I am born and raised in Montreal , Canada. I fell in love with Mexico on my first trip there and a after a few years of travelling there I purchased this condo and then I fell in love with a beautiful Mexican women and we are now happily married with 3 amazing boys.
We hope you enjoy our little piece of paradis as much as we do.
Mario Nini purchased this condo in 2005
I bought this property for many reasons , I love everything about Puerto Morelos, being situated just between Cancun and Playa delcarmen and just 20 away from the airport is really awesome . I feel im in the middle of all the action but yet when i come home it is so peaceful since this the Caribbean Reef is like an oasis of tranquility , but one of the main reason for choosing this place on the Riviera Maya was the breathtaking view. I have travelled around the world and have always rented on the ocean and i must say when i saw the view of this Penthouse I knew i had found "Paradise on Earth".
I am positive you will agree.
I am Austrian and I was there for 11 days and it was my first time for a longer stay in Mexico. I really like this spot because specially at new year holidays all other places were very crowdy and full of people. The property is very clean, the appartments are really nice, specially the penthouse :) The pool is in very nice conditions, clean, excellent water etc. Sometimes the sea is not that nice as expected in the gulf of mexico because depending on the current from time to time a lot of see-weed and plastic is coming to the beach but the staff is fast in removing this.
The staff is very friendly and helpful and the place is very safe. All point of interests are close, Maya-Temples, cinotes, etc.
We really love the small town of Puerto Morelos. Nice little restaurants, local excellent food, nice snorkeling spots and you feel like home.
I can really recommend this spot specially when you compare it to the high-volume-resorts nearby!
A rental car is a good idea for traveling around!
My husband and I recently returned from 10 days at Caribbean Reef Villas in a one bedroom penthouse. The moment we opened the door, we realized we were in a private paradise. Unobstructed views of the Caribbean from the expansive balcony were breathtaking. Even though it was quite hot out, because of the breeze, we never had to turn on the air conditioner. The condo was fully equipped with just about everything you would need. There was a large flat screened TV with plenty of movies to watch (we didn't). However, we couldn't watch regular TV. Maybe we were doing something wrong. I also wanted to try and find a music station on the TV, but was unable to do so. It was about a 15 minute walk to town, either by beach (a little tricky) or walking on the road (narrow with a lot of traffic). A taxi was only 50 pesos, which was what we did coming back later in the evening. You could also rent bikes in town. There was a mix up with housekeeping, but once the owner was notified, it was quickly rectified. My only complaint was that we were there for 10 days and the sheets were never changed. Some guests might want to know in advance that this condo is on the third floor, with access being a winding staircase with 46 steps. A good workout! All in all, we loved this condo and hope to return next year.
We stayed a week at the Caribbean Reef #200 penthouse condo; Mario made it an easy process. The condo comes with everything you need from towels, dishes, full size fridge, comfortable bed and linens, even books and DVD’s as well as a safe to lock up your valuables. It is a short cab $3.00 ride to the center of town (we walked once but it is quite a hike- but can be done). The pool and beach are right there and there were only a few others around at all times. One of the most peaceful get-a-ways we have ever had. The ocean breeze is amazing; we had the windows/doors open most of the time (they have screens on them). The town has some awesome food; we did not have a bad meal while we were there! It was perfect! Thanks again Mario; we will back!
We are from CA and booked a last minute getaway and chose the Qunitana Roo area because Hawaii had hurricanes at the time. Neither of us had been to that part of Mexico. We found this condo and it had great reviews. All the reviews are true, it's an exceptional condo and property.
We went during off season and we were the only ones at the Villas so once we got past wondering what the catch was we settled in for a week of relaxation. The view is amazing, the grounds are well maintained, aside from some pool tile that needs some repairs. The people were very nice and balanced well between leaving us alone and making sure our needs were met. The local people in Puerto Morelos are very nice and we were there for the Mexican Independence Day celebration and chose to get a local experience over flocking to tourist spots. It was really fantastic. We are vegan so there were good restaurant choices in town and a grocery nearby.
I only have two small nits. One was that the fridge was out of commission in the condo which we were bummed about because we expected to cook more meals for ourselves. However, they had a small fridge bright in, counter sized and we were given access to use one in one of the other rooms to store our stuff. Not a deal breaker for us alone but could have been if we had brought kids.
The second problem was the seaweed. Read up on it before you go. The Villas staff cleaned it one day but honestly it's a full time job for about 10 people. We walked on beaches at a resort, in Playa and Paradise Beach in Tulum and this is a major problem for the entire area. That Caribbean blue in pictures is now brownish yellow and the beaches are piled high with the stuff. Workers are using heavy equipment and nets to try to control it but it's not possible. We opted to settle back at the villa with the infinity pool to ourselves and one patch of beach that was relatively under control. It's really sad to see and doesn't smell great either.
Again, the condo was amazing. If I were in the market to buy one, it would be this one! Don't miss Chitza Itza, we rented a car and drove ourselves it was super easy. There are tolls so bring pesos.
My wife and I where at the condo for a week which was our first trip to Mexico, the experience we had at the condo was awesome. The condo is perfect and the property is pristine, this was our first trip to Mexico and staying at Caribbean Reef Villas was the perfect spot. The staff was very friendly and helpful upon our arrival and stay at the property and the town of Puerto Morelas is wonderful. We would recommend d this condo.
We stayed at this penthouse apartment for 2 weeks & were so delighted with it. I don't think the photographs do it justice. The views from the beautiful balcony were absolutely stunning & we spent many a night dining on the balcony just listening to the sound of the waves or Mario's ipod which had an amazing selection of music to suit all types ......just a little extra touch that was very much appreciated. The apartment is extremely well decorated & didn't lack anything the whole complex is kept in pristine condition & Leo & Arlen are always on hand to answer any questions. Mario was also extremely helpful when we had a problem & dealt with it immediately. We would recommend this place to anyone & hopefully will return one day. Puerto Morelos is a lovely little town peaceful & quiet with lots of lovely restaurants & beach bars. You are able to walk into town but it takes about 20 mins & you can get quite hot, so we hired bikes from the town which was great. This place proved to be exactly what we wanted a place to chill & relax & we certainly did that.
Snorkelling and diving along the second longest reef in the world (Mesoamerican Barrier Reef) 500 meters offshore right in front of our penthouse. Kite surfing also available and nearby are Eco Parks (Xcaret, etc. with native flora, fauna, surface and underground rivers and natural pools), pre-Columbian Mayan ruins (e.g., Tulum, Chichen Itza), a reptile/crocodile zoo. Also found throughout the area are the cenotes, fresh water swimming holes formed by collision of an ancient meteor, and the foundation of the Mayan civilization.
