awesome. Thanks Steve for your hospitality, hopefully we can stay at one of your places again soon.
Great location, just minutes to so much and across the street from the river valley and walking and biking trails. On the edge of downtown, with amazing views. So many must see and must do activities so close by.
