Mariposa Del Mar: Spectacular Ocean front Villa with private pool.

MARIPOSA DEL MAR is a stylish luxury property on a private oceanfront estate. PRICING includes the use of a car. Electric also included in price.

The villa has its own pool overlooking the sea. A brand new extra large pool deck for sunning, parties, or enjoying the sunset is a new addition for 2013. Recent landscaping changes have really opened up the spectacular view. The pool area also has a tropical bar with bar fridge, service area and full bathroom. Other features are a huge fully equipped gourmet kitchen, decks, hammocks, and entertainment center, everything you need for your stay.

The great room features a dining room that opens to the sea views and a plush, spacious, living room area for enjoying our large video library, music system or satellite TV. The villa also features an outdoor covered breakfast or drinks area beside a loverly cascading water feature. You will be instantly charmed by the attention to detail of all the various landscaping and seating areas of this villa.

MARIPOSA DEL MAR, the more traditional of the three villas, has three en suite bedrooms to sleep a maximum of 8. All bedrooms are fully air-conditioned with their own full bathrooms. The master suite has a king bed and extravagant bath tub. The 2nd bedroom suite has a queen and single bed, and the 3rd bedroom suite has a queen and a single bed.

VILLAS DEL MAR is a unique holiday property in that each of the three villas is within the walled estate. Each has it’s own separate entrance gate and driveway, pool and wonderful gardens. Mariposa del Mar villa is situated on the property in such a way that it has total privacy yet is close enough to the other two villas if you care to rent the entire property for your family get together or group vacation. INCLUDED, at no additional charge with any of the villas are airport pick up & return, kayaks, snorkel gear, ice, drinking water, maid service three times per week, lock boxes, internet, reading library, DVD collection, Ipod hook ups, reading library, music CDs, insect repellent, 24 hour security, on site staff for your assistance and more.

The villas are located in the quiet east end of the island away from all the cruise ship traffic, but have restaurants, grocery store, golf, scuba, zip line and the picturesque towns of Oak Ridge, Jonesville, Punta Gorda and Camp Bay near by.

The GUAVA SUITE is available as an add-on to Mariposa del Mar or Fuego del Mar -- just a short walk through the gardens.
This suite contains one queen size bed and two single beds to sleep a maximum of four. The suite features a full sized bathroom with stone shower and large dressing area. It also comes with three ceiling fans, a mini fridge, coffee maker, satellite TV, wireless internet and lock boxes. Housekeeping is provided three times a week.
The large private deck overlooks the gardens and soothing lily pond. It has two Adirondack chairs and a hammock for relaxed enjoyment of your morning coffee.
Price $500 per week.
(Low season $300 per week)

SERVICES: The villa has a spa on site as well as a 28' boat available for charter. This property is unique in that we offer as much or as little service as you want. Staff is always available for catering, chauffer service, laundry, extra maid service, help with kayaks and much more. There is no need to reserve services ahead of time in most cases since the staff is 'on call' for you. Beautifully, lush landscaped grounds are maintained in a natural state with several water features. Soothing pools and small cascades dot the property.

SERVICES AVAILABLE
SPA TRANQUILDAD: Indulge you body and senses with our great selection of spa services. You will find our prices very competitive and treatments are very professional. Two treatment rooms, bathroom with stone shower. Private, tranquil garden setting. Prices for villa guests start at $45 for 1 hour massage.
BOAT CHARTER: Shaya Manzi is our 28', twin outboard boat available for fishing charters, day trips to nearby secluded islands and beaches, snorkeling and sightseeing trips. Price for villa guests is $130 an hour for sight seeing and snorkeling. Includes snorkeling gear, ice chest with ice and fuel.
CATERED DINING: Our chef can prepare your breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Service includes setting the table, cooking and serving, and clean up. Price for group of 6 or less: breakfastand lunch $35, dinner $45 (does not include cost of food). Add $5 for each additional person.
PIZZA PALAPA: Property has an authentic word burning pizza oven so you can get creative in designing your own pizza. Dine under the palapa at the oven or the staff can serve them in your villa. Cost is the same as catered dining.
CHAUFFER SERVICES: To really relax and enjoy the island, a chauffeur is available at reasonable rates. Sightseeing, an evening out for dinner and drinks, or shopping trips are just some suggestions. Cost: DAYTIME: $25 for 4 hours or less. Each additional hour $5. NIGHT $55 for 5 hours or less. Each additional hour $10.

GOLF CLUB corporate membership. No green fees. You pay only cart fees and rentals. Arrange tee times with Villas on site manager.

