About Diane M. Daly
I have always had a deep love for nature which my Father had instilled in me since I was a child. I was committed all my life to working hard and making enough money to be able to retire in the Adirondack Mountains that I love so much. I am a graduate of Paul Smiths College, specializing in Culinary arts and Hospitality management. My Father sent me to Paul Smith's to learn about the industry and take over our family business that he had purchased in 1960. I had to work very hard and prove myself to him before he would gift the property to me. I worked in the appraisal field for approximately 30 years and had a very successful Real Estate Appraisal Firm with 2 offices in Delray Beach and Palm Beach Florida , specializing in multimillion dollar properties. I enjoyed my work, met a lot of interesting people, however did not like sitting behind a computer and would always be dreaming of getting out of the city, away from the stress and back to the mountains. In 2012 I finally was able to totally renovate and reopen our property with the new name " Bear Country Lodge." I am living my dream and I love being able to share this beautiful place with my guests. It is my guests who always tell me "It's Magical".
Diane M. Daly purchased this Chalet in 1960
Why Diane M. Daly chose Stony Creek
Are you looking for a 'True Adirondack Experience', but want the luxury of an elegant Bavarian style chalet. My Father traveled around the world as a Chief Engineer with the Merchant Marines. He had been everywhere in the world and when he found our property he fell in love with it's uniqueness. The mountains, the peace and quiet, the magnificent stars at night, the calling of the loons. Nestled amongst 100 FT pines Bear Country Lodge is enchanting, swim in our spring fed mountain magical lake, go fishing, go canoeing, paddle boarding, kayaking, hike the beautiful close by trails, sit by your own PRIVATE CAMPFIRE, ( not one that you have to share with the rest of the resort) The chalets are luxurious and cozy with knotty pine very Adirondack style interior, decorated in the Native American style. Luxurious Denali bedding. My Father originally purchased this property as the Original Stony Creek Dude Ranch back in 1960. I have been coming here for over 50 years now. Please read about our History on owner's website.

My family of five (three teenage boys) had a wonderful time here. The cabin was well-appointed and cozy with everything we needed to cook and relax. Diane is a great host and the property is immaculate.
Thank you so much. I really enjoyed having your family here. I am happy to hear you enjoyed the chalet, we strive to keep them clean and comfortable. I loved watching you playing on my new 9 hole Adirondack mini golf course, shuffleboard, bocce ball, recreation barn with ping pong, air hockey, poker table, and all of our games, Tipi, climbing towers, and all of my boats and rafts at the lake. I hope to see you again soon.
We enjoyed our stay at Bear Country Lodge. It is a secluded property on a peaceful beautiful small lake. The lodge was very clean and met the needs for our family of six. Because we left the property often to explore the Adirondack Mountains we did find ourself driving a lot longer than expected. Not realizing how far everything is from the lodge when originally booked. If your family plans to stay at the lodge for your duration you will enjoy the peace and serenity. Thank you Diane for your attentiveness to all our needs and your love for your property shines through!
Thank you so much for choosing BEAR COUNTRY LODGE for your vacation. I really enjoyed having you as my guests. Bear Country Lodge is located within the Adirondack Park which is 6.1 million acres. So, yes, it is a bit of a drive from where ever you stay if you really want to see all the attractions within the park, such as The Adirondack Experience museum, or Lake Placid, which is just as far from Lake George. I am happy your were able to enjoy the peace, serenity, and nature here at Bear Country Lodge for a TRUE Adirondack experience. It is also wonderful to be able to see the amazing stars so brilliant at night without the distraction of ambient light. It is difficult to explore the entire 6.1 million acre park in one week, I know you were on the go and you tried to fit a lot in. I am glad you were able to enjoy all the amenities ON SITE, our beautiful lake, all of our boats, playing on our 9 hole miniature golf course, our 3 play swing sets, Tipi, tether ball, climbing dome, Bocce ball, shuffleboard, etc. Thank you again, I do love my property and want my guests to love it also.
