I am a retired Airline Pilot and U.S. Air Force Officer and Pilot. My wife is a former public school teacher. Over the years we have traveled the entire world. We have been fortunate to be able to live where we choose and not be tied down to where we worked.
For much of the year the west coast of Florida on the water is our primary home. My wife spent much of her young life growing up in New England and had roots there too. So it was natural that she was attracted to that area also. After years of looking we found the house on the lot with the location, view and neighborhood we were looking for. The tall evergreen and colorful deciduous trees in the fall, the smell of clean salt air and the amazing quiet all surrounded by the stunning natural beauty of the state of Maine made this a natural for a home away from home for us to go on a seasonal basis. We made friends with a nearby couple to rent the place, primarily when we are not there, after spending two years renovating and modernizing the spacious attached upstairs apartment. The center piece inside is the full size antique pool table. The focal point out side is the breathtaking Maine coast view right out back. Huge granite boulders, sea grass at the low point of 20 foot tides, lobster and lobster boats a clam shell toss away, with wading birds, the occasional seal and a passing bald eagle are all part of the Maine magic of this special place. Often the soulful sound of loons is heard drifting on that salt air. The distant mountains behind Camden are occasionally blocked by the sea fog rolling in. If ever there was a place to lose yourself and find peace, this is it.
