Peaceful beautiful setting and a comfortable, clean cabin. Hosts were very helpful and kind.
Very cozy cottage with great host
This cottage is very cozy, with a gas fireplace, kitchen amenities, car port, and very comfortable bed. The smaller space is perfect for a couple (and dog) for a weekend getaway. The view from the back porch of mountains was beautiful. We enjoyed downhill skiing at Wildcat Mountain, eating at an amazing restaurant recommended by Larry, and snowshoeing at close by hiking trails recommended by Larry. The owners house is on the same property, but hidden behind trees, so you have plenty of privacy. Larry was a very nice and accommodating host, and his wandering small dog was very cute and friendly. We’ll be back for another stay soon!
Our most favorite weekend getaway
This is our third time staying here and we most definitely will come again. Even if it’s just for the cookies;) The cabin is cozy and perfect for couples looking to relax, play cards, cook a nice meal, and do some hiking. We’ve only been in winter but I imagine summer and fall are amazing. Larry and Yvonne are super welcoming and helpful. They even let us use their snowshoes and since there had just been 10 inches of snow the week before, we needed them. I highly recommend this romantic spot!
We had a lovely visit to Larry and Yvonne’s Little House. It is a charming cottage, and they are very kind, welcoming, and knowledgeable hosts. It was adequately stocked for light cooking- they provided wonderful restaurant recommendations that we’ll use next time, but chose to stay in for dinner on this trip. We can’t wait to return for another relaxing getaway!
Larry the owner was great
Recommended to anyone getting away for a peaceful time
Since renting our property several years ago I marvel at the number of guests that come seeking refuge from the world beyond Puggy Huddle Lane. Many find it a retreat from their normal lives. Any time of year the cottage is super insulated both warm and quiet so you can discover the peace that comes with silence. In the normal sense of the word, "attraction" it seems our guests are drawn to us as much by the chaos in their own lives as by the quiet we offer. The North Country, as we know ourselves, travels at a slower pace than anywhere else I know. This is most true in the off season when tourists are fewer and further in between but it's also true during peak tourist periods relatively speaking compared with tourist destinations like the "Lakes Region" or the "Mount Washington Valley" .We love our community, Randolph; The spirit of the mountains lives here and has long heritage. There are well over 100 miles of trails in Randolph, The second, third and fifth highest peaks in New England are located in Randolph. (Adams, Jefferson and Madison) Some of our guests spend their time hiking while others come with that intention but never cross the threshold finding the serenity they've come for lives in the cottage itself.
In 2017 we installed a solar tracker which produces 100% of our electric needs. It compliments our philosophical orientation of living as self sufficiently as possible. We've been organic gardeners for about 40 years with a year round greenhouse in which we raise much of the food that we eat.
About Larry Jenkins
We have spent the past 36 years creating a self sustained lifestyle. Everything is owner designed and built, including the buildings, landscaping and gardens. We are both retired Larry, a former woodworker, and Yvonne a librarian. We enjoy our beautiful mountain setting and are excited to share it with you.
Larry Jenkins purchased this Cottage in 1976
Why Larry Jenkins chose Randolph
This cottage was built and used as an apartment while we were constructing our larger home on the same property, which was chosen because of the spectacular views of the Northern Presidentials. Our dream of converting it into a vacation rental is now complete.
What makes this Cottage unique
The property allows you to get away and yet be close enough to everything you need. The small town setting is friendly, welcoming, and includes many seasonal acitivities without the congestion of typical tourist destinations.
