We absolutely loved our stay in the caboose! We arrived late at night under a beautiful sky full of stars, which made pulling up to such a unique little place feel even more special.The caboose was cozy, clean, and such a fun and inventive place to stay. Our 15-year-old girls especially loved the loft—although we did wake up to a couple of feet sticking out of it the next morning! The bathroom was very nice, the shower was great, and the kitchenette had a wonderful assortment of everything we needed. We especially appreciated having the Keurig waiting for us in the morning!This was such a memorable stop on our trip and so much more fun than staying in an ordinary hotel. We only wish we could have stayed a little longer. We would absolutely stay here again!

Absolutely loved the caboose! Full of charm and information about the back story of that particular caboose and the C & O company history. Wish the 75 cleaning fee went farther than just a quick tidy. The patio needs weed whacking and the bed needs to be vacuumed under the mattress but other than that it was worth the price for all its thoughtful details with the railroad themed decor throughout the property. Definitely an experience we won’t forget!

Perfect weekend trip

We loved our stay at the caboose!! It was perfect for all the activities we had planned in Natural Bridge. The space was just so cool, when else will you spend the night in a train!

Great little unique family stay

We surprised our kids (6&9) with this unique stay. They loved it and wanted to take lots of pics to remember it. It was like an early camping trip (with a better bed) for us and we enjoyed a little fire outside.

Great Special Getaway

My family loved their special time at the caboose. We enjoyed the fire pit in the evening and loved that they got to sleep in an actual caboose. The caboose was stocked with everything we needed for our short stay.

If you enjoy unique experiences, this is for you. My father was a conductor on the PRR, so I grew up loving trains. This caboose was a perfect one night stay. Cozy, but comfortable for my husband and I. There are steps from parking to the caboose and steps into the caboose, so if steps are an issue, be aware. Great location to visit Natural Bridge and the surrounding area.

Girls trip

Wonderful stay. Be careful going to Panther Falls, slipped and brole ankle. We had zo leave early, hope to get back.The Palms restutant - nope. Pinky's Dinner is up the road with way better food.

A great experience!

Not only was this quaint and different, but the property both provided us with everything we needed for our long weekend stay and was right in the middle of everything we wanted to see in the Upper Valley. Lexington was just several minutes away as was the Natural Bridge Park. The grill and fire ring was put to good use by us in the evenings.

Our family of 2 kids and a teen had a fantastic time enjoying this adorable caboose home. While it was cozy, it had everything we needed to enjoy time together. Thank you!

Our host point of contact was responsive and courteous. The Guest Caboose was interesting and different. As an older couple the bed was unsatisfactory, requiring me to climb over the foot to enter or exit the bed. Insects were an issue and if the entrance door had a seal under the door the bugs would have had more of a challenge to get inside. We really enjoyed the railroading memorabilia and photos.

Caboose Review

It was quaint and nice. Got to get use to how small was for our family but we expect it somewhat and it was really cute. Had trouble with the hot water tank first night and they quickly fixed that the 2nd day. Loved our stay.

unique getaway!

It was as described! We knew it would be 'tight quarters'---and we were right! Very efficient use of space; all appliances worked well---except no toaster!!--very minor detail. Loved the outdoor seating and fireplace. Also the photos and books about Chessie, this specific caboose added to the charm and uniqueness. Impressive

Lovely caboose

We loved staying at the caboose. The weather wasn’t the best so it made using the outside patio and fire pit hard but we did get to enjoy eating outside Friday night for half our meal. The only thing I would suggest is to look at the gas grill, I think there’s a bee hive near the switch to turn the gas on and the grill top could use some cleaning. It did not deter us from having an absolutely fantastic weekend in such a unique and comfortable setting. We will definitely select this again our next trip down to the area.

Horrible experience for my family

The booking process was easy, but that’s where the good news ends. I drove my wife and 4 year old son 9 hours to this rental. Nine hours. If you have small children, you know this can be a huge task in itself. Once we arrived at the property, I left my family in the car so I could check the caboose and make sure it was safe. First thing I noticed was how messy and dirty the patio was. Fine, it’s outdoors and things get dirty. As soon as I opened the door, I knew I had been scammed. Immediately stepping on dead bugs, extremely hot and stuffy with no air on or any ventilation. I took a moment to walk through the entire caboose, and it was very upsetting. I knew my son was outside, bursting with excitement about staying in a caboose. I followed the trail of dirt and dead bugs from the front door to the back of the caboose where the main bed is. Live bugs crawling on the windows, floors and furniture covered in dead bugs. Dirt and hair all over the pillows on the bed, strange fluid in the sink that resembled blood or some kind of spit. Filthy trash can in the kitchen, the list goes on. I immediately left and contacted Vrbo for help, but I am STILL waiting on their so called care team to contact me. I was then left scrambling for a place to sleep with my family. We were in town for my daughter’s college graduation, so everything was booked or extremely expensive. If you are thinking about renting this place, please be aware of all this. It’s a huge rip off.

We had a great 1-night stay at the caboose - our kids (4 and 6) esp. loved going up and down from the cupola! The decor is perfect, and it has everything you really need for a night or weekend! The sleeping arrangements were a little tight - only because the cupola was stuffy and hot in summer (due to lack of venting up there - the rest of the caboose was nice and cool); that made it hard for the two kids to stay up there all night, which meant we were playing musical beds a bit. But that is really our only complaint, and we would still stay again but probably at a slightly cooler time of year. The patio was super cute for relaxing on. Yes, there are stink bugs here and there, but we have had those at every single place we've stayed in the Lexington area. Overall wonderful stay and very clean and well-kept property!

If you are looking for a unique couples' getaway, this Natural Bridge caboose is a great choice. The location is perfect—central to amazing hiking, wineries, breweries, and the historic, walkable downtown Lexington. We had a blast exploring the local museums and shops, and highly recommend breakfast at the Pink Cadillac!The property itself is a tight squeeze (we are a slim 5'9" and 5'4" and had to navigate around each other), but we actually loved how cozy it made our nights, cuddling up on the small couch for movies.The only areas for improvement are the cleaning, pest control, and storage. The cleaning felt a bit rushed, leaving water spots in the shower and an unchanged bug plug-in. There was also a major influx of stink bugs inside. While the manager warned us about bugs, we had to kill quite a few the first two days before they cleared out. Additionally, the property could stand to keep some drawers clear of extra sheets and items. Because the drawers were full, we had to live out of our travel bags, which were too big to store anywhere convenient.Despite these minor flaws, we got incredible photos, great stories, and a wonderful weekend away. We'd definitely recommend it!
