Cheerful Home with Gorgeous Ocean Views and Pool

Whether you're lounging by the private pool with gorgeous views or inside enjoying the breezy open concept living area with vaulted ceilings and abundant natural light, we are sure Casa Sonrisa will be your happy place!

Our family bought this home in April of 2022 and have had incredible vacations here. We're excited for you to enjoy it too!

PLEASE NOTE: PROPERTY LOCATED IN VIEQUES WHICH REQUIRES TRAVEL BY FERRY OR FLIGHT FROM THE MAIN ISLAND OF PUERTO RICO.
The space
This 3 bedroom, 2 bath home has a wonderful front balcony and pool deck from which you can enjoy views to the north of the Caribbean Sea, mainland Puerto Rico and the island of Culebra.

The house has two floors built into a slightly slanted hillside. The second level has the 40x34 foot pool deck, with ocean views, grill and outdoor shower.

The second floor has two bedrooms with ample closet space, one full bathroom, closet, kitchen, open living/dining space and full front balcony with cooling breezes and beautiful ocean views to the north. Tile flooring can be found throughout the second floor, complimented by colorful walls and kitchen counter tiles. The kitchen has built in covered cabinets, with stove, microwave, and dishwasher.

The 3rd bedroom and second full bath are a separated space from the house.

There is a laundry room, internal stairs to the second floor and an additional bedroom with its own shower.

The entrance has an electric gate, and there is are various fruit trees planted including bananas and pomegranate.

Absolutely lovely home, sparkling clean, well-appointed kitchen and very nice amenities! Communication was fantastic as well. The only downside, as others have mentioned, was noise from the rental car company next door. But after awhile we got used to it and didn't notice it so much. Thank you for a lovely stay!

We were greeted by the house manager and she was lovely...showed us around and answered all questions. The property lived up to it's description and was perfect for the 3 couples that were traveling together. We had everything we needed and it was a great location to bunk up in because it was not far from beaches, great restaurants and downtowns....either direction. I was a bit bummed that we couldn't see the actual sunrise but the trees across the way were totally overgrown. We had a great week and this place is perfect for those that want a comfortable sleep, a workable kitchen and a great home base to live out of and enjoy the island. Thank you!

The location, the view, the beach supplies, and a wonderful property host make this a great choice. You can see the islands of Culebra and Maine land PR from the porch and Pool don’t worry about bringing beach supplies, they’ve got you covered. we’ll see you next year!

This property was perfect. Very well appointed with everything, and more, that you need for a great vacation. It was very homey, as well. The hosts were very responsive and accommodating. The pool is a perfect addition, especially for families.

We were so, so happy to have stayed here. Mary the owner and Karen the local manger were amazing and made sure we had everything we needed. The house was perfect as a home base for exploring the island. It was on a great property with beautiful views and so many thoughtful touches.

This place is awesome! Everything was included! Towels, beach towels, detergent, new sponge, coolers, beach chairs and even snorkel equipment. It’s also in the middle of everything. Easy to get to town and all beaches. We had a couple of pool days and it was so relaxing! Definitely recommend renting a jeep! We had the best time and can’t wait to come back! We enjoyed our coffee and tea on the front deck every morning!

Great Pool

Loved the Pool área. It was our hang out place after the Beach. Karen the manager was a Super Host. She was very responsive and attentive. The house has everything you needed and then some.

Very responsive communication from the manager Karen who took the time to do a walkthrough of the house. 3 couples fit comfortably and didnt venture out one rainy day we played board games and used the pool. Rest and Relaxation

Family time with our 3 young adult off spring. Beach and pool. Best of both worlds. Easy access to both towns on the island. Karen was delightful and flexible for check in. She texted a couple of times to make sure things were going well.

Great house in a great spot

We had the most amazing stay in Vieques. The house was beautiful and had everything we needed for our stay. Enjoyed relaxing days by the pool and cocktails on the little porch at night. The location was perfect for us as everything we drove to wasn't more than 7-20 minutes away. I cannot speak highly enough about this house and the caretaker who greeted us warmly when we arrived. We will absolutely be back to Vieques and staying at this wonderful home. Thank you so much!!

