About the property

4 bedroom 3 bath view home with hot tub, great back yard, fireplace & pool table

Unwind, reboot and recharge here where the spectacular view will take your breath away. Whether enjoying the stunning panoramic Columbia River view from almost every room and the expansive front deck and hot tub, challenging your family and friends to a rousing game of pool or darts, or cooking a delicious meal together in the large open living/dining/kitchen, this is the perfect vacation get-away. A/C, WiFi, music speakers inside and out, grassy backyard with hammock and firepit for roasting s'mores and great conversation. Our home is less than 10 minutes to downtown Hood River and 45 minutes to Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Area. Return home to a soak in the hot tub after biking, windsurfing, kiting, hiking or rafting or enjoy the cozy fireplace for your your apres-ski pleasure. Enjoy a glass of wine from the deck and watch the sun set over the Columbia. Direct view of the windsurfing/kiting launch-- know what sail/kite you will rig before you even leave the house! The access to the water is quick and easy.

This is a perfect launching pad for wine tasting in the Hood River or in Washington from Bingen to Maryhill with a few great wineries and cideries right in Mosier to taste and enjoy their views.

Mosier has as very cool vibe with two restaurants (Mosier Company and Rack & Cloth) serving incredible, locally sourced food, beer, wine, cider and spirits often times coupled with live music on their outdoor patios. Both are an easy walk from our house. There is also a cute ice cream parlor in the summer (Route 30 Classics). They also have a fleet of e-bikes available for rent to enjoy the incredible, empty roads in Mosier. A new small grocery store is scheduled to open in Spring 2018.

Mosier offers it all in a less crowded and more affordable package including savings of 8% in lodging tax versus Hood River. All this while still being a short 6 mile drive to downtown Hood River.

Our house offers world class road biking right from the front door with direct access to The Old Columbia Highway (Route 30) and the amazing Mosier Tunnel Trail to Hood River. You can also take a short hike from the house to the beautiful Mosier Creek Waterfall and miles of incredible wildflowers. Access to the Columbia River via Rock Creek waterfront park is only a 3 minute drive down the hill. This provides an incredible launching point for kitesurfing, windsurfing, paddle boarding, kayaking and swimming.

Our house is very kid and family friendly, and perfect for a large group. It is located on a quiet cul de sac that is perfect for kids to bike, scooter and skateboard on while the parents can watch over them from the decks and patios.

Four bedrooms. Upstairs has master with queen bed and en-suite bath. Second bedroom upstairs has a full bed and twin bunk beds. There is a second full bath upstairs. Large sectional couch in the living room easily sleeps two if needed. Downstairs has a full bath with shower and a bedroom with queen bunks and another bedroom with a queen bed. There is a double futon downstairs as well as the pool table and dart board.

We have a beautiful 2 bedroom, 1 bath guest house on the property that is also available to rent (VRBO Listing #1218109, "Hawk's Nest"). This guest house sleeps 6 comfortably and when rented in conjunction with Hawk's View, allows parties of up to 20 (14 in Hawk's View and 6 in Hawk's Nest) to be together yet have space to spread out and have a second kitchen. The Nest guest house can also be rented separately from Hawk's View main house.

We encourage fun but being respectful to our neighbors is top priority. No loud parties allowed.

Parking is limited to 4 vehicles. Our home sits on a steep hill which makes for great views but the driveway is very steep. If it's at all icy we advice that you park on the street and walk up. This can be challenging for those without sure footing.

Cancellations: Bookings canceled at least 60 days before the start of the stay will receive a 100% refund. No refund if canceled within 60 days. (Security Deposit will be refunded).

You must be a minimum of 30 years of age to rent our home.

