The host did a wonderful job checking in with us throughout our stay. They were gracious enough to allow us an early check in as well. They provided QR code instructional videos for how to work the amenities they offered, which I thought was a very nice touch. There were more than an ample of amount of extra towels provided for our large group, and the house and property were all very clean upon arrival. I would recommend this rental to all types of large groups, including groups for family gatherings, friend events, or bridal party weekend festivities.

Overall this place and location (the view) have it all. While there was a slight hiccup during the stay, the property owner was able to rectify and provide an appropriate solution. We would definitely stay here again.

The house was great for a weekend with 12 adult guests. The host was very responsive before, during and after our stay. The free ice cream was an unexpected plus, too. I would recommend this home for large groups who want peace and quiet in the woods, but be close enough to the action in Asheville.

Excellent stay!

Our big group had a wonderful stay at Black Bear Ridge! We loved the outdoor activities, indoor amenities, and close proximity to downtown and hiking trails. Highly recommend!

The house was “as advertised.” The amenities are really what sets this house apart. Even with it raining most of our stay, the kids were able to swim and enjoy the hot tub. We enjoyed several sauna sessions and felt the house was plenty large to accommodate a couple of families. Great house, would rent again.

We enjoyed our stay overall, and the house was a nice place for our family to gather. Chanty replied promptly when we needed help with the sauna and acquiring nightlights, which we appreciated. However, the sauna required considerable troubleshooting and, even after assistance, never seemed to work fully as expected. We also found the electronic game system in the kid nook complicated to use and gave up before ever getting to try it. Given the emphasis on family fun, the selection of board games was surprisingly limited. We also missed having puzzles, a deck of cards, and a little vacation reading available - small touches that would have made the house feel more thoughtfully stocked for a family getaway. We did understand the layout of the house before booking. Families should make sure they understand as well. The lowest level is completely separate, so anyone sleeping downstairs must go outside and up the stairs to the deck to reach the main house. We made sure all kids were in the upper level. There's a line in the listing about the layout, so read carefully or you'll miss it or not quite grasp the implications. Overall, a nice place and a good stay, nicely appointed kitchen and bathroom supplies. Easier-to-use amenities would help it better match the expectations set by the listing. Lovely setting, the kids loved the pool and hot tub, and the good time will be remembered by all.

Overall we had a great stay and enjoyed our time at Black Bear Ridge. Communication prior to our stay was consistent and thorough. The location was great and the property was filled with fun for the family.Our only negative experience revolved around the hot tub. It had a definite smell to it the first time we opened it and an excessive amount of foam and stench when the bubbles were turned on. Given someone had checked out the day we arrived, it must not have been checked. After some communication back and forth spanning over 24 hours, we were given instructions on how to locate the chemicals so that we could address the issue. For the price we paid, I was underwhelmed by the response to a clear issue that should have been resolved prior to our arrival.

We absolutely loved our stay here! We gathered to celebrate my mom’s 60th birthday, and the home was a perfect fit for our group - three couples and their children, my parents, and my two brothers. The layout is incredibly thoughtful: the shared living spaces made it easy to come together for meals, drinks, and great conversation, while the bedrooms were nicely spaced to ensure peace and quiet for anyone turning in early. The upstairs door at the top of the stairs was especially ideal for families with young babies, as it helped keep noise well contained.We were able to enjoy every amenity the home offers - the hot tub, sauna, heated pool, indoor fireplace, and outdoor fire pit. We were even lucky enough to have mild winter weather, which made the experience that much better. The kitchen was well equipped and functional for a large group; we did have to pick up a few small essentials at the nearby Whole Foods - sugar, regular coffee and plastic wrap.One small detail we had overlooked when reviewing the listing is that the second floor is accessed via the deck and outdoor entrances rather than from inside the main living space. This wasn’t an issue for our group, but it’s helpful to be aware of when planning.The location truly can’t be beat. You’re just minutes from downtown for shopping, dining, or strolling, yet once you’re back at the house it feels peaceful, private, and surrounded by stunning views.If you’re considering booking, take this as your sign.
