We had a great week staying in this house and property! It was clean, had all of the amenities described. It was private and the landscaping was lovely! The house was modern and all of the appliances worked great! Super happy with our whole experience! Only down side were the beds were smaller than a queen. They were more like doubles.

We stayed 4 nights at Tin Shack. Good location, rooms were spacious and comfortable with great pillows and linens. All bathroom necessities provided and AC worked well. Bonus was relaxing in a super clean hot tub and also the cute front porch patio with nature and wildlife to enjoy over coffee. We did experience some pesky sugar ants in the kitchen (yes, it is a tropical island) so didn't do much cooking.

Pros: beautiful house, great views, hot tub, lots of appliances and kitchenware for cooking, big bedrooms, huge upstairs bathroom, amazing plants, trees and creatures (snail, geckos, birds, and coqui frogs) on the property, a/c worked well throughout the house, on-site laundry, good parking, close to Paradise Cliffs which you can park at and walk on the trail. Nice to have our family of 5 (included 2 teenagers and a 9 year old) to have their own bed and the room upstairs get like two bedrooms as it was so big with bunk bed on one end and a full size on the other. Cons: stayed at other places and would like to have a more stocked kitchen with spices and such but did have some basics, the bed in the main bedroom wasn’t a king size bed (it was small for my wife and I but was comfortable), not convenient location to the grocery store (it was 18 minutes away) and about 25 minutes or so from Hilo. We made a day of it so wasn’t bad and we knew to meet our needs with our family we had to choose a place away from Hilo. The coqui frogs were loud but they had ear plugs on the nice stands and we use sound machines and couldn’t hear anything. Overall it was a great place to stay and would stay there again.

Spacious, Peaceful, and Ideal for Families - with Aloha!

We absolutely loved our stay at this VRBO and would return in a heartbeat! Despite the previous guests leaving a mess and causing a few minor issues, the owner went above and beyond to have everything ready and comfortable for us right away. Their responsiveness and care made all the difference. The home itself was one of the most peaceful places we stayed during our time in Hawaii. The upstairs had a spacious master suite and a perfect kids' room - complete with toys, books, kid-sized chairs, cozy bunk beds, and even a queen bed. The downstairs bedroom was equally great, with convenient access to the hot tub.Families with little ones will appreciate all the baby gear provided (high chair, baby bath, pack & play, activity seat, and more). The kitchen was well-equipped, and there was ample seating with a dining table and bar area. We spent hours relaxing on the upper balcony and lower deck, both offering beautiful breezes and natural light through screened sliding doors. Morning walks to the ocean with coffee in hand were a perfect start to each day.The decor was fresh and tasteful - not outdated like many other listings we considered. Honestly, we’re tempted to keep this gem a secret so it’s available when we return!

Beautiful house in a quiet location. The pictures depict the interior accurately. Seniors may consider the downstairs bedroom with ensuite. The large bedroom with bunks served well for our traveling baby to sleep in the provided pack and play with a sheet. Thank you for the thoughtful toys and books too. Curtains drawn provided good darkness for naps. Do not overlook the outdoor equipment box stocked with beach gear, ie; snorkels/fins, umbrella, beach chairs, noodles, cooler, etc. The kitchen is yet to be stocked with the necessities for longer stays and use, ie; spices, foil, food storage containers. We just improvised. And yes, use the fan on the stove as the smoke alarm is sensitive. Even the toaster set it off but easily remedied by fanning a towel at the alarm. The outdoor porches were enjoyed on the quiet mornings and to experience the gentle sound of the rain falling or pouring. Kaleo's Bar and Grill mentioned in the Hawaiian Tin Shack binder was a nearby family restaurant in Keaau with an inviting island breeze. All in all, our traveling needs were met and we loved our stay!

Amazing property! Perfect for my family of 6. Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable. Location was perfect for us to visit family. Only issue we had was with the smoke alarms going off when frying food. No vent above stove. We still loved our stay!
