Star gazers and sanctuary seekers!

Unique rock masonry tells the story of a property in the family for 6 generations -- 1850 and a time when Indians defiantly called it their land, too. It's an oasis far enough from the city to hear only nature sounds, but just 20 minutes from Fredericksburg restaurants and Main Street wineries. Hang out by the firepit, grill and watch the birds and deer. Soak it up in the 6-person jetted hot tub and later lay back in hammocks for a panoramic view of otherwise hidden star systems. You're free of tall buildings, bright lights and urban noises. Bring a telescope if you desire, but an unforgettable dark sky experience is yours for the taking. Snap pictures worth saving.

Star gazers dream! From our seamless check in to our quick check out we enjoyed such a peaceful stay! The views seen down the long driveway are picturesque, as well as the views from the house. I awoke to birds chirping in the AMs and saw the various wildlife, plus the cows! Driving to and from town is a treat on these winding hilly roads. This house has amazing character and plenty of space. Everything was exactly as shown and described in the listing, and your host makes communicating a breeze!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this vacation home in Fredericksburg! The timing couldn't have been more perfect as we got to enjoy the stunning outdoor sky under a full moon—truly picturesque and serene. The home itself was spotless, uncluttered, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed, all in excellent condition. The host was incredibly responsive and provided clear, detailed instructions, making the entire experience seamless and stress-free. We’re already looking forward to booking another stay here. Highly recommend!

This house truly has everything you need for a relaxing stay! From pots and pans, to games and books, we weren’t wanting for anything! The hammocks were comfortable and sturdy — the view was incredible. The hot tub gave us no trouble. We can’t wait to book another stay and use the fire pit! This beautiful house is far enough away from everything that there was no road noise, no annoying lights, just absolute peace and quiet. We loved the cows coming in, and all the birds singing in the morning. The host provided clear instructions for accessing the property and WiFi, and was very pleasant to chat with! We had no issues whatsoever.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this property. The host was very pleasant to deal with and the property was exactly as described online. We had a wonderful time relaxing and catching up with our brother! The stars were amazing! The house was well equipped with fresh linens, comfortable beds and a kitchen with everything needed to prepare a meal. We will definitely rent this property again and recommend it to anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. A unique experience staying in this old stone house!

Perfect location

Loved where the house is located and its beautiful surroundings. We saw deer daily and even in the front yard one morning. Very peaceful and relaxing.

This was exactly what we were after! Total isolation, away from people and crowds. We loved the fire pit, sitting in the hammocks under the stars and counting the meteors, enjoying the hot tub - and we had the BEST neighbors: cows, goats, and coyotes! The house is fascinating - we walked around inspecting the old rocks, fossils, and quartz that made the home. If you want quiet and your own slice of Central Texas, this place delivers. I'll always be curious about what's behind those second story windows!

Glad you enjoyed your stay -- the seclusion and stars!! My late grandfather built the house, and the windows are just aesthetic -- and though it's an unexciting story, a dark insulated attic lies behind them. Perhaps Grandpa planned to add a room with sloping vaulted ceiling up there at some point. We'll never know his plans, now.

Wonderful retreat from the city!

This beautiful home in the Hill Country was absolutely perfect! The peace and quiet were amazing. We had everything we needed and felt completely secluded. It was spotless and everything smelled so clean. We can't wait to stay again!

We loved the charm of this older house and the wide open spaces. Seeing the stars were spectacular! We hiked enchanted rock and went into town one day.

Ranch House

Loved the property and location. It was a very tranquil location away from the traffic and noise of Fredericksburg. The ranch house had a historic look and feel. The host was very helpful and readily available. Wonderful fire pit and porch area. We sighted deer and other wildlife in the area around the house. We enjoyed our stay.

Early Thanksgiving with family

This property is very remote, which is what we wanted. My cousin lives nearby and we searched properties near their home. We were very pleased with our stay. The stars were beautiful from this property, and the firepit was very enjoyable.

We absolutely loved our stay at this remote location. The house was cute and clean. We really enjoyed the hammocks at night stargazing. The Milky Way was visible! Loved seeing the deer and cows. The quiet at night was something I will miss. We will be back.

Off the road haus

Did some wine tasting , some boutique shopping , some pacific war museum visiting the house was out of the city down a long dusty road . Very secluded , very quiet . Sat by the fire pit 2 nights . Very relaxing .

Star gazzing

It was a great secluded location. No lights around near by great for star gazzing and remote location experience. Our kids loved the open field to play and enjoyed the night camp fire spot. Sofa, floor and laudryroom sink was not clean properly. Otherwise it was a perfect getaway location.
