Overview

About the property

4 bedroom 3 bath view home with hot tub, great back yard, fireplace & pool table

Unwind, reboot and recharge here where the spectacular view will take your breath away. Whether enjoying the stunning panoramic Columbia River view from almost every room and the expansive front deck and hot tub, challenging your family and friends to a rousting game of pool or darts, or cooking a delicious meal together in the large open living/dining/kitchen, this is the perfect vacation get-away. A/C, WiFi, music speakers inside and out, grassy backyard with hammock and firepit for roasting s'mores and great conversation. Our home is about 7 minutes to downtown Hood River and 45 minutes to Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Area. Return home to a soak in the hot tub after biking, windsurfing, kiting, hiking or rafting or enjoy the cozy fireplace for your your apres-ski pleasure. Enjoy a glass of wine from the deck and watch the sun set over the Columbia. Direct view of the windsurfing/kiting launch-- know what sail/kite you will rig before you even leave the house! The access to the water is quick and easy.

This is a perfect launching pad for wine tasting in the Hood River or in Washington from Bingen to Maryhill.

It's a quick and easy drive to downtown Hood River for shopping and restaurants, while still feeling away from it all. Walk or bike to downtown Mosier restaurants, ice cream, playground and more. Easy access to Mosier Tunnel Trail and Route 30 for biking, and you can hike to a beautiful waterfall and a newly expanded wildflower hike right out the door.

This house is very kid and family friendly, and perfect for a large group.

Four bedrooms. Upstairs has master with queen bed and en-suite bath. Second bedroom upstairs has a full bed and twin bunk beds. There is a second full bath upstairs. Large sectional couch in the living room. Downstairs has a full bath with shower and a bedroom with queen bunks and another bedroom with a queen bed. There is a double futon downstairs as well as the pool table and dart board.

We encourage fun but being respectful to our neighbors is top priority. No loud parties allowed.

Parking is limited to 4 vehicles. Our home sits on a steep hill which makes for great views but the driveway is very steep. If it's at all icy we advice that you park on the street and walk up. This can be challenging for those without sure footing.

We are nearing completion of a guest house on our property in front of our home. It does not obscure the views from the main house and you have full access to the driveway. Photos coming once it's complete. It will be available to rent either in conjunction with the main house or separately (it sleeps up to 6 and is super cozy and nice! Same spectacular views) sometime in 2017.

Cancellations: Bookings canceled at least 60 days before the start of the stay will receive a 100% refund. No refund if canceled within 60 days. (Security Deposit will be refunded).

You must be a minimum of 30 years of age to rent our home.

About Jill Hawkins

We fell in love with the Gorge in the 1990's. Windsurfing was the initial draw but the astounding beauty and access to world class recreation-mt and road biking, rafting, hiking, fishing, golfing, and more kept us coming back. The restaurants and shops are top notch and the wine tasting and access to local produce are stellar! We chose to build our home in Mosier because of it's unique Columbia River views and it's small town charm. It's so close to all that Hood River offers but you feel greater calm and serenity here. We built our home ourselves in 1999 and are happy you are considering it for your next vacation.

Why Jill Hawkins chose Mt. Hood, The Gorge

Our home is well suited for families, couples, or groups of friends looking for a relaxing and fun get-away. The view is spectacular, looking straight down the stunning Columbia River Gorge. The home is perfect for entertaining with it's open concept on the main floor yet each bedroom is cozy and private.

What makes this house unique

You can bike from home to the Mosier Twin Tunnel Trail and other amazing road bike options. The strong consistent winds coupled with smaller crowds at the local windsurf/kite beach (Rock Creek), which you can see from the house, make this a perfect launch pad for the windsurfer/kiter.

Amazing House - Amazing Views - Amazing Value

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed here to celebrate my brother in law's and my, birthday. The house is amazing with plenty of room for entertaining as well as sleeping. The view is absolutely breathtaking and I did not get tired of using the provided binoculars to glass the river and the hills. The kitchen is well stocked and their were spices and condiments in the fridge. We had to reach out to the owner to ask a question about the hot tub and she was super responsive and friendly. Additionally this house is very kid friendly! There is a changing table and high chair, as well as bunks and TONS of toys and games (for all ages).

This house is going to the top of our favorites for the gorge. I look forward to the next trip we take here!

5/5 Perfect Spacious Cabin with an Amazing View

  • 5 of 5

I had a mini Marine Corps reunion with a few of the guys that I served with. They flew from all over the country and I wanted to show off the Columbia River Gorge. This cabin was the perfect place to do that. We went rafting, hiking, biking and wind surfing all within 20 miles of this cabin. I would absolutely recommend this cabin and I will be back the next time I host our annual reunion.

A great place for large family gathering!

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I came with our two sons and their families (6 adults, 7 grandchildren) as part of our 50th wedding anniversary. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the sunsets over the Columbia River George from the deck. The older grandchildren loved the pool table and the hot tub was a great place to relax any time of day. The home has a well-stocked kitchen with plenty of pots, pans and utensils. The owners were excellent to work with and were very accessible whenever we had any questions. There is a small beach (part sand, part rocks) right in Mosier that our younger grandchildren thought was fun.

In summary, this is a beautiful part of the USA. Whitewater rafting, windsurfing, kitesurfing, wineries and multiple microbreweries are all within 10-45 minutes of the house. This home makes an excellent home base for exploring the Columbia River Gorge and all it has to offer.

Fresh air, Gorgeous view and lovely home

  • 5 of 5

We awoke every morning to gorgeous views of the Columbia River as two of the bedrooms have river views. And just a few steps to the main living area and the view is even more expansive. Step outside to the deck and whether you are just sitting or enjoying the hot tub, you don't have much choice but to be inspired to relax as you take in the view.

The home has plenty of space for a large group as the open floor plan on the upper level joins the kitchen, dining and living room. On the lower entrance level, the large game room has a pool table and other games so guests can choose where to enjoy themselves.

The kitchen provides nice service for 12 and I always appreciate when there are a few spices and other staples available.

Jill was very responsive both in the days before and during our stay. The driveway is steep, there is a flight of stairs to the main level and the ever present highway din may be considered drawbacks for some. But for us they weren't deterrents and we would love it if we had an opportunity to return.
