We had a most peaceful week in Maine. The setting of the house could not be any more idyllic. We bought live lobsters and cooked at home each day. We tackled hikes in Acadia, biking the carriage roads and a beautiful three hour boat charter from Bass Harbor. We would definitely return

A wonderful house with a fantastic views to the water, woods and a rocky beach to explore, and you can walk to Thurston’s.We had a fantastic stay and the house had everything we needed and is close enough to the park that it’s easy to get anywhere, but far enough to escape the crowd.

We absolutely loved our stay here. The ocean view is incredible and truly can’t be beat. We especially enjoyed walking to Thurston’s Lobster Pound for dinner and found the location perfect for exploring Acadia National Park and other destinations around Mount Desert Island.The house itself is exactly what you hope for in this area—a charming cottage-core dream. It was cozy, comfortable, clean, and had everything our family of five needed for a relaxing vacation. There were plenty of blankets, supplies, and thoughtful touches that made settling in effortless.We would absolutely recommend this home to others and would happily stay here again. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish.

Location and ocean view are spectacular! Home is old but very clean. 2 of 5 adults suffered bad allergies that they thought were due to mold in house which, if so, might simply be due to the house’s ocean front location. My lower rating is due solely to the following. Some hosts make you feel like welcome guests - some make you feel like unwelcome potential vandals who need to be watched, threatened and heavily regulated with rules, more rules posted all over the house, tone, criticism and accusations. My review of my last rental was over the top positive purely bc the host graciously made his guests feel truly welcome. Rather than go into details I will simply giver the host the benefit of the doubt by saying that I think this host loves her house bc it has a strong personal history for her. But she ought to keep it for herself if her attachment to the house renders her distrustful and ungracious toward her guests.

Thank you Lisa for your feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed our house location and found it very clean. I'm sorry if the house rules or tone made you feel uncomfortable. My goals are always to make guests feel welcome. I take cleanliness very seriously and always make sure the house is thoroughly clean between rentals. I haven't found any evidence of mold. I've reviewed the signs in the house and have decided to keep the ones in the laundry room and on the Anderson windows upstairs for guests safety and to protect the property. Wonderful stay!

My family of four loved our stay in this home! Very clean, comfortable and location on the water can’t be beat. Easy drive to Acadia, and we also enjoyed hiking trails on the quiet side of MDI. Having Thurston’s Lobster Pound in walking distance was the icing on the cake.

Beautiful, cozy, and secluded

We loved this property. Tucked away on the quiet side of the island, but can still walk to get lobster. The private rocky beach was perfect.

a great place to get away from it all

We had a great stay at the house and enjoyed the wonderful views from the deck and upstairs bedroom. The house has a fantastic location right on the water. Our host was very responsive to all of our questions.

Tracy’s house is lovely. The beds were comfortable, the home is well equipped and super clean. Everything functioned perfectly. We loved the location for its privacy, the shoreline, and proximity to Acadia. The house is full of personal touches, artwork and antiques. Tracy had great suggestions for local restaurants and places to visit. We loved walking to Thurstons.

Great location, very comfortable

Amazing location directly on the ocean with miles of shoreline to explore. Very well equipped kitchen and comfortable furnishings. The owner was most responsive. Walking distance from Thurston’s with the best lobster roll on the island.

Perfect Maine getaway

Really enjoyed our stay. House was as advertised... right on the water with cottage charm. Very clean and spacious enough for our family of five. My wife enjoyed coffee on the deck overlooking the harbor in the mornings. The kids loved exploring the rocky coast for sea glass, shells and little sea creatures in the evenings.

Nice setting and house, quiet, close enough to everything

Nice 3BR - a bit rustic but fitting for the area. Great front porch. Maine the way it should be. Property is right on ocean and very close to a great lobster restaurant. Good internet, nice owner, fair cell service.

View is amazing. Beds are comfortable. Kitchen is very cluttered but has everything and much more than needed. House a bit dark for our tastes… very 1940-50 Maine cabin style

We have updated the level of lighting with higher watt bulbs and three way bulbs ant eliminated much of clutter in kitchen cabinets and reorganized them.

