Amazing Gifft Hill Villa! Villa Mangaade is a delightful Caribbean home with panoramic water views of the Pillsbury Sound and St. Thomas. The evenings provide spectacular sunset views and at night you will enjoy the twinkling lights of St. Thomas. The villa, built by Tom Bertolino, features beautiful St. John stonework, dramatic vaulted ceilings and Schnell lighting.

This spacious 3 bedroom / 3 bathroom villa is your idyllic island home. The villa has all the comforts of of home--AC in the great room and all bedrooms, WiFi, Cable TV in loft and at the pool bar, Smart TVs in all 3 bedrooms and safes for your valuables, washer and dryer, and hair dryers. The villa also has lovely island amenities such as outdoor showers and 7 different outdoor living spaces. The villa is rented for groups up to 6 people.

The dramatic floor to ceiling sliding doors, that run across the entire width of the main floor, provide breathtaking water views. Open the doors to enjoy the soothing trade-winds and step onto the large balcony to have your morning coffee in the relaxing rocking chairs. The fully equipped and newly remodeled galley kitchen opens up to an outdoor dining patio with a convenient gas BBQ grill and table.

The large lap pool, outdoor bar, private sun deck and hanging hammock chairs will make your day at the villa fun and memorable. You may even spot an iguana or two!

Villa Mangaade, which means Mango Lane, is located on Gifft Hill, about 600 feet above sea level. It is a quick 7 minute drive to Cruz Bay town. We look forward to hosting you and sharing our piece of paradise!

We love our island and are powered by the sun with a state of the art solar system! The local power company, WAPA, is extremely unreliable and brown outs and black outs happen daily. You will never lose power at Villa Mangaade!

Immaculately clean rental with amazing views! Our family of 6 enjoyed returning to the villa after a full day of island adventures. It was the perfect place to relax and have family time. The villa was well stocked with all needed amenities including bug spray and first aid. The outdoor spaces were a great place to take in the views, flora, and fauna. We spotted iguanas, hummingbirds, bats, and assorted other lizards while we lounged by the pool. Communication with the property Manager, Monic, was fantastic. Would highly recommend!

Absolute Perfection! Villa Mangaade is a traveler’s dream. The long views of St. Thomas to the west, the pool set amongst rustling palms, the mango trees, the vibrant, lush grounds, the open kitchen and living areas looking out to the Caribbean, the easy, stock-your-kitchen-ahead-of-time grocery deliveries from Landlubber Logistics (ask for Cory), the outdoor showers connected to each bedroom, the hammocks, the night sounds….this is simply a blissful retreat at the top of Gifft Hill. Monic is the loveliest property manager and she’ll answer all your questions. We were there for Spring Break and it was comforting to know that the Villa’s solar system powered our stay. We saw mongoose, iguanas, songbirds and clear constellations each night. Can’t recommend Villa Mangaade enough. You’ll want to be a Castaway here and never return home! Stacy Clark

We LOVED our stay at beautiful Villa Mangaade! We were there for a week with our two adult children on our first visit to St. John. The location is amazing - very private and with stunning views. The house had all sorts of amenities that made our stay enjoyable, including all the beach stuff we needed (towels, chairs, cooler) and even snorkling jackets! The kitchen was well-equipped and we enjoyed cooking some dinners and eating out on the deck or by the pool. It was great coming back to the house after a day of swimming, snorkeling, hiking and jumping in the pool. A special treat was watching the hummingbirds feed on the flowering bush just outside the front door. Monic, the caretaker in St. John, was very attentive and sent us great suggestions for things to do and places to see. (Thanks for recommending we make early reservations at Morgan's Mango - fantastic restaurant). Thanks also to the owner, Melissa, for answering our many questions before our trip. We hope to come back!

This is a fantastic property in a great location with easy access to Cruz Bay and the beaches. The house is exactly as pictured - very clean and the kitchen is well stocked. Both showers on the main level are outdoor showers, which was nice to keep the humidity out of the house. The temp is warm enough it wasn’t a problem at all, and they were also very clean. The lower level bedroom cannot be accessed without going outside. It was not a problem for us, but just something to be aware of. We loved the outdoor spaces, including the hammock chairs. I sat on the deck with my coffee and enjoyed the view every morning. The pool was cold - my son jumped in once, but that was it. The driveway is hard to find. The property manager will offer to meet you in Cruz Bay and drive with you to the house - I would recommend this. I did not do that and had trouble finding it in the dark. As others have mentioned, the driveway is very steep, as are many roads around the island. We had a Jeep Grand Cherokee, but I wish we had a Wrangler with better tires for the terrain. Overall a great property, and I would stay here again.

Perfect getaway with everything you need

This was our second time staying at Villa Mangaade. We loved it in 2022 and it has only improved since then — new built-ins to keep everyone organized and new furniture in the main living spaces. For our group of five, it offered a great mix of space to be together and space to spread out. The owner and property manager are very responsive and helpful. Highly recommend.

