Overview

About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Come and relax at our home at Primehook Beach. Watch the dolphins in the open waters of the Delaware Bay from our second and third floors or the snow geese, grackles and gulls from our backyard that adjoins the Primehook National Wildlife Reserve with its acres of water. With three floors there is plenty of room for your family to spread out and relax. The top two floors were built in 2003 and the first floor has been remodeled. Our sunsets over the water are gorgeous.

We are across the street from the beach, a short walk. Enjoy bike rides in our private community or go for long walks along the quiet beach looking for shells and sea glass. You will quickly see why Primehook is such a gem. It reminds us of Nags Head, only much closer or Ocean City, MD how it was 60 years ago.

We have two bedrooms on the first floor. One with a king size bed, the other with a full. They share a bathroom with a tub and shower. There is bedroom with 2 single beds and a bathroom with a shower on the second floor. The third floor has a loft bedroom with a queen size bed and its own half bathroom. This bedroom has a magnificent view of the water. At night you can lay in bed and see the ships with their lights on anchored in the Bay.

In nearby Milton, about 9 miles away, we have a Food Lion, a

Walgreens, a Subway, a Chinese carryout, a Domino's and one of our favorites, the Miltonian Restaurant with Greek/Italian and American cuisine. For more shopping we have Lewes and Rehobeth south on Route 1. There is the Boardwalk in Rehobeth and further south, in Ocean City as well as historic sites, theatres, amusement parks, the incomparable Henlopen State Park on the ocean in Rehobeth and all kinds of experiences awaiting you at the shore.

We look forward to hearing from you to plan your vacation at our house in Primehook Beach. It will be our pleasure to help you have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Ask us to send you our rental agreement so you can book your rental while there is still time. By the way, no waiting for keys at our house, we have resort lock.

Options: We have a pet fee of $100 per pet per rental, a kayak rental fee of $150 which includes two sit on top kayaks, two life vests, two paddles and two wheeled carts and we also have a linen rental package of sheets and towels for $200. These are options you can add to your rental to fit your needs. Of course you are welcome to bring your own sheets and towels!

Thank you, Ron and Anne.

About Ron and Anne Anthony

Anne and I grew up in Northern Virginia, married and moved to the Baltimore area. She is a Medical Technologist at a local hospital and I am in the investment business. We have two wonderful sons, Mike and Nick. They are both attending Towson University. We have 2 other members of our family and they are Teddy and Riley, our very special Yorkshire Terriers. Anne teaches Yoga and Zumba while I like to work on old cars for fun. We hope you enjoy our home.

Ron and Anne Anthony purchased this house in 2011

Why Ron and Anne Anthony chose Prime Hook Beach

While we enjoyed family vacations in the Outer Banks for many years we prefer being much closer to home with many of the same benefits here in Primehook Beach. Away from the crowds and close to nature.

What makes this house unique

Water views in the front and waterfront in the rear gives us the best of both worlds. Having three floors especially with the high ceilings in the second floor gives us a wonderful feeling of spaciousness. Five decks allow all kinds of perspectives that enhance the experience. Being in Primehook Beach gives you quiet and peacefulness. You can walk on the beach and, many times, be the only one there. At the same time you are only about 20 miles from Rehobeth Beach and tons of things to do. For us vacations are about relaxing and enjoying the simple things, walking on the beach, looking for shells, surf fishing, bird watching, bike rides, long lunches on the deck. Its all here.

Notes:
Our house started out with one story. In 2003 the prior owner added the second and third levels so most of the house is only 9 years old. Our backyard has spectacular views over the Primehook National Wildlife Refuge and its waters. It is a 10,000 acre sanctuary and the sunsets are breathtaking. We also have second and third floor views of the Delaware Bay across the street. We are just across the street from the beach. Just beautiful! 4 beach chairs, 3 bikes

Beautiful, relaxing home, wonderful hosts!

  • 5 of 5

Ron and Anne’s home is the perfect place for a quiet, relaxing getaway. Walk on the beach, ride bikes through the marshland, bird watch on the back deck, watch the stars on the roof deck, have a big family dinner at the second floor dinner table... The kitchen has all the amenities - including spices and oils etc- that you need to make some wonderful meals. The beds are extremely comfortable. And the number of bedrooms and bathrooms is perfect for two small families or one large. Ron and Anne are also extremely accommodating hosts. We’ve been renting this house for several years and look forward to going back again!

Perfect House for our Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

The Lookout was an ideal home for our family vacation. The house is large enough for people to have their own space, and there were plenty of places for us to gather as a group. We loved watching sunrises and sunsets on the many decks, watching birds in the preserve, and sunbathing on the beach. The house was clean and well-equipped with everything one would need for a beach vacation. The bikes were a bonus! And everyone loved the kayaks!!

Ron and Anne were very responsive to our needs. All of our inquiries were answered in a timely manner. We look forward to returning!!

Relaxing Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My family enjoyed a very relaxing weekend at Anne and Ron's beautiful home at Prime Hook Beach. The house had everything that we needed. There was ample space for our 6 family members and dog to spread out and not feel like we were on top of each other. The decks are amazing and provide gorgeous views of the beach and sanctuary. Prime Hook Beach was great, too. It was my first time at this beach and, based on information that I had read about the beach prior to our arrival, I was expecting it to be more of a beach for just the dog to enjoy. I was wrong-- it was great for the entire family, the water was nice and warm and the sand was soft. We had fun checking out all of the horseshoe crabs. I would recommend water shoes when going in the water. We were so happy with our stay and hope to return to enjoy another stay at Anne and Ron's home.

A Unique House with Many Possibilities to Destress

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Prime Hook house for two weeks. What a cool house with many different places to either enjoy a great view of the bay or the Prime Hook Refuge or just get away from the other occupants to read or take in some sun. Access to the beach is just a short two minute walk across the street. And the beach is virtually empty, especially early in the morning when we we were out with our dog. Sunrises and sunsets from the rooftop deck are exquisite!

The owners are fabulous; they take pride in their rental home and have it well stocked with paper and cleaning supplies, recreational beach items, and other miscellaneous things that came in handy during our stay. When the microwave oven died during the middle of our stay, Ron was out to replace it within 24 hours. We could have easily done without it but he was on top of the problem and insisted that he wanted to have it taken care of immediately.

We love this section of the Delaware coast. While it takes a drive out to Route 1 to access restaurants and stores (Lewes, Rehoboth Beach, Milton), we would gladly exchange the peace and quiet of the Prime Hook and Broadkill areas for an occasional drive into town.

Our goal was to disconnect from the stress of life and our Prime Hook vacation did all of that and more.

Rent this place! You will not be disappointed.