Every was perfect! We literally got off the plane, Oliver already had all 5 of our bags pulled and ready for our ride with Derrick. Literally everything we needed was provided by the owner. We have syayed in rentals all over the world and this was by far my favorite. We are already planning our return and we got home late yesterday. The owner even called me today as we were unable to say goodbye when we left.

Holiday getaway

We were fortunate to have found Mariposa Del Mar for our Christmas/New Year's vacation; as it was just what we needed - a perfect mix of rustic luxury. Loved being able to kayak and snorkel out to the reef right offshore. there's even a small reef outcrop that's right off the dock. The property staff is very helpful - the day and night team tending to whatever our needs were; Rosa, the property cook, cooked three delicious meals for us. And Derek the boat guide and driver, who showed us around the island. Phillipe, the property manager was easy to get a hold of and helpful with things that would pop up. definitely recommend.

Beautiful Island Paradise

Our family stayed for one week at Mariposa Del Mar. The views and the property are beautiful! We had so much space to enjoy our time on the island. The staff was helpful, very friendly and accommodating. We took advantage of Pizza Night at the Palapa and it tasted so good! The dogs and cats are very friendly on the property. We had AC in all of the bedrooms but not in the main house (that would be nice to have AC in the main house). Otherwise, the place is open , airy and bright. The pool and jacuzzi were perfect places to chill after a long day playing on the island. Thank you to the staff and owners, we loved our trip to Roatan!!!

Peaceful Paradise with 5 Star Service

Our group of 6 live extremely busy, stressful lives in the northeastern US and planned our getaway to relax and restore. Mariposa del Mar more than delivered on their description of the location, amenities and luxury. If you are looking for raucous nightlife this is not the property for you but even so, those type of activities are close enough to enjoy if you so choose. Snorkeling off the dock was some of the best we saw; however, our trips to Pigeon Key and other snorkel locations with Derek also delivered some amazing experiences. Rosa, Bruce, Phillipe, Nicky, et al. were wonderful to work with and get to know. Bruce repeatedly encouraged us to embrace "island time" and we certainly tried our best. The beautiful art work in the shop on the property was amazing and we brought a few pieces home to relive our wonderful time. Other reviews mention that the pictures do not do it justice and we agree. The property and villas are gorgeous and the service impeccable. This is a must visit location!

Like a Private Resort

Where to even begin about this wonderful place?! The home is much more beautiful than the pictures even suggest. The location is ocean front, and has great sunsets. It was private, safe, clean, and endlessly fun. We stayed on property for most of our stay, taking advantage of the resort like amenities and living in our swimsuits between the pool and the reef in front of the house. We had Rosa cook for us every night, which was really wonderful and delicious. Taking the private boat out for the day from the dock was a real treat, and took us to the best spots on the island without worrying about driving or parking or crowds. The house had a hot tub, which was a delightful surprise. Great snorkeling right off the dock, and easy access to the reef via kayaks (but probably for the more adventurous snorkelers who don’t mind solitude). Lots of security and staff, cats, dogs, and birds. Gift shop, spa, and pizza palapa were all adorable and fun and really made the whole property feel like our own fully staffed private island. Thank you Bruce & Nikki for a truly exceptional stay - it could not have been more beautiful, and we can’t wait to come back!

Multi-Family Vacation

What an amazing week spent at Mariposa Del Mar!! The pictures in the VRBO listing do not do this property justice. The views from all common spaces and bedrooms were stunning. We all were able to relax as the house was spacious and had friendly staff and security. We were lucky enough to eat multiple delicious meals prepared by Rosa and Happy, and we were freely able to use the car each day we wanted to go out. We also utilized Derrick and Oscar when we wanted someone to drive us instead. Jessica and the cleaning staff did an excellent job when they came by on Monday and Thursday, and even did our laundry! The kitchen was very well stocked with dishes, cups, pots, pans, etc., we never had any issues cooking any of our meals. There is a cabinet of games, and so many books located throughout the property. The pool was inviting and came with a few floaties as well! We enjoyed an afternoon at the spa, snorkeling around the docks, and kayaking, all of which were provided by the property. There were friendly dogs and cats that came to visit, which our kids loved. This place made it difficult to want to leave and explore other parts of the island, it was just that relaxing!!!

