Overview

About the property

Private 3 Bed/2 Bath Villa With Gorgeous Sea Views And Close To Beach

Casa Rubina is an elegant and charming villa, secluded yet accessible. It is easily reached from Esperanza or the north coast via paved roads. On the very private, gated property, you’re surrounded by nature, and you'll fall asleep to the songs of the tree frogs and wake to the music of the birds.

The interior of the house includes the living room which is open to the eating area and the recently remodeled kitchen. Walls of windows overlook stunning views of hills, forest, Sun Bay and the Caribbean Sea beyond. The windowed hall/gallery leads to two bedrooms with jack-and-jill bath and ends at the large master bedroom with en suite bath. The master bedroom and second bedroom both have direct access to the pool area via doors to the outside. All 3 bedrooms are air conditioned and have ceiling fans.

In addition to the pool, the outdoor living spaces include a wet bar, dining pavilion with seating for 8, and a gas grill cooking area. Steps down from the pool level is a wooden deck which is ideal for meditation or quiet encounters. Farther down the hill, rolling lawns are dotted with ancient trees. There's lots of room for games or an evening stroll and perhaps to pick bananas, mangos, papayas, guavas, limes or other tropical fruits on the two-acre property. Stay up late and be amazed by the stunning star display of the Milky Way and search for the Southern Cross. Dark skies make for phenomenal star gazing!

Now under new ownership and next door to sister property Quinta Jacaranda, see here on HomeAway #394769, the yards of the two properties are connected by a gate and can be rented together for a total of six bedrooms and up to 14 people.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We just returned from a wonderful family vacation in Vieques. The house and grounds made a fantastic background to many family meals and pool side gatherings. (BTW -- The kids thought the showers were out of this world!) We ate many dinners in the gazebo next to the pool, and then headed to the Bio Bay or into town to listen to the salsa bands during the annual Patronales festival. The bedrooms were very spacious, and the A/C was more than adequate to keep everyone cool even in July. We were able to sleep 6 people very comfortably in the house. We also loved the mango tree and had fresh-picked mango every morning for breakfast. There were plenty of beach chairs and towels for our daily excursions to Media Luna, Sun Bay, Playa Caracas, Green Beach, Playa Negra, Playa Grande, Chivas.... (you get the idea!). All-in-all, a vacation none of us will soon forget!

Love it!

What can I say? Casa Rubina is awesome. There is a lot of privacy and being on the top of a hill made me feel like I was in my own castle. It's conveniently located; only a short trip to pretty much anywhere on the island. The louvered windows allow the ocean breezes to cool the house. The view from the master bedroom is spectacular. Who wouldn't want to wake up, roll over and see the ocean? One bathroom has a decadent rainshower.

The property is well maintained and the landscaping is beautiful. The house was very clean. The washer and dryer are nice to have with all the wet towels from beach visits. The coolers, beach chairs, and other amenities make it feel like a home away from home. The rooms are tastefully decorated and the furniture is comfortable. The outdoor patio area is great, with a decent pool, grill and a relaxing waterfall. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to make meals or have a get together. I didn't want to leave. I got to see the sister property next door (Quinta) and it's just as fabulous, probably even better for a larger group/family.

Julie and Renee are both awesome to work with. Both are excellent resources and know exactly which beaches and eating venues to recommend.

Very nice home with everything you need. Loved the location, a bit away from the hubbub.

Wonderful home with view, breezes and privacy. Renee was very pleasant and helpful when arriving. So appreciated having the nice beach towels, chairs, cooler & snorkel gear to use. Could only suggest a few higher beach chairs for older folks and perhaps one smaller cooler to choose from. A/C in bedrooms was nice to have. Really enjoyed the home. It has alot of character, is updated and we loved Vieques.

beautiful property, perfect location

  • 5 of 5

far enough away from everything to feel true peace, but a short car ride to everything. the views of the bay were gorgeous! the house had everything we needed - a fully stocked kitchen (with leftover spices from other guests), beach towels, beach chairs and toys, even sun screen! the rooms were cozy and we quickly made it home. there is a lot of animal noise at night and especially in the early morning hours, but that is expected when you remove yourself from the big city. there are screens on all the windows so you don't get most bugs in the house, but it is so much fun to see hummingbirds, dragonflies, and other little animals everywhere.

the bathrooms were nice, the kitchen was great (we used it for 3 meals a day), and the beds were comfortable. we never watched tv - too many beautiful beaches. renee was great in introducing the island to us, and even helped us find a health foods store.

if we ever come to vieques again (and we want to!), we'd stay here again!

Simply Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this property for a week in early November, a very quiet time for the island, we were often the only ones on the beaches which we LOVED. We flew from Ceiba and it was great.

This house is beautiful and a real treat for all of us. We have 2 4-year olds who swam three times/day. The outdoor furniture was perfect, including an outdoor table for meals.

The master bedroom was huge with amazing views. The other two rooms were also very nice, and all three had their own a/c. We only used it to sleep and turned it off halfway through the night because it worked too good!

Living room area was perfect for us with a smart tv where we could access Netflix for our little ones during transition times. We made 2 meals/day in the kitchen, plenty of cooking and eating dishes to use. We even roasted a whole chicken, thankful for the spices in the cupboard. We'd fill our water bottles with ice each morning before going to the beaches.

There were 4 brand new sets of snorkeling gear, an umbrella, a cooler, and two beach chairs that we took every day to the beaches. That along with great beach towels was a huge benefit. Something I loved was a basked full of sunscreen and bug spray, leftovers from other guests, I'm sure, but it was really nice and we contributed ours! We only used bug spray in the early evenings at the beaches- never needed it at the house.

Renee, our property manager, was fabulous. She happily answered even the smallest questions. We ended up finding a puppy (actually, she found us) and she helped facilitate us bringing her home. Couldn't have done it without her.

We were just a few minutes from Esperanza and about 15 to the wildlife area with the best beaches. We would daily go early to walk on a beach, eat at the bakery in Esperanza (so good!), then pack up for a swimming beach, and come home for lunch and swimming. It was the best. I didn't find a lot written about taking young kids to Vieques but I can say it's the best. The beaches were so perfect for them- they could go out 100 feet and still not be under water. The restaurants were very accommodating. The song of the coqui frogs will forever be a memory for them as they sang them to sleep each night.

We have rented a lot of homes and this was on the top of the list. Our experience was wonderful from start to finish. Our security deposit was returned one week after arriving home. I'd happily work with this team again!! We are already planning a trip next year!

Tranquil and private with beautiful views

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Casa Rubina for eleven days in early October as a party of four. It proved to be a wonderful holiday on a great island and we strongly recommend the house and its location.

The house is in a beautiful location, isolated, private and with sweeping views of the south coast of the island and wonderful views on three sides

The elevation plus the light breezes may have helped, but we had no problems with mosquitoes.

Outside is a dream, with a good pool (again, very private), multiple loungers and chairs, sunshades and a shaded dining area. We quite happily spent many hours there when we had had enough beach and sight-seeing for the day. Great beach chairs and large beach towels, coolers etc. are provided for your use.

Inside is well equipped. We used the kitchen a lot as restaurant choice is more limited at this time of the year. There is everything you need to cook well, abundance of saucepans and baking equipment, even a yoghurt maker! Plenty of plates and glasses for dining. There is a big fridge and freezer and large stove.

Good showers, comfortable beds White fluffy bath and hand towels as well as face cloths in both bathrooms.

A washer and dryer in one of the bathrooms meant we were able to do laundry so as usual we had all over packed for our vacation!

This is one of the few rentals we have had that I would happily return to again. It and the lovely island itself made for a memorable vacation.
