About Kathleen Vance and John Bianchi

#6 Fifth Walk was built in 1977. It's a classic modern beach house and we value it for it's quiet and seclusion. It's always been a getaway where our family can enjoy the company of friends and recharge ourselves for the work week.

Kathleen Vance and John Bianchi purchased this house in 1977

Why Kathleen Vance and John Bianchi chose Fire Island

Currently, three generations of our family, from Grandparents to grandchildren, enjoy our house. Davis Park is where our family has spent every summer since the early 1960's; it's a family-oriented beach community, but its also a unique one, with a diverse make up with families, long-time group renters and singles from all across the region.

What makes this house unique

If you love to commune with nature, enjoy a day swimming and sunning at the beach, spent lazy summer evenings on a large breezy deck that overlooks pristine uninhabited Nat'l Park land then you'll also fall in love with this place, as we did.

Notes:
Access to Davis Park, Fire Island is via the Davis Park Ferry Company, in Patchogue. We provide 2 large gardencarts - kept locked up at the Davis Park Ferry Landing - so that you can move your groceries and bags to the house. Many local markets deliver to the ferry, including the big supermarket King Kullen, & seafood markets, and Home Depot. There is a small general/grocery store at the marina with a deli counter. Also a liquor store, and snack bar, a restaurant ("the Casino") and it's popular outdoor bar. The bay is warm, waveless and very shallow, only 1-2 feet deep close to shore, providing a great swimming place for families with small kids. The official FI Nat'l Seashore nude beach is just a few yards away, for those so inclined. Dogs are permitted on the beach at all times but MUST be leashed. Local handymen and contractors are our neighbors, so please let us know immediately about any plumbing/leak/appliance problems - we can have them come over fast.

Map

Beach house is located in Davis Park, which is the easternmost community on Fire Island. There is is a local restaurant/bar 'The Casino', a local general store, liquor store and snack bar, and there is a post office with a book exchange. You can swim, surf, go windsurfing, surf fish in the ocean, go crabbing or clamming in the bay, go birdwatching or beachcombing, hike east to the Watch Hill National Seashore recreation area or just take it easy. Davis Park is quiet, rustic and the perfect getaway. For those unfamiliar with this part of Fire Island - there are no paved roads, no cars, but everything in town is a short walk away.
