About Bruce Blew

Hello! My name is Bruce. Welcome to New Orleans. I am a retired Chemical Engineer, who presently owns & operates The Junque Shop Antique Store in the Faugborg Marigny, at the base of world famous Frenchmen Street. I personally renovated my home in 2005-2006.

Bruce Blew purchased this house in 2005

Why Bruce Blew chose New Orleans

This is a Raised 'Shotgun' Double built in 1929, completely renovated in 2005-2006. It is located in historic Algiers Point, the second oldest settlement in New Orleans. It was built by a lumber yard owner. The walls are 6 inches thick & reinforced diagonally. The 2006 renovation opened the home to one living area upstairs.

What makes this house unique

My home is an economical alternative to the French Quarter, and yet is just a four block walk or drive to the Algiers/Canal Street Car/Passenger Ferry. Historic Algiers Point is a quiet alternative to the fast French Quarter pace, and yet close enough to enjoy the full benefits of the French Quarter and all of New Orleans.

Great property, gorgeous antiques, very organized

  • 5 of 5

The property location is ideal, with ferry access to New Orleans; makes it easy. Neighborhood is quaint. Bruce is a fast, clear and well organized communicator and his vrbo is clean, beautifully arranged and has all the creature comforts.

Good experience

Very nice and spacious house, clean and everything we needed we didn't have was available.

  • 5 of 5

Home is located in a nice neighborhood just a few minutes walk from the ferry. There is a nice coffee shop just a short walk around the corner. There is a little Park on the corner that is great for kids. The neighborhood is quite and very safe to walk around in. We had no problems getting both cars in the driveway. Great place to stay with a large group plenty of room, how the house is split you kind of have your own sides of the house and privacy.

Just What I Expected

  • 5 of 5

Great stay and everything was stated correctly as to what I can expect during the visit. Will recommend & stay again for a large gathering/group. The whole process was good, easy to set up, and enjoyable for all that attended the trip. They loved the stay and how the house was setup. The ferry ride was great and owner Bruce explained things just the way it was asked of him. Thanks for making my daughter's 21st birthday the best ever. The only thing that needs to change are the streets need to be re-paved and better parking.

Owner's Response: I'm glad you had s great stay and enjoyed the house. I'll have to work on the city to replace the streets. It's New Orleans.

Lovely home, great location enabling us to experience an authentic New Orleans home and neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

We truly enjoyed our time in the house. Everything was neat and clean. There were plenty of towels and the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. The location was just perfect for us. We took the ferry over to New Orleans, which was a great mode of transportation as well as a lovely experience. We also drove in to the city a few times which was an easy drive. We loved having a peaceful retreat to return to after the bustling activity of the city. Would certainly rent this home again!

Phenomenal home, communication, and service

  • 5 of 5

The owner was extremely accommodating of our large group. The home was lovely and full of character. The kids enjoyed the pocket park and playground around the corner, and the ferry ride across the river to downtown New Orleans. Very positive experience - highly recommend.

My home is a four (4) block walk or drive to the Algier's Point/Canal Street Ferry. A five minute ferry ride to The base of the French Quarter leaves you by Harrah's Casino, Riverwalk Mall, Canal Mall & Cinema, and a short walk to all of the French Quarter.