Lovely house with lovely gardens. Very private.You ever write a review and think "I can't give This a too good a review because other people will rent the house and it won't be available next time I want it for my vacation?". Well that's how I feel but the people are just too nice for me not to share the wonderful experience we had. So clean with all the conveniences you could wish for and a very well equipped kitchen. Went out with the kids at night using flashlights to find the tree frogs, sold your crabs and other critters. Hope we can get back there soon.

Amazing week with family and friends

Our week stay at Villa mangaade was wonderful. Check in and communication with the property manager before and during our stay was above and beyond our expectations. We had previously stayed in the same area so were familiar with the steep driveways and hairpin turns that can at first be intimidating. The house was immaculate and the few minor issues were handled immediately by Monic. The outdoor space was one of a kind and our young boys loved looking for wildlife on the property. We would absolutely stay again!

We stayed for a week at the end of March 2023. We had a wonderful time and the property was beautiful. Nice shaded area by the pool for afternoon drinks and snacks. Super comfortable beds and the cutest decor! The property manager was very quick to respond to any email but was not pushy or too in our business, which we really appreciated. I would totally go back to this property and would highly recommend to stay here. I loved the tree with the eye….

Welcome Escape

Villa Mangaade served as a wonderful home base for us. Pulling up the drive for the first time, we felt we had reached paradise. Actually, we felt that way every time we pulled up the drive and walked in the door. The villa is infused with natural light from the wall of windows that highlight the view to the west. The interior is inviting and comfortable, and the grounds are beautiful. We started our day on the deck, sipping coffee, eating breakfast, and chatting with the pearly eyed thrashers who'd drop by to say hello. We left our windows open at night to fall asleep listening to the creatures of the night. Cruz Bay was a quick drive from the villa for groceries and restaurants and shopping. When not relaxing at the villa, we spent our time visiting different snorkel spots. Snorkeling was the draw for us to St. John, and it was a real highlight. Grateful for our stay at Villa Mangaade, and we were sad to part ways.

Beautiful sunset views and great location!

We really enjoyed watching sunsets from the balcony. The landscaping is amazing and the local wildlife was friendly; we really enjoyed listening to the nighttime serenades from the coquis and birds. The rain sounded amazing on the roof. The location was perfect- about ten minutes to Cruz Bay, and we had two different routes we could go which came in handy when there was an accident blocking the road. It was also easy access to all the roads on island leading to town or towards the East End. The mango trees were amazing- so many mangoes growing (sad they weren’t in season.) The layout was great and would afford privacy to multiple couples with the bedrooms being on opposite ends of the house and one downstairs. Being able to do laundry was convenient. We cooked a few nights and all the cookware and utensils we needed was provided. The beach chairs and cooler were great as were the baskets of beach towels and pool towels. The pool was refreshing after snorkeling all day. Communication with the owner during booking process was great; she provided recommendations that were useful. Communication with property manager Monic was amazing- she was very responsive and also gave good snorkeling and restaurant recommendations. Make sure you have reef safe sunscreen and bug spray because you will definitely need both on Island. A Jeep will also be needed to navigate the Island roads and the driveway. Overall we had a wonderful stay. Thank you!

Beautiful Vacation Home. It had everything we needed!

We had a wonderful stay at Villa Mangaade. We were two couples traveling together and the house was perfect. We each had a king bedroom on opposite ends of the house, both with gorgeous water views, comfortable beds, and outdoor showers. There is a third bedroom that you access from the pool deck that we didn't use, but it would be perfect if traveling with another couple or family. The kitchen was very well equipped and we were pleasantly surprised to find some snacks and drinks waiting for us when we arrived after a long day of travel! The outdoor areas of this home are great with nice seating on the top deck for coffee in the mornings and a great outdoor dining table on the pool deck. Although we didn't end up using it (We couldn't tear ourselves away from the happy hour at Longboard! Those frozen Painkillers are not to be missed!), the pool bar was great and well equipped. We also loved the lounge chairs and hammock swings on the lower deck. The house was centrally located and just a short drive from Cruz Bay. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and such a nice setting to come home to after a day at the beach. There were plenty of coolers, beach chairs, and umbrellas available to use. We really had everything we needed to enjoy the most wonderful vacation on St. John. We highly recommend this property!

Wonderfully located beautiful villa

From the very beginning even before booking, Melissa was quick to respond to inquiries. She and her property manager Monic are absolutely wonderful. Upon arrival, the villa was very clean and looked exactly like the photos. We’ve been staying in villas on St John for 10 years now. What truly sets this property apart aside from the owner and property manager’s customer service, is the villas amenities. Truly nothing was spared or missed. They provide separate bath, pool and quick dry beach towels well in excess of the number of guests, the kitchen is stocked with everything you could possibly want. Shampoo, conditioner, soap and paper products are provided in quantities that don’t require running out to the market. The house is spacious and set up in a way that allows for your group to spend time comfortably together or separately. There are lots of games to play too, they truly thought of everything. Our two young boys, ages 6 & 8 loved the pool, it was the first thing they did each day and the last thing they did before bed. There are nice shady spots to relax outside and my parents enjoyed using the grill while my husband and I went out for dinner at my favorite restaurant on island, Extra Virgin. The location is superb. In less than 5 minutes, you’re at Shambles and Windmill Bar. Coco Jim’s is just a couple minutes further. 7 minutes to Cruz Bay and 10 minutes to most of the beaches. We enjoyed our time at Villa Mangaade and would highly recommend. Thank you!