About Jill Hawkins

We fell in love with the Gorge in the 1990's. Windsurfing was the initial draw but the astounding beauty and access to world class recreation-mt and road biking, rafting, hiking, fishing, golfing, and more kept us coming back. The restaurants and shops are top notch and the wine tasting and access to local produce are stellar! We chose to build our home in Mosier because of it's unique Columbia River views and it's small town charm. It's so close to all that Hood River offers but you feel greater calm and serenity here. We built our home ourselves in 1999 and are happy you are considering it for your next vacation.

Why Jill Hawkins chose Mosier

Our home is well suited for families, couples, or groups of friends looking for a relaxing and fun get-away. The view is spectacular, looking straight down the stunning Columbia River Gorge. The home is perfect for entertaining with it's open concept on the main floor yet each bedroom is cozy and private.

What makes this house unique

You can bike from home to the Mosier Twin Tunnel Trail and other amazing road bike options. The strong consistent winds coupled with smaller crowds at the local windsurf/kite beach (Rock Creek), which you can see from the house, make this a perfect launch pad for the windsurfer/kiter.

Our home is cozy, spacious and perfectly situated in the charming small town of Mosier. While less than 10 minutes from downtown Hood River, you feel away from it all at our home and get to enjoy views you can't get anywhere else in the Gorge. This home is the perfect launch pad for recreation, wine tasting, or site-seeing. Or, just relax at home in the hammock on a nice day or in front of the fire on a chilly day.

Amazing House - Amazing Views - Amazing Value

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed here to celebrate my brother in law's and my, birthday. The house is amazing with plenty of room for entertaining as well as sleeping. The view is absolutely breathtaking and I did not get tired of using the provided binoculars to glass the river and the hills. The kitchen is well stocked and their were spices and condiments in the fridge. We had to reach out to the owner to ask a question about the hot tub and she was super responsive and friendly. Additionally this house is very kid friendly! There is a changing table and high chair, as well as bunks and TONS of toys and games (for all ages).

This house is going to the top of our favorites for the gorge. I look forward to the next trip we take here!

Great group getaway

  • 5 of 5

Great vacation house! Very comfortable for 5 couples, with ample space to be together in a big group or spread out in the basement, living room, hot tub, and backyard. Loved the view. Clear communication from booking through check-out. Would certainly stay again!

Clean and comfortable...just like home.

  • 5 of 5

Great view, activities at the house to keep kids occupied if weather is bad. We had a group of 5 kids and 6 adults and we had plenty of room to roam in the house. Open floor design adds to the layout. Lots of bedrooms and bathrooms. Driveway is a little steep so we backed up for easier access. Had no problem parking a sedan and suv. Would stay again if in area.

Spacious home with a lovely view

  • 4 of 5

This is a really spacious house with a great view. You can't beat the hot tub on the deck, overlooking the Gorge. The house is spacious, and laid out nicely. We walked around the neighborhood a lot and found a cool hike through an old cemetery to a waterfall. Jill was accommodating when we decided to bring our dog last minute (and she agreed to mail a DVD back to us that we left in the DVD player, whoops). She was very communicative with us, which I appreciated!

There was an issue with the plumbing in one bathroom, the bathtub drained extremely slowly. I notified the owners and I assume they'll fix. Otherwise, no complaints!

Owner's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed your stay Lindsay. Thanks for renting out home and leaving it in great shape! Thanks also for letting us know about the slow draining tub. Sorry for that inconvenience. It's all clear now and draining nicely. Come again!

Big open areas, nice view and access to Hood River

  • 5 of 5

One of our 4 vehicles made it even near the driveway on a snowy weekend, so beware. Otherwise a lovely property in a great location outside of town overlooking a bend in the Columbia. Jill was very accommodating, understanding, and quick to respond when I was initially attempting to enter the wrong door of the house.

Great house for families!

  • 4 of 5

We have an annual trip we do with a group of friends, this house was definitely the best house yet! Very kid friendly- sippy cups, changing table, bunk beds, toys- designed for families. Also very accessible to downtown Mosier, walked to the Christmas Bazar and also to dinner at MoCo. Loved our stay!
