This beautiful mountain retreat is close to myriads of activities yet located in a quiet and private area. You can fall in love with the tranquility of the mountains, or take a short drive and enjoy everything from skiing to swimming depending on the season! This newly renovated cottage has been our family vacation home and is only now being offered for rentals so it is spotlessly clean and no detail has been overlooked for your comfort. This lovely cottage is on a paved road that is maintained and plowed quickly during snowy weather so accessibility is not a problem. This 3 bedroom home is spacious yet cozy (1200 sq. ft.) with an open floor plan and big windows to emphasize the breathtaking mountain view and a wood burning fireplace where you can relax and watch the snow fall. There is something for everyone in the family to enjoy here!
There are 3 bedrooms for your use - one on the main level has a twin bunk bed over a futon that folds down to a full sized bed (sleeps up to 3). The two rooms on the upper level have a queen sized bed in one (sleeps up to 2), a twin and a full sized futon as well as a twin mattress that can be pulled out to accommodate another person in the other (sleeps up to 3). All mattresses are brand new and comfortable.
Our favorite things to do when staying here are only minutes away. From the house you can be at Deep Creek Recreational Area in less than 5 minutes. Deep Creek is a great place for riding ATV's (or snowmobiles in winter) and mountain bikes. You can also fish, wade or swim in the creek and jump from the rock cliffs - very fun!
Lake Arrowhead Village is well known for both beauty and charm and is only 5 minutes away. There are many shops and restaurants to enjoy, or you can tour the lake on the Arrowhead Queen Boat Tour. There is also a playground and amusement rides for the children. Festivals and concerts occur regularly for your enjoyment.
Lake Gregory is a short 15 minutes away and features water slides, paddle boats, fishing, swimming and a beautiful trail that circles the lake.
Skiing/snow boarding, tubing parks, ice skating, horseback riding, hiking, biking, swimming (weather permitting), sledding, movies, and so much more - all within a short drive from the cottage. Come and see for yourself! You will make great memories here as we have.
Keywords: Approximately 2 hours from most So Cal coastal areas. Minutes from Lake Arrowhead Village, skiing, hiking, swimming and more.
Cozy quirky place. Plenty of room for my family of 5.
Difficult to find at night so I suggest trying to get there before night fall.
Had an unfortunate event of almost not making it to Santas Village with our pre paid tickets due to ice on the residential roads since it's uphill coming out both ways. Overall very memorable and fun. The local market Jensens is also very nice and clean.
Great cabin in a good location. Had a great stay. Lots of snow when we were there. Areas to sled and play right in the backyard. Perfect for our family.
This is a very well kept cabin that's stocked with all the necessities for a small getaway. The rates are very affordable and worth every penny. The owner is always in contact and replies to emails and in a reasonable amount of time. I would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in the SoCal mountains.
My wife and I wanted to get away for New Years and we found this place kinda last minute. It's affordability was unbeatable so we decided to go for it. The owner (Karine) was really nice and quick to repond to our inquiries.
We had 6 people stay with us (3couples) and we made it work fine. There is a bedroom on the first floor with a bunk bed( bottom bunk is a double bed and the top bunk is a single bed. Bottom bunk mattress sinks in the middle according to the couple who stayed in it) which we considered the best room because it has a closet and dresser with a tv and a door...
There is the only one full bathroom and that is on the first floor. Now it states that there is three bedrooms which I guess it's true but when you walk upstairs there are two single beds opposite each other on each side of the wall and you walk between them to get to the other room which just has a folding sliding door. And in that bedroom is the picture of the bed you see that is posted. That bed is the nicest though. You pretty much only need to go up there when your ready to sleep. And if you get up often in the night you probably shouldn't sleep in the back room because you will walk right in between the other people and the floor does creak a little.
The deck got some pretty bad reviews and it is beat up but it's fine. I think it gets mentioned a lot because you have to walk up the stairs and on to the deck to get to the front door.
The interior is nice and cozy and that's what we wanted. Everything worked fine inside and we didn't have any issues. We didn't use the outside at all since it was winter and the temps were 40 degrees and the low was in the 20's. And if we did go outside it was to the very nice village center.
So overall... Nice cozy place, not expensive, don't recommend really young kids, older kids will work but outside area is small and not much to do, you can fit 2 cars along the road outside the home for parking (driveway is just to small), getting there can be tricky so follow the owners directions and you will be fine. It's really nice inside so just enjoy it and everything will be great!
My family and I stayed here 12/28-12/30. Nicely furnished, LOTS of thoughtful touches - plenty of outlets, supply of extension cords, extra linens, board games, dvds, video games, toys galore! Karine is a wonderful hostess, quick to respond to inquiries.
Here's something that someone's probably not commented on - we experienced a 4.4 earthquake and a few aftershocks where the epicenter was ~15 miles away...not something we wanted to experience in a mountainous rocky region, miles away from home. I'm happy to say the house is SOLID!
I'll have to agree with some of the comments about the deck needing replacement/repair - let's just say it's not a place to wear high heels ;-). Just watch your step, wear sensible shoes.
Despite our last minute plans, the owner was willing to work with us to see that we were able to rent this great cabin. She was available for questions and made it possible for us to get in with a minimum of fuss. Our two boys loved exploring the surrounding area and Deep Creek was amazing! Everything was clean and we had everything we needed to be comfortable. It was so nice to be away from everyday stresses and enjoy nature. I would recommend this cabin for families. We had a wonderful time.
