Space 1,200 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 1 - 5 nights

About the property

Beautiful private setting, Views, Hot Tub, Cabin, 3 Bedrooms 2 Baths, Sleeps 2-6

If privacy and setting are the qualities you are searching for in your next getaway, then look no further. From the moment you step through the front door, you will feel that you have arrived to your mountain home away from home. Muskwaki Pines is located in one of South Shore Lake Tahoe’s best kept secret neighborhoods. This home makes an ideal ski lease. If interested in a ski lease, make an inquiry to get a quote from the owner.

Conveniently tucked off of Pioneer Trail, this quiet area fronts the Upper Truckee River and meadow, which is a ten minute walk from the house. The home’s peaceful setting has meadow, forest and mountain views. There is open space surrounding the property with both forest and meadow. Even though it is just fifteen minutes in any direction to Lake Tahoe’s attractions, you may not want to leave. Do not be surprised to see bears, coyotes, and even an occasional raccoon cruising the area.

Because this home has been the owners' primary residence for over twenty years, it is very well stocked with everything you will need to make this your home away from home. The interior is furnished with unique antiques, comfy lodge furniture and Tahoe themed artworks. The kitchen is well stocked with appliances and cooking essentials. All the basic food stuffs and dry goods will be conveniently available so that you can spend more of your vacation time on vacation. The BBQ on the deck is always ready as it is hard-wired natural gas. No propane tanks to fill.

The home has 3 bedrooms with King pillow-top beds in two of the bedrooms and two twin beds in the third bedroom, and two bathrooms. No one will be left without hot water due to the tankless hot water heater. Conveniently, a fully stocked laundry room is off the kitchen. For those who must take their work with them, there is high speed wifi internet, some office supplies, and an all-in-one printer/FAX/scanner/copier.

Lots of windows invite the outdoors in. Enjoy your privacy on the deck. Take in the fabulous sunsets while soaking in the four-person hot tub. Or just curl up in front of the fire and watch a good movie on the big screen Smart TV.

Our furry guests can romp in the fenced yard area with access from the deck. But that still leaves plenty of open grassy area to set up a game of croquet or bocce ball, or build snowmen in the wintertime. Or even set up a tent for the kids that want to go 'camping'.

About Sue and Neal

Lake Tahoe is a special place. We have lived in Tahoe for over 30 years. Once you plant you feet you never want to leave. Max and Riley, our dogs, love to go to the Upper Truckee River and splash in the water. As scuba divers, we have explored all around the shores of the lake. As boaters, we enjoy our outings in the summer and fall on the big blue.

Sue and Neal purchased this house in 1984

Why Sue and Neal chose Pioneer Trail

This area is one of South Lake Tahoe's best kept secrets. It is off the beaten path with open space and fewer homes than most areas. The property is bordered by meadow and forest on 3 sides. The Upper Truckee River meadowland is a 10-minute walk out the front door. You can hop on your bike and hit world-class mountain bike trails in minutes.

What makes this house unique

Private setting, Fresh Mountain Air, tall pines and a beautiful lake. The river and flower studded meadow is a short walk from the front door. Wildlife cruises right through the property.

Perfect Relaxing Cozy Weekend!!

  • 5 of 5

We just got back from a perfect weekend in this cozy cabin!! We were looking for a relaxing weekend, with our dog and a hot tub was a must have. This cabin exceeded our expectations and provided a perfect weekend exactly how we imagined. This house was so easy to enjoy, the big wood stove, private hot tub and comfortable beds!! The cabin was clean stocked with everything needed! The snow was so beautiful and everywhere you looked all you saw was snow covered trees and icicles hanging from the windows but I can see this place being great during the summer months as well. We hardly left all weekend!! Can’t wait to come back!!

Owner's Response: The cabin and setting are a wonderful place to spend time any time of year. Summers are awesome as the meadow is emerald green and full of wildflowers, the nearby river is running. Tahoe is just the best place to spend a summer vacation. Our personal favorite season is the fall. Mountain biking and hiking are at their best in the dryer months of the fall. The nights are cooler and the fall colors are so rich and crisp.

Perfect cabin convenient to ski and have your own space

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with our toddler and his grandparents. We hit the snow of the century and it was so deep we could barely move through it, but the cabin was great and kept us all warm and snug with beautiful views, a great kitchen and plenty of water pressure. There’s a great dog friendly yard and the covered walkway is a must-have for the snow. It was shoveled promptly and the owners were very helpful and nice to us.

Comfortable and private place

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! The common spaces were very comfortable and allowed for four adults, two dogs and a toddler to all have enough room. The hot tub and fenced yard were great amenities and it was what drew us to this listing to be begin with. It is also rare to find a home with multiple king sized beds which was another added bonus. The private meadow and forest setting is true - it was so nice to head outside and basically be alone. Of course there are neighbors but since this is a quiet community, we rarely saw others. We would definitely stay here again.

This place was amazing!!!

  • 5 of 5

A buddy of mine and my pup needed to get away for the long weekend, and I found this place. We arrived to a charming and clean home with VERY helpful owners. The house is close to all the needed places (market, coffee shop, Gym, etc.) but far enough that I felt like I was able to escape life. The hot tub on the balcony and wood-burning fireplace were the icing on my cake! I will absolutely be back to this place!!

Lovely getaway from city life

  • 5 of 5

It was a nice vacation for me and my rescued ex-racer greyhound, Shader. Sue was always prompt in responding. The property is exactly as described. Clean and cozy. Because I didn't know how well equipped the kitchen was, I brought along quite a few utensils with me, which turned out to be unnecessary. Living room is spacious, so is the fenced in backyard. The neighborhood is quiet, close to a few nice trails.

It's worth noting that there are coyote sightings during the day (not unexpected as the owner has listed the warning), so you need to be aware of your surroundings, especially when you bring kids and pets along.

I look forward to coming back to Tahoe later this year, and I'll definitely consider staying at this property again!

5 stars from the human, and two paws up from Shader :)