All the important things

The owners of this property must have rented in the past, as they had all the important things for a great stay. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen more than well stocked, air conditioners and fans were in good working order, but most important the had good beach chairs, coolers, towels, floaties, and even a sun shade. The only negative I can find is the pool deck is in need of a good power wash as it gets slippery in the dirty areas. The greeters checked in with us often and responded quickly to any questions or concerns. We would definitely stay again. There is a car rental that is next door and they do start work early, but we are early risers so it was not an issue for us.

Our annual trip

First, the pros-- good mid-island location, kitchen is very well-appointed, the house is spacious, great beach gear. The cons-- Maritzas (car rental) is pretty noisy, the neighbor's dogs are up EARLY, the layout of the house is kind of awkward so we really didn't take advantage of having two bathrooms. Now, the really bad-- the bathroom lightswitch and porch railing are truly safety hazards. The lightswitch is taped together with exposed wires and it sometimes works (after several tries). The balcony railing is rotting and unstable, dont lean against it. Finally, the deal breaker for staying there again-- tarantulas. Plural and large. We have veen vacationing in Vieques for 10 yrs and i have never seen one until this trip. Hard pass. There was nothing about the house that ruined our trip by any means, just not a great fit for us

Hi Kelley! I'm happy you still had a great time during your visit. We'd have loved to have heard about some of these issues during your stay so we could have tried to address your concerns. Sounds like there was a lot of rain right before your stay that drove some of the tarantulas down off the mountain. We sent the exterminator out to address it. We also had a contractor and electrician out to double check things and make some repairs.

A dream property!

We just got home and I can't wait to go back. This property felt like home away from home. They really do provide all those little things you need so you can settle in quickly and start enjoying the island. Toilet paper? Check. Coffee filters? Check. Hand soap? Check. Laundry detergent? Check. Beach towels and chairs? Check! And not even worn, faded, threadbare towels like some properties provide, but nice bright, clean, fluffy towels! The property manager, Karen, was readily available to us. Friendly, but not obtrusive. Anything we needed to have done at the house, she was very considerate to arrange around what we had planned. We had an issue with the temperature of the hot water not being high enough and she had the plumber out to fix it before we even returned from the beach. We enjoyed coffee and pastries out on the balcony every morning and savored the island views. The gentle island breezes and roosters crowing off in the distance were such a sweet way to start the day. The air conditioning in each bedroom was primo once we figured out how to use it. The house's temperature overall was very comfortable and we only used the air conditioners at night when we slept.

Great place to stay in Vieques!

I stayed here for two weeks and found that the house had everything that we needed. A fully stocked kitchen, linens, beach chairs, beach towels, washer/dryer, hairdryers, etc. Just pack your clothes and toiletries....nothing else needed. The house is clean and tidy, and it was a pleasure staying there. Just what we needed to unwind while on vacation. The property manager, Jolene, was quick to respond to the few questions. that arose during our stay. (And, she bakes delicious bread that you must try!). The house is in a great location and is 15 minutes or less to either Isabella II or Esperanza. I was a little concerned about the location when I found out that it is on a main road. However, the house is set back from the road and we were not disturbed by any road noises and found it to be surprisingly quiet. A bit of activity at the car rental place in front, but not too noticeable. And, a big plus is that the early morning rooster noises are off in the distance.....and not close enough to wake one up at 3:00 am. When not out and about experiencing all Vieques has to offer, we spent most of our time on the balcony taking in the views and enjoying the breeze. I thought that we would hang out by the pool, but only did so once and otherwise opted for the balcony. FYI---the iguanas do like to visit the pool. I surprised one while he/she was taking a swim, but he/she quickly vacated the pool and scampered off. Very funny to watch! The property is completely fenced in, so the horses do not wander in and present any issues. The electric gate was a wonderful little feature. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and we would definitely stay here again in the future.

We own a few vacation rentals that we visit frequently as a family and love to share with friends. Casa Sonrisa in Vieques, PR is our favorite place to visit as a family. Watching the kids play in the pool. snorkel off the beaches, count horses and roosters, go horse back riding and marvel at the bio bay is pure magic! We hope others can have as awesome a time as we do on our visits!