Beautiful view and beyond

This property did not disappoint. We had a lovely stay with our 1 year old twins. One of the best parts of our stay was Monic! She is the property manager. Not only did she send us a list of recommendations, she made our arrival (especially with little ones) a dream. We had groceries from the Starfish Market and baby gear from island baby delivered to the home and ready on our arrival. House was clean. Beds comfy. Stocked with all the things we needed. Very happy. We enjoyed a different beach everyday. It took us about 20-30 minutes to all of the top beaches on the north shore. Cruz Bay was an easy 10 minutes. We loved having a rental car to explore - it was a must for us (we rented on St. Thomas and took the car ferry). The views are as photographed. They are just beautiful. We enjoyed sunrise and sunset - such a relaxing and peaceful place. Great place to listen to the frogs. The pool was a little chilly for us (at the end of February) - best used at the warmest time of the day. That didn’t stop us (but we are from the Midwest). My favorite part may have been the two outdoor showers. Sooo relaxing. The third bedroom downstairs is only accessible by the outdoor stairs (no direct access to the main living space). Stairs with good lighting options at night. If you stay here - you must check out the Windmill for a view (and cocktail) at sunset. They had live music on the weekend. We also really enjoyed a casual meal at Shambles. Both locations casual dining or drinks / no reservations / ~5 minute drive. Lastly, the owner was very responsive. We added a few days to our stay. She was so speedy and accommodating. Would stay again. Thanks!

Great STJ Home

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Mangaade! Very well appointed home with well stocked kitchen and amenities. House feels more like a home rather than a rental property. Definitely appreciate the owner's touch and feel throughout. The lap pool is amazing and the deep end keeps the water temperature perfect. Really cool outside bar adjacent to pool was huge bonus. Location was wonderful as it provided for ease to both Cruz Bay and Centerline Rd (Hwy 10) for trips to Coral Bay and Hwy 206 cut off. Lots of fun with the switchbacks. Property manager Monic and owner are both delightful and very responsive! We look forward to returning.

Delightful and Unique!

We loved staying here! The views are gorgeous, the pool is delightful. It's unusual to have a pool long enough for laps and we swam every day. The three bedrooms worked well for us, with the teens having a separate entrance downstairs. The house is well kept and well supplied. The location is nice - close enough to town but it feels remote, with easy access to the beaches and the inland groceries and restaurants. We'd definitely return.

Very special, well-appointed getaway; Perfect mix of privacy and convenience

We highly recommend this very special property. Although we were only a party of four (two adults, two teens), we opted for all three bedrooms and were glad we did. There were tons of indoor and outdoor spaces for everyone to come together and steal some time away for themselves. (The teens especially enjoyed the pool and the hammock chairs.) The property is beautifully maintained and organized (love the labels on all the switches!). It was the perfect jumping off point to head to Cruz Bay and to the North Shore beaches. The property manager, Monic, is extremely responsive and helpful. Don’t hesitate to book this wonderful villa.

Beautiful Home and view.

This is a wonderful property. Beautifully landscaped and kept up. It has wonderful areas to enjoy family time together. There are two lovely decks, seating areas, a pool and bar area that are all inviting for socializing and relaxing. We were pleased with everything about the property. Monic was our VRBO contact and was easy to get in touch with and check our needs before and during our stay. 5 stars earned!

We have been vacationing to St. John for over almost 2 decades and were married on Trunk Bay. Love City indeed, STJ has special meaning for us and our children who have grown up with many Spring Break memories of the beaches on St. John. We love the community with its mix of folks that moved here in the 60s and 70s and newcomers who have discovered the beauty and tranquility of the Island.

Why they chose this property

Villa Mangaade had everything we wanted in an island home and more. We love the comfortable Caribbean architecture and the unique St. John stonework which became a favorite feature of ours in many of the villas we have rented on the island. The layout of the property offers plenty of space and privacy for our family providing everyone with their own bedroom and bathroom. Outdoor showers and an extensive outdoor entertainment area with a fabulous pool was a must.

The biggest surprise of this property are the huge boulders that greet you when you first turn into the driveway and continue to the entrance. We are so fortunate to have this natural landscaping and continue to make these rocks a signature feature of the villa.

What makes this property unique

After touring the villa with our realtor, we instantly fell in love with the property. At lunch that same day, we coincidentally ran into the builder, Tom Bertolino. We knew at that moment this was our villa. He gave us the history on the house and told us the villa was originally named Mangaade (meaning Mango Lane) for all the mango trees on the property. We thought it very good karma to revert to the original name of the villa and in that instant Villa Mangaade was reborn.
