We loved the lakehouse, the big kitchen, the cozy living room, the deck in the backyard and of course the beautiful view and lake. Kayaked and fished off the dock. Loved cooking and eating in the large kitchen. Felt like home for the 2 days we were there and we're planning on coming back in the summer for a longer stay!

Great Little Get Away

Stayed here for the weekend with some family and friends. The kids had a blast and we were all able to actually relax! Such an adorable property with lots of games/toys, quiet, extra bedding, and beautiful views day and night. Would definitely stay here again!

Adarondack lake house

We greatly enjoyed our stay at the lake house. This was our second time back. Check in process was easy. In communication it was good. The house is definitely quirky, but very charming. We loved having water access as well as kayaks available to use. The kitchen was well supplied. And the linens were nice and clean. The house definitely is showing some age andware, but definitely charming. Our only complaint was the lack of curtains and the fact that it seemed the floors had not been cleaned in quite some time.

We have been coming to Pleasant Lake for 25 years at a family camp. Due to that camp being turned into a full-time residence we needed a camp to rent to accommodate our large family gathering. We were so glad we found this place !!!! We had an excellent time the weather was PERFECT. Is it an older camp ABSOLUTELY! It's quite cute inside tastefully decorated a wonderful kitchen and deck leading to a lakefront lawn. The dock was handy for family to boat over and tie up. Little beach area for the kiddos, there a few rocks in the water so littles need to be watched so they don't fall and bump their heads. Owner was very quick to get back with any questions I had. We are already looking forward to staying again

Great ADK Lake Experience

Rustic, authentic Adirondack Lake House with plenty of room for the family. Plenty of outdoor equipment including a great dock to fish off of. Indoors was cozy with plenty of warming options on chilly nights and rainy days. Kitchen was well equipped and very spacious. Multiple dining areas including a very nice sun porch. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for authentic lake house experience.

The house was very charming and big enough for the 10 of us! The best part was having the beautiful lake in our backyard! Wish it was available in July so we could enjoy the dock and the kayaks more. Improvements could be queen not full sized beds, update shower and that’s it! Contact person was amazing and very helpful

The Pleasant Lake Stay

Beautiful, clean lake. Wonderful location right on lake. Loved the kayaks and the floats. Big country kitchen with all kinds of pots and pans and everything one needs. The shower has issues that need to be addressed. It drains very slowly. I understand the house is old and that adds to its charm but not when it comes to plumbing. That needs an overhaul. We had an awesome and wonderful time and will come again once the plumbing is improved.

Ladies Autumn Getaway

The house was as expected - charming and rustic. The full bath REALLY needs to be updated and the light repaired. The kitchen area was big and cozy, but having lights under the cabinets would have been idea. Under cabinet lighting would have helped when preparing meals and cooking. The one kitchen light in the center of the kitchen is inadequate. The sun room was lovely but cold since the space heater in that room was not working. The road to the property is dangerous. The address was hard to see from the highway since it was not lit up (there were lights around the address –but they didn’t function). The road to the property is dangerous. The road has deep and long ruts in it, which made it hazardous. We also saw mice – one in the kitchen and one on the side of the chimney. Although overall we enjoyed our stay, but for reasons already mentioned I would not book this home it again

Family visit to Adirondacks

When we arrived, the exterior of the property did not match the pictures online. It was in rough shape with faded peeling paint and junk piled on the porches. The light by the dock was broken. It was so different from the pictures, there’s a totally different deck and the paint is faded to an entirely different color, for instance- that I was not sure we were at the right place, or possibly a residence that hadn’t been opened for the season.The place itself is incredibly charming—perfect location. But it hadn’t been cleaned. Cobwebs, dust, dirt on decor, walls, corners, floors. The coffee table had crumbs and an old raisin and hair clip on it. The windowsill in kitchen by the sink had brown grime on them. The fridge had goop on the shelves and had a broken shelf. The microwave had food splatters baked on. The back kitchen door didn’t close and lock properly. The window treatments had gotten wet and were stained with mildew. The floor mats on the bathroom floor had dirt on them on arrival. There were rodent poison packets on the kitchen counter food prep surface and on the mantel. We had trouble getting WiFi connection when we arrived. The host, Caroline, was super helpful and polite! When I let Caroline know about the bad shape of the property, she was understanding and apologetic. She said her caretaker was having personal problems and was probably overwhelmed. She said she’d initiate a refund. I did take photos and send them to her. I haven’t heard back from her yet.

