About Ann Somers

The Somers family returned home to the coast of Maine in 2010 with the purchase of this amazing cottage. The design, colors and furnishings were a family project. Life is a balance between celebrations, play and relaxation at Seaclusion cottage.

Why Ann Somers chose Mid-Coast & Islands

Belfast has become our family's favorite place to visit. Some of us grew up here, some went to college in Maine and others have grown to love this happening city! The cottage is a place to gather and create new memories! It is a thrill to be able to share the sound of loons, seals, bellboys and the waves with our guests and family.

What makes this cottage unique

Whether sitting around the table, lounging by the fire, or reading a book on the porch, the sea is always in view! Sunrises, sunsets, kayak trips, walks on the beach and watching the moon rise on the bay make for a perfect day.

The cottage is a perfect home base for visiting Acadia National Park, Camden - state park and city, Rockland - museums and great food, Searsport - Marine Museum, great shopping in Freeport and all along the coast! The adventures are endless but walking the beach in search of treasures is the best!

Relaxing, beautiful, clean cottage

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay here. It is so nice to be on vacation and not feel like you have to do anything because the place you are staying is the ACTUAL vacation. (But, if you want to explore--Belfast is a cute town and the town is not too far from Acadia National Park.) Waking up to the water view each morning was so relaxing; sitting on the screened-in porch in the evening--listening to the waves and the crickets-- was amazing!

Clean, well kept and beautifully decorated with an unsurpassed view of the bay.

Stayed for a month and enjoyed the experience very much. The fireplace was useful on chilly evenings and in the early mornings.

Amazing spot on the water

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I booked this cottage to celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary, my wife's completion of her master's degree, and our first pregnancy. Having been to Maine one time before, I was excited to go back. We stayed 7 nights in this wonderfully equipped cabin. Other reviews will touch on how great Ann is and how we wanted for nothing; I agree with them 100%. We were looking for a very relaxing vacation. We didn't want to have a detailed agenda, but being 20 and 30 somethings, we wanted plenty of opportunity for adventure, too. We got exactly that. I knocked out two books on the porch, watching the sun go down and watching the chipmunks scurry around. The town of Belfast is very charming. We had lobsters at Young's, which is right down the street, and went across the bridge into downtown to explore and eat. I recommend Nautilus for a good seafood meal. Delvino's was a pretty good Italian spot too. We also visited several farmers markets and the co-op, allowing us to cook at the cottage multiple times. The cottage is a great home base for exploring the Maine coast. We were able to see the Fort Knox Observatory, Bar Harbor, Schoodic Penninsula, and Camden with relative ease.

Don't let the other cabins in the area spook you off. Ann's is on the very edge, right on the water. We had people around us in every direction, and still felt completely alone. It is perfect.

We would book this cottage again in a heartbeat. And hope to some day!

Thanks Ann, for everything.

Wonderful choice!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I recently spent 4 nights at Seaclusion Cottage and highly recommend it. It is very comfortable, with all the amenities, convenient to many attractions, and reasonably priced. It was built to take advantage of the beautiful view of the Penobscot Bay. We loved sitting on the screened in porch with our coffee or wine while enjoying the view. The beds are comfortable and it was very quiet. The owner is terrific to deal with and very responsive. She has thought of everything! Will definitely stay again.

Wonderful stay with a great view

  • 5 of 5

This little cottage on the water is a real gem. The cottage itself is very well stocked with everything you need - fully stocked kitchen, and nice quality sheets and towels. It is very clean and the owners are easy to work with. It sits right on the water and you can enjoy the views from the screened in porch. It is a peaceful, lovely place.

Hated to leave!

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a week at this lovely little cottage on Penobscot Bay. The cottage is in pristine shape, immaculately clean, well-equipped, has a very comfortable queen-sized bed in the master bedroom, a full and a half bath and a million dollar view! The pictures on the site are very accurate. No surprises when arriving. When we arrived on May 13 we were the only ones staying at this little cottage community. Towards the end of the week a few people arrived in some of the other cabins. The quiet and solitude were very welcomed and this cottage has the absolute best view of all of them. Our first few days were cold and rainy so we appreciated the gas fireplace in the living room which was very easy to use. There was one 90 degree day while we were there but the breezes from the bay kept us cool. It was comforting to see the air conditioner, just in case we needed it. This location is so convenient for exploring the mid east coast of Maine, whether you are going north to the Acadia region or south to Camden and Rockland. Another bonus was that Ann was so helpful and easy to contact. My husband was taking a class given by Bluejacket Boat Models in Searsport but the class was held at the Fireside Inn, half a mile from the cottage. It couldn't have been more convenient for us. And, did I mention the view? We had a couple of lobster dinners at Youngs, just down the road, and were very pleasantly surprised by our Chinese dinner at Ming's. There are several shops nearby selling items made in Maine. My favorites are Mainely Pottery and Lupine Cottage. If we visit the Belfast area again this will be my first choice for accommodations. And, did I mention the view?

Dear Guests, We have a DVD not a VCR. There is an free standing air conditioner that worked great in 2014 the few times cooling was needed - really helps to pull out humidity. We listen to suggestions from our guests and accommodate if possible or desirable. Thanks, Ann and family
