About Darcee Mond
Eben and I both grew up in Iowa and now spend our summers with family in the Midwest. Winters bring us to Silver Plume for our love of the mountains and skiing. Eben is a professional skier, and I am a yoga instructor, and together we coach the Loveland All-Mountain Freeride Team. We have two amazing sons and a third babe due to arrive Fall of 2018!
Darcee Mond purchased this Cottage in 2009
Why Darcee Mond chose Silver Plume
About eight years ago we decided to follow our hearts and move to the mountains that we love so much. Silver Plume, with it's laid back charm and easy access to all, is a wonderful home base. When the run-down cabin next door to our house came up for sale our parent's helped us restore it into a vacation home and rental. Gail and Joe - Eben's parents - are home builders, antique-rs and interior decorating masters. Together we gutted, insulated, roofed, straightened, cleaned, added, floored, painted and decorated the cabin and now we want to share it with others who love the mountains too!
What makes this Cottage unique
The mountains have so much to offer. The beauty, wildlife, wildness, skiing, back country touring, hiking, snowshoeing and biking are a few of our favorites. We've had the pleasure of seeing many Big Horn Sheep, Mountain Goats, a few brown bear, a couple moose and even one Lynx in our back yard, plus the area is known for the hummingbird migration. The hiking is fantastic, as are the views, and the cottage abuts National Forest. Georgetown is less than a five minute drive, Summit County is just twenty minutes, and Denver is only an hour away, each offering great restaurants and shopping. World class skiing is a ten minute drive and you will receive a free pass to Loveland Ski Area to use during your stay at Sunrise Peak Guest Cottage.

Great place for a ski trip
Great place for a couple or small family on a ski trip. Super easy access to ski resorts. Set in a rustic mining town and the house has a rustic antique feel with all the modern conveniences and cleanliness you expect today. Good diner options in Georgetown a mile away and the local bar called Bread, that’s a short walk to the house is a can’t miss on a Saturday night
Snowed like crazy the entire time we stayed so needless to say it was great skiing
Family Ski trip for 4
A wonderful way to bring in the New Year! The cottage was clean and cozy and provided our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 college aged kids)with a great home away from home as we spent our days skiing at Loveland pass. The 10 mile drive to the lifts was perfect! We played hard then came “home” to a warm fire, board games, and football in the updated TV room. An added bonus was seeing 8 mountain sheep on the rocks behind the house as the snow fell. It was a picture perfect vacation. We all had a wonderful time! A big thank you to our host for creating such a memory.
Quiet, quaint, in the heart of the Rockies
We loved staying at Sunrise Peak Cottage. My daughter and I enjoyed a short retreat at this 1890s cottage. The decor is so wonderful. Interesting period antiques made the cottage so fun to stay in. I felt like a stepped into the 1800s. While we were there we took a ride not he Silverton Georgetown Train and visited the Georgetown tea house, The Dusty Rose. Both were great fun. It was a true Colorado mountain town experience.
Amazing historic home, friendly neighbors, central location. The home had been everything we needed and more!
If you are looking for a relaxing , peaceful time in an old mining town in the Colorado Rockies, this place is for you. The home was built over a hundred years ago and filled with antiques to make it look like it was back in the late 1880's. Very clean and comfortable with all the modern conveniences. All the neighbors were very friendly. The front porch with comfortable chairs and the back patio were a favorite for drinking coffee in the mornings. Lots of places to visit in the summer. We came up to escape the Texas summer heat and the weather was perfect! We loved our stay and will be back again!
Ice climbing, mine tours, historic Georgetown Loop Railroad, hot springs, frisbee golf, 4x4 trails.
