About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Bath, (Sleeps 6)

Welcome to Shorty's beach front home. Just steps to miles of pristine sandy beach. This vintage 1950's beach house has been in the same family for all these years. They have upgraded it constantly, but still have the knotty pine panels and wood fireplace. You can also walk and launch your kayack in the Nestucca River, or walk down the street to the stables and go horseback riding on the beach.

Restaurants and shopping are less than a mile away, and so is the Oregon Coast bike path. Haystack Rock and the sand dunes of Cape Kiwanda are in walking distance along the beach. You can watch the dory boats launch from the beach as well as numerous surfers riding the waves as well as the whale migration.

There are lots of nice homes in Pacific City, but not many right on the beach. Sit on the dune behind the house and watch your kids and dog play on the beach, while the sun goes down for that spectacular sunset.

We hope you will give us a try, and if you do, you will come back as many already have........Shorty

Excellent view, very clean, good beach access ! Feels very homey. Kitchen well equipped. Nice to have large garage!Only drawback is no wifi and need to buy firewood. In a perfect world would have Oceanside patio as nice as the front

Loved it!

Great location but with a few flaws

  • 2 of 5

The location of the house can't be beat - beautiful views and literally on the sand. The manager was very accommodating as we arrived an hour early and were welcomed in. My only complaints would be the cleanliness of the house and the fact that there is no bathtub. We came with small children - one still crawling and the tops of his feet were black within 10 minutes of arriving and there were cobwebs framing the living room windows. Also with little ones a tub is needed for bathing and washing sand off but both bathrooms just have shower stalls. I would stay there again simply for its location but without the kids.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

We arrived to a very clean, retro style cozy cabin. Two bathrooms with showers and 2 bedrooms. Everything was perfect. Service check on arrival by property management to ask if everything was fine. We will be dreaming of returning. We had three very tired teenage boys and 2 happy dogs.

Thanks!

cozy, charming house

  • 5 of 5

My folks have been coming here for at least a couple of years, always bringing their two collies for fun in the surf. This time I went along for the weekend. What a charming house; as another reviewer mentioned, the pictures don't do it justice. The views from the living/dining room and master bedroom are superb. Everything is extremely comfortable (new bath towels are plush!) and simple at the same time, the way a beach house should be. The place is immaculately clean, and that is really saying something when a house fronts a sandy beach. Great walking beach for pups and people, and I enjoyed hiking around the Cape Lookout area - also, don't overlook Whalen Island for walking. That's quite an interesting estuarine area, and an easy trail that all ages should be able to handle.

Because of an earlier review, I wanted to throw in my two cents about home fragrancing. I have some bad chemical sensitivities, and mold/pollen allergies, and I noticed nothing whatever in this house to cause me any problems. There's air freshener provided, as you would expect in a rental that is pet-friendly. If you can't handle any fragrance in your laundry detergent, just bring your own, as I always do. Definitely no mold to be seen or smelled. Very very clean.

I look forward to coming back!

We Loved This Place!

  • 5 of 5

The pictures don't do it justice... this place is fabulous. The home is immaculate and had lots of space for our family of Grandparents, parents and two small children. The kitchen was very well equipped.. ok, no dishwasher, but we didn't care. The location is unbeatable. We had almost an entire beach all to ourselves. We flew kites, played bocci ball, built a campfire, sandcastles, you name it. Only a mile or so from Cape Kiwanda, and driveable to so many coastal attractions. We saw a whale, seals and so much more. Also, check out Munson Creek Falls, beautiful!

Wonderfully cute place to stay that exceeded our expectations!

  • 5 of 5

After reading the previous review a week before our trip I got a little nervous from the post, but arriving at the house my husband and I quickly realized that person was WAY off base in their review and obviously crazy. My husband is a Neurologist and agrees that her medical talk in her review was completely invalid. The place was absolutely charming and a perfect beach getaway house. I have an extremely sensitive nose and did NOT smell ANYTHING like mold, mustiness, or other annoyances such as overly smelly plug ins. The place was extremely clean and well kept. It's an older house with charm that fits perfectly right on the beach. The master bathroom was absolutely beautiful and very new and up to date, as well as both bedrooms and the second bathroom. It was wonderfully stocked and even had board games to play. The windows functioned perfectly and let a lovely beach breeze in throughout the entire house and allowed us to hear the ocean waves which was heavenly. There was no construction going on at all or vehicles driving on the beach (and we were there during the week and weekend). The beach access was amazing and felt like it was our own private beach. The view of Haystack Rock was amazing and being able to watch the waves from inside the house was stunning. We spent about equal time inside and outside and enjoyed every second of our stay here. We walked each day to the town for lunch and dinner (sometimes on the beach and other times on the road) where we enjoyed Pelican Brewery and Ben & Jeff's which were about a mile away (There were also a few other places there too that we didn't make it to). We also enjoyed Twist - a cute little wine tasting shop (which also had beer on tap & shopping) and Los Caporales - an amazing Mexican restaurant, both of which were only a few blocks away from the house and took us about 5 minutes to walk to. It was awesome that we never had to drive at all and could walk everywhere we went (although you could easily drive as parking was plentiful). This house honestly was amazing and we will definitely be coming back. We were celebrating our 12 year wedding anniversary and it was perfect. Even our dog came with us and loved it too. Ellen, the manager, was also wonderful in all her communications with me and answered any questions I had very quickly. She was extremely accommodating and I am so grateful to have found this gem of a place to stay. I highly recommend it & will definitely be back!!