Beautiful lake, lovely cabin
Diane was a wonderful host! Well equipped cabins and use of kayaks, tubes etc. Nice little private beach. Thought the cabin would have lake views but it was a short walk down a somewhat steep incline; fine for us , but wouldn’t be for someone with mobility issues. Pretty isolated area about 45 minutes to a grocery store so be prepared for that. Enjoyed shuffleboard and games etc. Felt like you had the lake to yourself! Nice clean water.Very relaxing.
Recreation, rest and relaxation - what you go on vacation for!
What a great place! I have not stopped talking about our experience since I returned home.
Diane is a wonderful host, so very attentive and she really has thought of everything to make your vacation enjoyable.
The focus is on family for sure. She has provided every kind of outdoor activity imaginable for the entire family including an awesome miniature golf course that you can play as often as you like! There is literally something for everyone. My 3 year old grandson enjoyed playing for hours on the playground equipment. The accommodations are exceptionally clean and comfortable and very tastefully decorated. Everything you need is provided. Just bring plenty of groceries because after a day of fun in the sun and in the pristine mountain lake paddleboarding, swimming, canoeing you name it you will be very hungry! At the end of the day we enjoyed making smores around the firepit and just relaxing. If you choose to leave the site then Lake George is within 30 minutes for dinner and extended activity, but honestly I can't imagine why you would want to. This was a true Adirondack experience.
We look forward to returning often as I think this is the perfect place to make very special family memories!
Thank you Diane, Ron, Claire & Alana for a wonderful time! It was so very nice to meet you all!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU,
It was a pleasure to have you as my guests. Thankful, appreciative and respectful. I strive to provide the very best vacation for my guests and it is so nice when they recognize that. You were 5 STAR guests and thank you for leaving my chalet so nice and clean, I hardly knew anyone even stayed there. Its called PRIDE and your family certainly has that. I hope to see you again real soon. The fall is also lovely here.
Fantastic family lodge
We had an amazing family vacation at Bear Country Lodge! Our chalet was the perfect accommodation, and we loved the creative Adirondack decor in our chalet and throughout the grounds. The owner, Diane, greeted us at our arrival with a warm and welcoming tour. Our kids had so much fun playing rounds of mini-golf, ping-pong, and shuffleboard, and lots of swimming. The views are spectacular, and invite you to just be out in nature. It's definitely worth the drive! Once you arrive, you won't want to leave!
I am so happy to hear that you had an amazing family vacation. It really made me smile when your son Luke ran downstairs as I was checking you in to the chalet and said , "Mom, IT'S GORGEOUS !!! ". Loved watching the kids play mini golf, shuffleboard, play in my recreation room, golf cart rides, sit by the campfire, swim in the lake, paddle board, and fish. I would love to have you visit again. The fall is lovely here with the beautiful fall foliage. I know its a long way from Chicago but I really hope to see you again. And...Thank you so much for your lovely letter that you left saying that I have created a unique sanctuary and that you feel blessed to have experienced it. I try very hard to please my customers. Your kind words mean a lot to me.
My sincerest regards,
Could not have dreamed for a better place!
Bear country lodge is the perfect place for a nice, relaxing weekend with family and/or friends! 4 really cute cabins in front of a lawn with mini golf, ping pong, and many other games... a pristine lake to swim, paddle and kayak... a fire pit for the S’mores ! Diane is an amazing host and makes sure you have everything you need to enjoy your stay 100%! Cannot recommend it more :) Will definitely come back with a few friends in the other cabins.
Thank you so much for visiting Bear Country Lodge and all your accolades. It is easy to be a great host when you have amazing guests. I enjoyed watching the children playing mini golf, walk to the lake each morning to swim, boat, etc.
Really happy you enjoyed your vacation and the accommodations in my chalet, the worldly travelers that you you are coming from Paris and Manhattan.