Wonderful and pampered vacation

This is a fabulous and beautiful property! Everything we wanted for a getaway. The airport pickup was a treat and when a couple members of our party arrived on a slightly earlier flight, the driver took them to a near by grocery store to stock up while waiting for our flight. The bedrooms were all beautiful, beds comfortable, the views from the upper and lower deck serene. We snorkeled right off the dock out front everyday of our 2 week stay spying new creatures every day. Rosa cooked for us nearly half of the evening meals which made us feel so cared for. Her food was delicious. The kitchen had everything we needed for any kind of meal prep. All of us used the spa services on site at least once or twice. It was so convenient to have the car available for exploring which we took advantage of and checked out several locations mostly on the east end of the island. Only one day did we go up to West Bay as we were so happy with what we had available. A couple members of our group also took advantage of the golfing and really enjoyed the course. The ocean, the pool, the hot tub, all enjoyed over and over again. If a lot of nightlife in bars is your thing, I would choose another property. If you want to enjoy the people you are with and enjoy your day outings and the comforts around you, this place cannot be beat. It went beyond all of our hopes. What's not to love!

This place was incredible. It is well appointed with all the amenities you could ask for. Views from every room are amazing and there are so many places throughout the property to relax and take it all in. The Kitchen is very well stocked and has professional quality appliances. The staff keeps the entire property immaculate though out your stay. Windows and doors can be left open to enjoy the ocean breeze or closed tight to keep out unwanted bugs. Beds were mainly memory foam and linens are top quality. Drinking water and ice is provided and the entire house is fed by a well so water is safe to brush your teeth with. The snorkeling right in front of the house is one of the best I have ever encountered with a wide variety of fish and plant life to explore (rivaling to St John and Bonair). Or you can take the kayaks out to the reef and explore for hours. There are many pets on this property and they are all super friendly! We had a resident cat that stayed with us most of the time with other cats and dogs popping by randomly to say hello. We are huge animal lovers so it really enhanced our stay. The truck provided was great for exploring the rest of the island but honestly we loved just staying put and relaxing by the pool and swimming in the ocean. If you are looking for total relaxation where you have everything you need in one place this is your spot. We can't wait to return and plan to bring some friends next time.

Amazing villa! Best. Vacation. Ever.

Our group of 13 stayed at Villas Del Mar this past spring. We were able to utilize all 3 of the villas on the property. They were better than we imagined. The homes are absolutely gorgeous and the staff was wonderful. A group of 4 stayed in Brisa and the rest of us (9) spent part of the week in Fuego and part of the week in Mariposa. We enjoyed different things about each property but had no complaints about any of them. I loved the pool at Fuego and the overall feel of the home. It is so open and spacious. Mariposa has an amazing outdoor space around the pool and has a private feel. The views from every home are outstanding. Rosa cooked dinner for us every night but one...when we ventured to the West End. She and her crew are amazing and the food is to die for. I strongly suggest using Rosa!! We felt very spoiled. The staff on site was so helpful and accommodating. We knew they were there to help as needed but were rarely seen. I can not say enough wonderful things about this property. It is out of the hustle and bustle and was exactly what we were looking for. We were able to kayak and snorkel right off the dock. Some of our crew went out fishing a couple days. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation with a beautiful property and wonderful staff -- you have found it. We will definitely return and would never hesitate to recommend the property to everyone.

Look, I understand how someone could give this a three-star rating if they are expecting to be in walking distance from other stuff, need air conditioning, etc., but that is not what this place is about. Yes, the grocery store is 20 minutes away, but on the bright side, you are 20 minutes away from civilization in your own private paradise. My wife and I went with a couple of friends, none of us had kids, and we initially had certain expectations, like restaurants close by, internet/phone service, air conditioning, etc., but all of that goes away after your first couple of hours there. The internet didn't work, and I'm glad it didn't, it was an escape from everything. We actually forgot one of our suitcases, turns out we didn't even need it, just need bathing suit and a pair of shorts for an entire week. As for air conditioning, there was a constant cool ocean breeze all day and night, didn't need it. The staff was great, didn't get in our way at all, but were seconds away if we ever needed anything. We literally had our own private reefs right in front of us. You could take the boat out to the deeper reefs, kayak and drop anchor at some other reefs, or just jump off the boat dock and float through some of the most beautiful reefs until you reached the other dock, and then repeat all day every day. We never saw or heard any other boats or people, except for the occasional local fisherman who shouts up to you to see if you would like any live crab or lobster. Who needs civilization when you have this at your fingertips? There was a sound system so we could play our ipod outside, tv with dvd and satellite tv, so you could still stay connected to the world. If you are the type of person that needs to go shopping, go to restaurants for all of your meals, and needs to be entertained, then maybe this isn't the place for you. If you are looking for a great escape from the world, THIS is the place for you.

