About the property

Two Bedroom 2 Bath Ski Run Corner On Ground Floor Of Giant Steps Building 3.

Location! Location! Location! This 2bdr 2ba ski condo is on the ski run corner and the 1st floor so it is in the absolute best spot for ski (or ride) in and out to the giant steps ski lodge, or chairs 2 or 3. You can watch the riders in the new tubing park through the corner windows in the warmth of the cozy living room. Enclosed parking is directly below the unit. There is a shared jacuzzi hot tub and sauna in the building, as well as two more between buildings 1 and 2.

NEW tubing area and snow play area is just outside the door, with lighted night skiing on chair 3 and in the tubing park on weekend and holiday nights. This corner unit has additional balcony and window space. Unit is fully equipped for cooking and has cable tv in each bedroom, as well as in the living room. The ski resort's Giant Steps day lodge now features live music on Saturday nights and you can easily walk there. This unit is very comfortable and convenient for families. It may not be as fancy as some units, but it is clean and cozy. New flooring installed 12/2016, as well as flat screen tv's in each bedroom and the living room. Living room also has a blue tooth sound system that is connected to the tv for improved sound. New couch with dual recliners, new Lazy Boy rocker/recliner, and new oversized love seat 9/2017.

Please, no smoking or pets in the unit. Payment via PayPal only

Nightly rates are lower than most Giant Steps units (they all have the same floor plan, except the top floor units have lofts; HOT and you have to walk up 3 flights of stairs in our thin air) because it has some 'vintage' furnishings, but the location is second to none.

Book the best location on the actual mountain that most skiers/boarders prefer to use.

Reserve early for best selection of dates.

About R. Bruce Pocock

We have skied and boarded all over the western U.S., Canada, and a bit in Europe. Since we live in Needles, Ca., there are not many ski areas as close as Brianhead that get reasonable amounts of natural snow. We have owned this unit since it was built in 1984. We love it here!

R. Bruce Pocock purchased this condo in 1984

Why R. Bruce Pocock chose Brian Head

We selected in building #3 while it was being built. We liked the extra windows on the corner units, and wanted a condo on the ground floor, closest to the ski run so that it would be easy to dash in for a hot drink, to get lunch or a snack (or some other type of fortification), and be right back out on to the slopes. The thin air (highest base elevation of any ski area in the country @ over 9,000') makes every flight of stairs a major ordeal, especially now that we are a little older:)

What makes this condo unique

Covered underground parking makes it easier to bring your stuff in and out of your car. A dumbwaiter carries it up and down for you without being out in the snow. The ski run corner makes it easy to get on and off the slopes.

You get what you pay for

  • 2 of 5

I feel that reviews are to give information on what you are paying for and here as advertised this place is the best value although there are some issues. The add says it's not fancy but there is a huge difference in out dated and worn out! The 2 beds are both full size which is very difficult for 2 adults to sleep on, not to mention they desperately need to be replaced. They were so uncomfortable and we could not get a full nights sleep. My family can deal with no flat screen tv's, shotty internet and outdated decor although when we cannot sit comfortably on any of the 3 sofas because they are so worn out. On the positive side, the owners communication and information was outstanding. It is very clean. The condo is ski in and for the most part ski out with a short walk to the lift which made it very convenient. The kitchen is fully stocked with anything you would need. Convenient underground parking but just a warning our truck fit with only inches to spare.

Owner's Response: We are sorry that you did not feel that GS #61 was a fair value. We continue to believe that our unit is actually quite comfortable. The beds are all queen size, not standard size, and that size is the most common one found in most rentals. Both of the bedroom beds have memory foam toppers and, though no fold out bed can be as comfortable as a conventional one, we picked this one as better than most. An altitude of nearly 10,000 feet will make the first few nights sleep difficult on any bed:) Sofa beds also do not make for the most comfortable sitting, either. When we replaced our old (blue) one with the new one, we decided to keep the old one for its extra sitting (or laying) space. After a tough ski/board day, we like to lie down on the sofas and watch tv. One person can lie on each sofa, + one usually in the love seat, and there is still room for one person to sit on each of the sofas. Very comfortable for us, anyway. The remolded units are certainly nicer to look at, but we do not believe they are worth the extra $20-$45 per night, especially when you add the value of being on the ground floor (10,000 ft = no oxygen), on the ski run corner, and in building #3 (the highest for ski out access). Some might gladly pay the extra $60 to $135 for a 3 night stay to be in a more deluxe unit and have to climb up to two flights of stairs from the slopes, or walk down the hall in ski boots; we would not. We have often had repeat stays from the same guest, and we continue to believe that GS #61 is the best value in Giant Steps.

Great Condo for our Family

  • 4 of 5

My family stayed in this unit over the Christmas holidays. It was a perfect unit for our family of 4. Plenty of room to spread out and the kitchen was stocked with everything you need to cook! The door to get to the ski in/out was just outside of our unit and we were able to walk to the torch light ceremony and fireworks at Giant Steps Lodge New Years Eve in addition to sledding right outside and skiing in/out! We could also walk to the new tubing area (and see it from our windows). The unit was also very quiet and great underground parking. We are going back next year!
