Thank you for your stay. It sounds like you had a great time at Caribbean Reef Villas & Puerto Morelos. CRV is NOT a resort. It is a small condominium complex that is made up of 21 units that are individually owned. CRV was originally built in the mid '80's. It was run as a small boutique hotel until the 2000's. At this time the owner sold off the villa units to individual owners and these owners formed a Home Owners Association (HOA) like they do in the states. These individual owners have remodeled their units to meet their likes. The furnishings are Tommy Bahama brand which we liked. The rock jeddy's you mention where actually built to hold in the sand for the beach. These rocks also create habitat for marine life which is great to see if you snorkel around these rocks. You will see sting rays, lobsters, and many colorful fish. I have caught a couple of lobster in season there and grilled them up for dinner. Beaches are a very dynamic system. The storms are always changing them. Today you may have sand, tomorrow the sand moved down the beach. Yes you are correct that the beach area north of the pier in town has a lot of sand right now. But you cannot see bright marine life unless you take a trip out onto the barrier reef. I sorry for the hot water issue and the A/C blower issue. We just had renters three days earlier and there were no issues reported to myself or our rental manager. I sent you all the rental management information prior to your departure. Hopefully you brought this information with you on your trip. It was reported back to me that the hot water heater fuse and wiring had blown. I have not heard back on the A/C issue but should be fixed soon. The salt air is a problem with metal parts and that's just a part of ocean front living. Our rental management company has always been responsive to our renters needs as long as they were contacted. Living on the ocean surrounded by mangroves, storm water runoff is always an issue. There is nowhere for the water to run in spots. Sometimes during these events you are able to see a little wildlife like a crocodile or two. We love Mexico for the adventure and have experienced this since going to Cancun and the Riviera Mayan coast since the early 1980's. We laugh it off, drink a little tequila and book our next adventure. The road is dark at night. There is the security guard shack along the route. The best way to travel between the town square and CRV at night is to catch a taxi from the cab shack on the town square. Especially after a few margaritas at Cantina Habaneros.