We just returned from a week in Mariposa and 2 days in Brisa! What a great experience...exactly what we were looking for...clean, very quiet, great views, sunsets, snorkeling right in front of the house. Bruce, Nicky & Phil thought of everything from a cell phone to use with important local contacts, Toyota van to use, a great spa! The house was fully equipped with a great kitchen, living, dining, pool/deck areas. Rosa & Theresa were the best offering fresh seafood dinners. Our only regret is we did not have Rosa cook for us more often. The Black pearl golf course was a great deal, only about $120 for greens fees, cart, club rental & a caddie! Next year we want to plan 2 weeks so we can golf more...snorkel more...scuba dive more...and relax more!!

Wonderful Week at Mariposa Del Mar

We recently stayed at Mariposa Del Mar and could have not chosen a better villa for our vacation. It was everything we anticipated plus more. The villa is absolutely beautiful and very comfortable. We were picked up at the airport by Phil, son of owners Bruce and Nicky, who are such a delight. During the 45 minute drive to the house, Phil filled us in on island life, specifics at the house, etc. Yes, the nearest grocery store is 20 minutes away but Phil stopped for us to stock up on drinks and snacks for the week. This property is an escape from the busy, touristy part of Roatan. Just what we anticipated and wanted! Each morning began with coffee and ended by relaxing with a glass of wine on the deck overlooking the beautiful water. The sunsets seemed to get more beautiful each night. Rosa purchased the food and along with her daughter, Pearl, cooked a delicious breakfast and dinner every day. Rosa's homemade tortillas are delicious and ribs were to die for. (We are all now on a diet!) Tuesday night was pizza night, and we enjoyed meeting the guests in Fuego del Mar along with Bruce and Nicky. The meal and food cost is a bargain compared to what it would be for us to eat at a restaurant for 14 meals at home. Fausto, the caretaker, was just a cell phone call away when we needed kayaks, ice for the cooler, or anything else. The housekeepers even did our laundry! Each evening at dusk, our outdoor lights were turned on and candle were lit (thanks, Lester!). When we drove up to the gate, someone was always there to open it. EVERYTHING you could possibly need was provided. We had an amazing time at Mariposa del Mar, even with a few ants, bees, geckos, frogs, and lizards. That's just part of the experience! I fell in love with K-2, the house cat who paid a daily visit. Having the use of a car and cell phone was also very helpful. We had no problems with daytime driving but did not attempt at night. We hope to return to Mariposa del Mar one day! THANK YOU for an awesome week!

Mariposa Del Mar - Beautiful Location Needs Improvements - stay with family of 5

It's a beautiful location with the center house including a large kitchen, dining room and family area and a wrap around deck. The two upstairs bedrooms are reached through a breeze way and for the downstairs bedroom is outside and down the steps. The pool is lovely as is the deck surrounding the pool with a view of the ocean and reef. The staff that picked us up at the airport and provided security and assistance with the kayaks, snorkeling gear were very nice. We took a boat trip to Jade Island in the resorts boat and it was a fun, beautiful and isolated location. Now the negatives...The Villa is very isolated. It's a 25 min drive to the grocery store. If you stay there it makes sense to make as few trips as possible and take advantage of the cooking service for $30 for up to six people. We did three meals through this service. We requested the grocery shopping be done by the cook since no ingredient lists were provided. The garlic shrimp was good but the ingredient price must of been drastically inflated. Other than shrimp the only ingredients were rice, vegetables for salad and bread? We did pizza and requested a cake for a birthday celebration. I was charged $25 for a small cake that I think came from a box mix. The pizza was OK, but we were told we were eating at 6:30 and it was after 8PM. We had the fish of the day prepared and it was terrible and again over priced compared to what food costs out in Roatan. The cleaning service is virtually nonexistent. Yes they straighten the bed, wash towels and broom sweet the floor, but everything is sticky and dusty. The main part of the house is open without screens other than the sliding door. You have to open the windows because there is no air conditioning in that part of the home. Ants and small spiders are everywhere. The rugs and filthy, the upholstery is moldy and the kitchen is sticky. Part is island living but the dust on every lamp and mold can be managed with some actual cleaning.

Roatan is convenient to the US with direct flights from Atlanta, Huston, Newark, Miami and several other cities in the States. It is so convenient for friends and family to get together here and enjoy the sun, sea, boat, spa and golf. The wonderful attention that the staff provide have have made this villa a unique and wonderful experience over the years

Why they chose this property

Politilly is in the quiet east end of the island far from all the cruise ships, tourist hub bub and traffic. Small restaurants, scenic vistas, secluded beaches, traditional villages are all close by.
