Enjoy your Master Bedroom with private bath. Indulge in your European steam shower and marble-tiled, dual-head shower spa. Your separate media room comes equipped with a 42' flat screen TV with Apple TV, a Wii and Wii Fit for gaming enthusiasts, and built-in, custom-carpeted, stadium seating for enjoying with family and friends! Besides enjoying a game, Blue Ray DVD, or your own movies and music via apps like Netflix and iTunes, feel free to enjoy a book, play a board game, or pass an afternoon on the second story outdoor seating area watching the sail and power boats explore the coast. Your custom kitchen, part of a recent hundred thousand dollar renovation, waits just inside, where you can fix anything from French 75's to a pitcher of frozen margaritas-- or gourmet cook to your hearts content-- while drinking in the visual beauty of the Carolina coast or listening to shore birds and the clinking of the ships' rigging... Downstairs, one bedroom is perfect for young children with its two day beds, comfortingly enclosed on three sides. Two roll-out trundles are great for siblings. Or, the bedroom can be put to good use by single friends maximizing space on vacation! Enjoy the back porch swing and two bathrooms from which to choose: one with a custom, marble-tiled shower enclosure with its own water-heater to ensure endless showers or another with a Jacuzzi jetted-tub large enough for couples or young children and their friends! A second bedroom is perfect for couples or siblings with its full-size, handmade solid pine daybed with full-size, roll-out trundle. Both bedrooms also feature sail chairs--comfortable and nearly indestructible-- made locally from up-cycled, racing-grade, boat sail!. The third bedroom, with full-size bed, antique side table and blanket chest, is well-suited to grandparents or another couple. It is also the location of the wireless router which affords high speed internet throughout the home. Your upstairs custom kitchen has bar seating as well as a more formal dining area for eight. In addition to typical amenities, enjoy your Keurig, espresso maker, charcoal grill, and atypical cookware including a pressure cooker favored in many cuban dishes. You'll also find your kitchen basics fully stocked on arrival-- we do ask that you replenish what you use and we welcome suggestions on what you'd like to see added in the future. Outside, enjoy croquet in your yard, stroll through the picturesque neighborhood, or take a swim or a suntan in the in-ground pool. If exploring's your passion, the marina, coastal walk, and historic Southport are just down the street. If bar-life or food are your passions, stroll to six right on the water-- and don't be surprised to watch dolphins play while you eat (or drink!). Jump on your bikes or walk a little farther for the shopping or antiquing which brings day trippers down from Wilmington, Oak Island, or Bald Head. Terrific beaches are easily accessible by car and/or ferry, ranging from minutes on neighboring Oak Island to 30 minutes or so for Wilmington area destinations. Or, with an additional security deposit, fee, and proof of boating experience, use your 19' Grady White with a Yamaha 150, berthed within eyesight of your home, and the entire coast is your playground! Pack a picnic and Pelican Island can be your private beach, and is a 5-minute boat-ride away. Visit Bald Head Island and its miles of pristine beaches, including terrific body-surfing and surfing breaks. Boat the Intracoastal and stop for lunch, dinner, or drinks, wherever you fancy! If golf's your passion, St James Plantation is right around the corner by boat or car. Original art throughout including works by local artists and the Georgia-based, Sandra Sacco. Custom ceiling fans throughout.

About Patrick or Carrie
Carrie first glimpsed picturesque Southport while boating, enroute to attend a fairy-tale wedding on nearby Bald Head Island. It was a few years before she and I could make it a reality, but it's been every bit worth the wait! We take great pleasure in welcoming you, and we hope you'll enjoy making our family home part of your family, year after year. Welcome.
Patrick or Carrie purchased this House in 2013
Why Patrick or Carrie chose Southport
Our family fell in love with this home, literally from the moment we saw it! Our kids compared the Key West colors to Candyland, Carrie loved the antiquing, and we both loved the uniqueness of Southport! Despite living and vacationing in destination locales such as Nantucket Island, MA, Kiawah Island, SC, the Hamptons in New York, and all around Southern California, we have found ways Southport equals or exceeds them all--and we're still discovering new things every time we visit! Come explore, and let us know what you find!