Million dollar views and cozy home!!

Enjoy the "quiet side" of the island with exquisite views right outside your bedroom window. The rocky shore is a wonderland for kids to explore and see crabs and other sea life in tide pools. Comfortable home has everything you need and instills that quintessential feeling of a Maine cabin. Our family loved it and would return in a heartbeat. Walk to Thurston's Lobster Pound for the best lobster roll on MDI.

Wonderful Place.

The pictures do not do this place justice. My family of five were there for about a week and all had a great time. The views, privacy and quietness were some of the best parts of the home. Not to mention the games that were available and fire pit down by the sure. Reine had the place stocked with whatever you needed and answered questions very quickly. Highly recommend it!!!!

Joe, So glad you and your family enjoyed your stay! Yes it is a very private and quiet spot at the end of our road and right on the point with all the sounds of nature. Glad you found use of the games as my family has over the years enjoyed playing cards and other activities to fill our evenings or when it is raining outside. It is nice to enjoy a fire outside at the pit when it is a clam summer night! Loved it!

Stayed here with our family for four days the week before July 4th. We had a great time. The setting is right on the water, which provided a cool breeze right into the house while the windows were open. House was well equipped with everything we needed to cook breakfast each day. Took us about 30-35 minutes to get to the Hulls Cove entrance to Acadia. Southwest Harbor was about 10 minutes away with several restaurant options. We loved the private location of the house and we were sad to leave when our time was up. Host provided excellent communication.

A Beautiful Stay in Bernard, Maine

My family and I have vacationed in Maine for over 20 years. This is the first time we rented a house and we are so glad we did! This house was spacious and welcoming. It was decorated beautifully and felt very homey. The deck on the back was large and accommodating: perfect for enjoying your morning coffee! Another bonus was the house's location. We were within walking distance from Thurston's Lobster Pound, our favorite restaurant in Acadia! We had a wonderful stay here and the owner could not have been more friendly or responsive. We hope to be able to return someday in the near future.

Excellent base for any trip to Mount Desert Island

We fell in love with this property! They call this the quiet side of the island—a fitting nickname. The only sounds were fauna rustling in the flora, and the occasional lobster boat heading out into the bay to catch our lunch. The house is comfortable and well-appointed, and though it's very private and feels secluded, it's quite close to many sites worth seeing (and lobster rolls worth tasting!). Reine was a warm and informative host, and we hope to stay in her home on our next trip to Maine. Highly recommended.

Beautiful peaceful well cared for Maine feeling cottage.

It was a wonderful relaxing vacation. The location was perfect, was only 35 minutes from Bar Harbor village. The back deck had a surreal feeling, listening to the boats go by while watching the bay. This is truly an oceanfront property footsteps to the rocky beach. My two kids loved beachcombing when the tide was down - especially at nighttime when it's dark. We try to make it out to the island that pops up at low tide it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. 3 minute walk to the famous Thurstons Restaurant- visitors that we're staying in the village of Bar Harbor were coming to Thurston's, stating it was one of the best restaurants in the area. We found a local lobster Pound operation selling lobster for $5/lb, big Clams $4/lb. needless to say we were in heaven. And the host of the cottage Raine, was wonderful and kind to work with. Would definitely return to the same place.

Colleen, Glad you and your children enjoyed your stay! We as children enjoyed walking on the island on our beach at low tide but it is hard as it only remains that low for a short period. I have tried other local restaurants and we agree that Thurston's has the largest freshest lobster rolls and fresh cooked lobster! we are so grateful to have this restaurant next door at the end of our street. Hope you can make a return visit in the future.

This was my parents' property. If it had not been for this property I may never have settled in the beautiful state of Maine. Even during the hottest of summer weather, it is usually very pleasant on the water here.

I have summered here all my life. My family came here every August from Long Island, New York. I remember the excitement arriving every summer, swimming at Long Pond, eating lobster, going to Jordan Pond, and hiking throughout Acadia's trails with my family and other relatives. Nice place to relax, unwind, smell the salt air, and pines. We arrived and immediately ran down to the beach to explore.
