What an absolutely beautiful property! We stayed here during our daughter’s wedding festivities at nearby Bridle Oaks. Perfect location to walk downtown and owners were wonderful! Thank you again!
Beautiful home and great location near our son’s wedding venue (Villa Festa). Beds were comfortable, and the home was nicely appointed. Thank you for sharing your lovely home.
Unbelievable historic home a block from the Stetson Campus and just a few more to downtown. The home has its historic charm intact, while being upgraded to include modern kitchen and bathrooms. We loved the huge yard and outside deck.
The house was extremely clean, the neighborhood was very quiet, we felt safe and at home the whole time . We were there for my daughter’s wedding. We had family come over the house never felt crowded and there was plenty of space for the kids to run and play. They had the house decorated for Christmas and it looked amazing! I would highly recommend it!
We were in Deland for my daughter's wedding weekend. This place was wonderful, with some family also staying close by the porch area and yard worked great for others that stopped to visit during the time before the wedding. Beds were super comfortable, grill, ample parking, walking distance to the main streets of Deland. Great place all around. No issues getting answers to any questions from owner, highly recommend this VBRO home!Colleen
The house was an amazingly beautiful home from the early 1900’s. Lovingly restored and impeccably furnished. Walking distance to Stetson Campus and downtown Deland.
This house has obviously been a labor of love for the owners. It was clean, comfortable and well-appointed. It is in close proximity to the university and to downtown.Highly recommend.
Very nice historical home located within walking distance of the University and Downtown Deland. House had many beautiful antiques and was very pleasant to stay in. Would stay again in the future when visiting our family near by!
The beautiful house had a lot of history and was in a great location. Huge yard with mature trees and an orange tree. Easy walking distance to downtown restaurants and shopping. We will definitely be back to stay. Lovely host kept us well informed.
Overall was a great experience! This home has an antique vibe. For some of my family, it felt cozy and relax. For others, it was a house they needed to get used to based on the years the house had. From my visit, I know the owners were still tweaking some things. Gina was super super sweet and friendly. It was easy to communicate with her any of my concerns, and she was able to rapidly adapt to my family plan changes. I will definitely return if I’m ever in that area again.
If you are looking for a clean historic home with a large yard very close to downtown DeLand (with fun coffee shops!) and next door to the DeLand House Museum, this is it!If you are looking for a brand new home with sound-proof walls and floors and light switches exactly where new houses put them, this may not be for you. This is a home with charm and character. The owners keep this house very clean and well stocked with all you need for an extended stay. Enjoyed baking cookies in the baking/coffee nook. Had friends over for dinner, and the kids played outside in the large yard. The kids enjoyed the toys and books in the “mysterious”attic. Enjoyed walking downtown daily - only a few blocks away. Enjoyed the college being close, with lots of activities happening. There was a 5k early one morning right outside the house and then a large gathering Downtown with food trucks, etc. We drove to New Smyrna beach one day, maybe 40 minutes away. Overall, an enjoyable visit with friendly hosts that keep the house in good shape for its age.
I’m not very good at reviewing houses we have stayed in, but I wanted to review the “Family Reunion” house we stayed at in Deland because it was really nice. First, the hosts, Frank and Gina, are among the most gracious hosts we have ever had. The house was stocked and equipped with everything we could have expected and then some. They have done a wonderful job restoring this historic home in a modern comfortable manner but in keeping with its historic nature. The yard is quite large and provides some breathing room between other houses. It is very comfortably and tastefully furnished. As the description relates, it is very convenient to Stetson and downtown Deland. We also walked to the wonderful art museum as well as walking around the neighborhood, to admire the architecture in the other historic homes nearby. This a definitely a five-star house, but just a couple of notes. The stairs are a bit dark; it would be great to have more lighting for them. Also, there was sometimes a bit of traffic noise at night but that may have been because (I think) it was “Biker Week” in Daytona and there was some spillover into Deland. So you might want to pack your white noise device or have an app on your phone just in case this is a problem for you. (The wifi/internet at the house is great if you need to download an app while there.) But these are minor quibbles and I am happy to wholeheartedly recommend this house for a pleasant stay in Deland.
Frank and Gina Walker live in DeLand, FL. We met at Stetson University, had to move away for work for twenty years but returned to this beautiful area about fifteen years ago. We have four grown children and four grandchildren! We clean our rental home ourselves to ensure that every family enjoys their stay as much as we have enjoyed it with our own family!
Why they chose this property
This historic home is the best of Old DeLand! The two lots on which the home is built are only a block from downtown but offer enough space for numerous trees and a campfire! The home has wide porches for dining inside or out and lots of private spaces so the family can spread out. We appreciate being able to have the option to host large family gatherings or just walk with the gang downtown to access Persimmon Hallow Brewery, Whit's Frozen Custard, Tony's Candy Store, The Athens Theater, Tony's Pizza among the the numbers of dining choices!
What makes this property unique
This home has been loved and updated with all new plumbing, electricity and heating/air. Twenty-seven old-glass windows make it a bright and happy spot! While it retains its charm, it is sturdy and clean. The gas heater is very quiet in the winter months, and the home stays cool in the summer months.