What makes this House unique
If you fall in love with Crazy Birds as we did-- or have some experiences too memorable to forget-- leave a photo! Every year we plan to frame and mount a sample of these, and feature them throughout. So, all together, we'll make Crazy Birds part of our family history!

Loved the upside down re-design!
Had a great time walking to everything—and we all loved the views from the second floor! So many fine details too, from monogrammed towels and glasses to the name of the property on the carved quarter board—we’ll be back again!!!
Great home. Great town
We fully enjoyed our time at Crazy Birds and liked the re-model. It is a terrific spot to enjoy all that the cape Fear area has to offer.
My family and I had a great 3day stay in Southport. We were their to go to a wedding and had a blast
The House was in a great location to walk to the places we needed to go to. The house was first class all the way. Very nice and had everything we needed. Great view of the water and just what we wanted. We would like to stay in in this same house again sometime when we are in the area!
Beautiful house in a great location to enjoy all Southport has to offer.
Our family enjoyed the stay at Crazy Birds! This house lacks nothing! I had read the reviews about the tv room and lack of living space and we found the set-up perfect for us. The tv room became the playroom for our grandchildren and was able to accommodate the adults as well. What a unique set up! The marble throughout the house, really nice bathrooms and kitchen provided us with a luxury experience! Views of the waterfront and boats from the porch and kitchen were beautiful. Would highly recommend!
Awesome Place !!
beautiful home close to everything !
Crazy Cozy and Comfy!
We loved the kitchen area where a group of us (the moms) relaxed with plenty to eat and drink, while my husband and his friends took over the adjacent porch with its five-piece sectional and water views—and even better, the kids and their friends lounged all over the media room (with its glass doors allowing us to glance in as often as necessary but shut for quiet ;))! I’m telling you, this house is absolutely perfect for families!!! Everybody could find a room to be cozy and comfy—and the kitchen was big enough we could all still come back together for meals! I actually relaxed fully seeing everyone in my family find something to love—we’ve already booked our next stay at Crazy Birds :)
Welcome to your vacation home, situated along the shores of the Cape Fear River and the Intracoastal Waterway, at the river's mouth of the Atlantic Ocean. You've seen Southport in little screen productions including 'Revenge' and 'Dawson's Creek', and big screen features including 'I know What You Did Last Summer', 'Nights in Rodanthe', and 'Safe Heaven'. Come enjoy this picturesque town, founded in 1792, yet still retaining its 'fishing village charm.' Find quiet, restaurants even a foodie would enjoy such as quiet romantic gems like The Pharmacy-- or embrace the bustle and fresh local seafood of Mr. P's-- or grab drinks and dinner on the water, listening to live local bands at Fishy Fishy-- or dine in, feasting on seafood from Potters, Clems, or Haag & Sons, pulled from the waters you see from your vacation home... Enjoy major events such as The North Carolina Fourth of July Festival, the 29th Annual Spring Festival, the 7th Annual Bay Creek Classic Benefit Flounder Tournament, the 5th Annual Southport Wooden Boat Show, or the U.S. Open King Mackerel Tournament. Or come on a quiet night or weekend... No need for a car once you arrive, either. Our semi-private pool is a walk across the street. Four waterfront bars and restaurants are 5 minutes away by foot. Downtown shops and restaurants are less than 10 minutes away by foot. Or, ride one of our old-style bikes and whittle your travel time in half... If you choose to, contact us about the use of our 19' Grady White 180 Sportsman. Equiped with a Yamaha 150 HP, GPS and Sonar, and a Fusion sound system, you can sink your toes and beach comb in the pristine sands of Pellican Island in 5 minutes, explore exclusive Bald Head Island in 15 minutes, accept the challenge of off-shore fishing within 30 minutes, or meander the intracoastal stopping to dine in marinas or drop anchor where the mood takes you... On rainy days, relax at home with two flat screen TVs, Apple TV, a Blue Ray player, gaming on your Wii, dabble with a puzzle, or listen to the rain fall on your tin roof from your covered balcony or front porch. Or, explore downtown and sift through countless antique shops, artist show rooms, restaurants and bars. And if the mood strikes you, remember one of Southport's slogans 'we don't have a town drunk; we all just take turns'!