BEWARE- Online Description is not accurate

We left the property and started refund process within just a couple of hours of arriving. Exterior of House looks nothing like the photos online: Grass was not mowed, trash was on the front porch, paint was chipping, chairs were broken and taped together, back door to house was unlocked. Interior was no better; shower floors and walls were rusty, bath mats were wet and soiled, freezer had dried blood on the interior, beds did not appear to be freshly made with clean sheets since previous guests, mousetraps with dead mice on the mantle and fireplace hearth. After speaking with the owner about my concerns, she agreed to send out her cleaning lady. The cleaning lady showed up at 6 pm to mow the lawn only. Cleaning lady shares with us that photos online and description are old and from the previous owner, the current owner describes the bathroom and shower situation as “glamping”. The cleaning lady also believes that someone may be entering the house through the unlocked back door and staying there without permission. Although the view from the dock was just lovely and it is very difficult to find accommodations in such a remote area on short notice, we decided to leave in hopes that we would get our money refunded. I stay at VRBO properties quite a bit and I trust their product. However, This listing on the website needs to be updated immediately. This experience was incredibly disappointing, very inconvenient and expensive for my family

Great Lake House

Our summer stay was excellent. We had great weather, the lake was perfect. Kayaks and inflatables were well utilized. And the water was warm and swimable from dock and small beach, perfect for the kiddos. The room set up was perfect for our group, and the kitchen was big and functional. The lawn was not mowed, the shower bathroom was in rough shape, the grill is tiny, and the paddle board was broken. We couldn't get in touch with property manager, which wasn't a huge deal, but first night baby had to sleep in bed with us because we couldn't find the pack n play. All in all, it was good, and can't beat the Lake front location.

This was my second year there. We loved everything except the shower drain is sluggish, also there is a bad wet area near lake, think it’s water from the house! Couldn’t walk to dock without placing boards. I was going to rent for next year , but rate has doubled, so going to search other ones, don’t feel it’s worth the higher rate

We were concerned with the recent negative reviews popping up. The house is old. With that comes some issues that really didn’t bother us. It is beautiful. The old architecture mixed with the decor made it very comfortable for our 10 guests, 4 of which were under 8 years old. The kitchen was huge and the dining table accommodated us. The house was clean and comfortable. The decor was done so well. The lake was beautiful. Very clean and no issues with nails sticking out of the dock! New deck which was a plus but we stayed on the lake for the most part. We did have a slight problem with the shower it’s small and to wash a small child in it is a little tough. This won’t discourage a return. We were in driving distance to the Herkimer mines, Howe Caverns and even took a ride on the revolution rails in Hadley. We also recommend the pleasant lake inn for dinner. The staff is wonderful and really catered to the kids! We had so much fun!

Needs updating and New Housekeepers!!

The good things, the kayak the paddle boat even though the paddle boat was filthy and we had to clean it out. The dock was nice but does not look like the picture it looks very old when you see it up close hasn't been painted and I don't know how long. The view was fantastic and the patio was nice to sit on in the morning with a cup of coffee. Now all the bad stuff, picnic table was all torn up looks like it hasn't been taking care of at all. The lawn was not mow , couldn't have a fire outside cuz the grass was so long around the fireplace, didn't tell us where the wood was we just happened to come across it when we went in the shed to get the life jacket also the steps leading up to the shed was dangerous when one of the ladies almost fell. That's probably not all of it but I can't remember it all. I would not recommend it for the money that they want for it that's just crazy. Beware!!!

Beautiful location

The house was very pretty, comfortable, and generally well-equipped. The views over the lake were beautiful, and the hiking trails were close and convenient. The fireplace was so warm and easy to use, and the general feeling was cozy and relaxing. The kitchen had plenty of supplies for cooking, although the coffee maker is small. The microwave and refrigerator were large and clean. Our only issue was the bathroom downstairs was dirty - hair still in the shower drain, rusted walls in the shower, and the entire room in desperate need of an overhaul. Also, the kitchen oven didn't look like it had been cleaned in ages. I ended up scrubbing the kitchen and bathrooms down, just because of my own cleanliness issues. However, the owner was quick to respond to my email about the issues. In general, I would stay again, because we had a wonderful time and loved the location. The beds were comfortable and the place was very warm, even in the snowy cold weather. For families with young children, there was a lovely kids room with a chalk wall. There was also a great supply of books and dvd's. However, I'm hoping the owners start to devote some funds to repair the bathroom and/or get a better cleaning crew.

Beautiful location but a bit more rustic than expected.

This house is in a great location, tucked back in the woods, very private and right on the lake. We all skipped some stones one afternoon! The view was great! It has comfortable beds, a huge kitchen/dining room table and has lots of bedrooms. In those respects it was a good fit for our family. A couple of things could be improved for future visitors comfort and convenience. The cell service is not just spotty, it's not available. I'm not sure there is a fix to this but we had several brands and carriers, none of them got any service in the house. This is a nice feature when you are trying to get away from it all, but if there were a medical emergency handling it would be a bit of a challenge. There is WiFi that is a bit slow but does work. The cleanliness of the home could be much improved. The oven and floors, especially in the kitchen, were in need of a really good scrubbing. The shower is very camp-like as is the rest of the house. One of the bedrooms was missing the door which doesn't work that well when there are multiple families sharing the house. I alerted my contact to an electrical issue in the kitchen light, perhaps a short. Needs more lighting in all the rooms. This might be a new listing for this renter and so maybe it just needs a bit more work to make it a five-star gem.
