About Roxanne

The owner of Aloha Ocean Hideaway is a published author and artist whose latest publication has recently been released, 'ISLAND WOMAN' and is available online and in major bookstores. She is a forty year resident of Hawaii and owns and operates an organic coffee farm in Capt. Cook.

Roxanne purchased this house in 1986

Why Roxanne chose Kona Coast

We purchased our lot and custom built this oceanfront cottage as our second home. We picked the location for its pristine ocean, privacy and clean environment. It is the perfect spot to write, paint, swim and relax by the sea.

What makes this house unique

Close proximity to the ocean, snorkeling and swimming. Incredibly clear water and abundance of tropical fish. Sounds of the ocean and gentle breeze. Quiet, private and a great relaxing getaway! Ideal for an artist or writer's retreat. A diver's dream come true.

Beautiful secluded little Bungalow

  • 4 of 5

Trip Sept 2017

Great place to stay if you want to be away from everything. The bay right outside your back door feels like it is your own private oasis.

Toys were provided- kayak, snorkels, and fins. We took full advantage of the kayak

Little fact we found out by a local - the very long winding road to get to bungalow that feels like forever especially in the dark was made/paved by no other than Elvis!! He got tired of taking an hour and half to get to fishing village while filming Blue Hawaii :) Soon I will get movie again so I can see what the fishing village looked like in movie.

My only recommendations for house would be a couple of extra floor fans- still warm in September and a foam topper for bed (which could be rolled up and put away if not needed)

Quiet, Private and Relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our time very much the property is quiet hear nothing except the ocean waves coming ashore! If you are looking for a true getaway from the hustle and bustle this is the perfect spot! Yet within an hour you can be to any of the major sites on the island! The water is lovely steps from the door! A nice remote beach short drive and short hike away! Was perfect for us to escape all the craziness of life and enjoy some time alone!

What an amazing experience!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I could not have had a better vacation to the Big Island. This home is just as it is pictured - beautiful, comfortable, and right on the water. Roxanne has obviously put a lot of effort into providing anything one could need during their stay and we felt very welcomed and taken care of throughout our visit.

If you enjoy snorkeling I cannot imagine a better place to stay. You can walk right out a few yards from the back of the house and access the water where an amazing snorkeling experience awaits. We saw thousands of tropical fish, along with urchins, sea cucumbers, anemones, starfish, eels - you name it. There were also some beautiful friendly green geckos that joined us for breakfast on the expansive back deck every morning.

The house is also well-situated for exploring around the whole island of Hawaii. We went all around the island from Kona to Waimea to Hilo to Volcano and so on.

I can't say enough about what a fantastic experience we had on our vacation, and our experiences just there at the house were a big part of that. A truly magical place! Thank you Roxanne!

Best snorkeling around.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I finally got to have a honeymoon and we couldn't have picked a better place to stay. The "cottage" was well set up and spacious, the view was beautiful and the snorkeling was the best we experienced on our trip. We even had a pod of dolphins come into the cove for a couple of mornings.

We did have a problem getting the regular TV to work but the Roku was working and it kept us from watching all the depressing news :)

The lighting was a little dim, tho romantic it was a little tough getting your contacts in in the morning.

I would definitely come again.

Enjoyed the Ocean Hideaway!

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I truly enjoyed our week-long stay at the Ocean Hideaway. Supreme ocean views from both inside the screened window-wall living area and on the spacious deck. It's a well-furnished 'cottage' or large studio/small home space. Beautifully decorated with a comfortable and quiet bed(2 that is). Great water pressure and temp. Plenty of towels and water gear available. Friendly house geckos who frequently visited. Quiet location right next to a ocean put-in, which we snorkeled from several times. Getting out of the water can be tricky here, though. Lots of lava bed scenery surrounds. Pretty remote situation, needing to drive :20 to Captain Cook area or south to Ocean View for groceries or restaurants, etc. We brought in our own food supplies and cooked many meals ourselves, often using the grill. If you want a serene spot with terrific ocean views and sunsets and don't mind driving to get stuff on occasion, then you'll enjoy this rental. Could've used an outside garbage can to remove kitchen waste without having to haul to nearby transfer station. Need a mirror near shower/tub and above the bathroom sink.
