Spectacular 3-Story 6BR CDA Lakefront w/Dock, Hot Tub on Secluded Powderhorn Bay

Bedrooms 6
Space 4,500 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 4 - 5 nights

About the property

6-BR and 4-BA. Sleeps 13+

Enjoy family time with spectacular mountain and lake views from the wrap around decks on the main and lower floors of this custom built cedar home. Fishing, water skiing, swimming and water sports just steps to the private dock. Located on calm and protected Powderhorn bay, it has the best water skiing and Kokanee/trout/salmon fishing on the lake. This area of the lake also has some of the best bicycle trails in North Idaho.

Located on Coeur d'Alene Lake, 'one of the six most beautiful lakes in the world' according to National Geographic Magazine. You'll find all kinds of wildlife in the area, including elk, deer, beaver, otters, wild turkey and moose. Often, the deer prance through the driveway. Right from your deck, you will see an abundance of birds such as Red-winged Blackbirds, Osprey, Great Blue Herons, Hawks and Bald Eagles!

This property is perfect for large families or multiple families. It has a large kitchen with island, a breakfast nook and a dining room that can seat 10. It also has 3 living rooms each with Dish TV and DVD players as well as free wireless Internet - and now Internet is unlimited, so enjoy Netflix on the TVs and use unlimited tablet and phone devices.

There is a master bedroom with king bed and loft living room on the 3rd floor. The kitchen, living room, 5-person hot tub and queen sized log bed room are on the main floor. There is a rec room and 4 more bedrooms in the lower floor, 2 with queen beds (one log bedroom set), one with two twin beds and another room with a queen/twin bunkbed. The main floor and the lower floors both have huge scenic wrap around decks overlooking the lake.

In the lower level we have a bar with a 3rd livingroom, a foosball table and a ping pong table. Having 3 livingrooms gives you privacy as well as separate rooms for the kids to play in and watch their own movies. By the way, we have hundreds of DVD movies in the house along with a lot of board games and little kid toys. We also have a badminton set and beanbag toss set.

This location is a serene, private getaway, while only being a 40 minute drive to downtown Coeur d' Alene. Harrison town, 10 minutes away, has the basic amenities you might find in any small town, including a grocery store, restaurant, boutiques and an historic bar (One Shot Charlie's) as well as bicycle, jetski and boat rentals.

You can swim, bike or hike right out the front door or you can enjoy 100' of private waterfront access. The Trails of the Coeur d’Alene is a scenic 70+ miles of paved trail for biking, walking, rollerblading and skateboarding. It follows the Coeur d'Alene River all the way to the lake, then follows the lake south to Worley, Idaho, near the Coeur d'Alene Casino.

Many of the lake's hotspots are less than 10 minutes away by boat: Harrison Gateway Marina, Conkling Park, Rockford Bay (Shooter's Marina) and Carlin Bay Resort. The beautiful Coeur d'Alene Resort and its floating green are about 30 minutes away by boat. You can also enjoy historic Harrison town and the old silver mining town of Kellogg - and both have great antique stores.

About Sam & Kerry Gridley

We purchased this beautiful home so we can spend more time close to family in Coeur d' Alene and Spokane (we live in Honolulu now.) Sam grew up in Coeur d' Alene and he has many fond childhood memories of swimming and fishing on the lake. Kerry grew up in Hawaii and considers Coeur d' Alene home.

Sam & Kerry Gridley purchased this house in 2014

Why Sam & Kerry Gridley chose Lake Coeur d'Alene

When we saw this house, we immediately fell in love with it. It's surrounded by huge pines which give it a lot of privacy and sets the mood for getting away from it all. The house was custom built in 1991 from thick cedar and the inside walls resemble sauna wood. We love spending time with our families at this house riding ATVs and hiking. We've fished Powderhorn bay for years and it's known as the best Kokanee salmon fishing on the lake and also known for bass fishing in the back of the bay. People even catch some good sized Chinook salmon out near the mouth of the bay.

Coeur d'Alene, Harrison and Kellogg, still have the sweetest, kindest and hardest working people. When we meet the folks in these towns, they welcomed us with open arms. The 'aloha' spirit does live in Idaho.

What makes this house unique

Bring the whole family! In fact, bring the family and your friends' families or have a unique family reunion or wedding/anniversary celebration in this extra large house. We hope you love our home as much as we do!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Relaxing family vacation

  • 5 of 5

Loves the house and all the amenities. The lake view were incredible every day and the sunset views were amazing every night. We had plenty of room for,our 3 families (18 people) and some hung at the lake all,the time, while others went biking at Hiawatha Trail and some went to Siverwood water part. All had a memorable time!

Great family reunion spot!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in this home. It was in a perfect location for us near the cute town of Harrison, with Rockford Bay, Carlin Bay, etc. nearby. We had 16 people stay in this home and it was plenty of room for all. Only our 3 youngest girls slept on couches or an aerobed. There was lots of room and the private dock was really nice. There are quite a few stairs to get down from the house to the dock so be aware if you have older folks in your crew or person with a disability. There was every kitchen appliance, utensil, gadget you could think of, beyond most any rental i have stayed in. It made meal prep nice and we ate there most days. There was plenty of bath towels provided as well as many beach towels for use during your stay. It is a bit of a jog down a windy lake road from I-90, but when you are on vacation and staying a week, it wasn't a big deal. The owners were in a home close by, but they were very friendly. They answered a few of our questions, provided great info and were on their way. They were not on top of us or anything. We were given the privacy you would expect and appreciate in a vacation rental. Also, when we walked through a screen door, Sam provided us new screen and tools and my handy brother in law fixed it very quickly. Thank you to Sam and Kerry for thinking of everything in your rental home!

Great place for family of all ages

  • 4 of 5

Everything we needed was there.

Kitchen equipped with every pot, pan, appliance, utensil.

Hot tub a huge hit with adults & kids.

One more table game would have been nice(ping pong,?) but foosball kept most everyone happy.

TV on main level allowed sports & lots of channels for kids & adults. We spent most of the time outside, but one Seahawks pre season game was on during our stay, 12's appreciated the coverage.

Lower level teens watched vids late night. Huge selection.

Wifi available, but limited gigs, unless you want to pay for more.

AT&T and T Mobile very limited. Verizon reception good.

The boat dock was the place to be. We had our boat for tubing and boarding. Couldn't ask for a better set up. Chairs, towels, and a few water 'noodles', but we brought our own floaties & toys. The kids played off the dock all day.

Very convenient to Harrison for boat gas & a few groceries. Bring your own food. We shopped at Costco & Safeway in CdA on our way out.

Overall great stay. We like being out a bit and felt privacy without isolation.

Very large, accommodating home with all the creature comforts of home!

  • 5 of 5

If your looking for a family get away, this is it. It has ample spaces for all your friends and family to spread out and be comfortable. It is well stocked, comes complete with a movie library, and has great lake frontage and dock space. I would highly recommend it!

Best summer vacation ever!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was perfect for our group. There were 6 adults and 9 children and there was room for all of us. All of the kids had a great time and the adults had time to relax. We loved being right on the water. It was unanimous that this was one of the best summer vacations we had all had. Thanks so much Sam and Kerry for sharing your beautiful property with us.
