Beautiful house in a convenient area

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this house. The place is spacious, very clean, and the kitchen has some of the best pans I've ever seen in a vrbo. There is a market just a few steps away from the house which is also very convenient and the beach is a ten minute walk away. Also, we accidentally left something in the house and the property managers were very responsive about how to get the item back to us.

Overall a ok place to stay. For the positives, it was very large and roomy and my kids enjoyed the extra space. There were more than enough bedrooms to sleep everyone well. Kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans etc. beds and sheets were very comfortable. The third floor deck was great and we had dinner up there our first night. Lots of shade options for the beach and had a wagon to pull everything in for walking to the beach. It was right behind a grocery store which was nice. The walk to the beach was 10 min but not that bad. That being said, the listing said there was a BBQ and ultimately this was the deciding factor as to why we chose this place. BUT there was no BBQ! They had a Coleman camping grill in the garage which was gross and rusted. So that was a huge disappointment. We couldn't use it for what we wanted. Also, this house has NO AC! It got very hot and humid requiring windows to be open constantly. The window coverings were annoying to use as a result because the slats kept falling out. Doors have no screens so we dealt with some neighborhood cats trying to come in too. For families the thirds floor deck floor is a disappointment. Needs to be a game room 100%. And it's next to an empty dirt lot, we even saw an opossum in the front area and scared it off. The front outdoor space is unusable and while we were there is was covered with ants so we couldn't go out. One boogie board was broken. We would probably pass on this place but overall ok stay.

Spacious and convenient

Walkable location to beach, market, restaurant, shops. House related issues need attention: blinds broken or ill functioning, bathtub faucet leaks, french door knob fell off. Kitchen needs more sponges or cloths to wipe counters. Aluminum foil, ziplock bags needed. Upgrade toilet paper.

Spacious house

I enjoyed the lay out of the house. Smelled clean. There was some dust and cobwebs. We were a bit disappointed that the jacuzzi didn’t work in the tub. Although it states 2 car garage, there is only room to park one car. The side door to access the house was muddy from the rain. It has some stones to step on but they are spaced out to far. Shorter people and kids don’t have a choice but to walk on the muddy ground. Also there were throw blankets available but they were dirty. Other than that we did enjoy our stay.

Good house with room for improvement

The house itself was great. It had great space, the rooms were good size, and so were the bathrooms. It had a great loft space on the 3rd floor with a nice outdoor area. The washer and dryer were definitely a great amenity and there should probably be a picture of them in the listing (was one of the questions we never got a response to). The garage was a great amenity since there are no great areas to park and there are a lot of homeless people around. One of the days they were even looking inside garages as we were leaving. The biggest problem we had was the internet. There is no cable tv so everything needed to be streamed so you’re fully dependent on the wifi. The house needs a new router and a mesh system is what would probably work best there. The internet would not work on the 3rd floor and on the main floor it was very spotty. The loft bed was missing a rail so for safety purposes it needs one. The dishwasher had its quirks but ultimately ended up working. We had 0 response to 2 questions we made in the Vrbo app, so customer service needs improvement as well. Other than the question referenced above it was unclear where to throw the trash outside. One bin said no trash and the other was the recycling bin so it was very confusing.

Angel, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We're pleased that you thought our home was great and that it was a good fit for your party. That said, we apologize for the issues you experienced that detracted from your stay and we shared your feedback with the local manager. They assured us that a new router has been installed and they are looking into installing a mesh unit to improve the Internet. We enjoyed having you as our guest and we hope to host you again.

Good and Bad

Positives: This house is HUGE and beautiful! The pictures online don't do it justice. The house was immaculate on the inside - very clean. Washer and dryer were amazing to have. Outdoor shower to wash off sand was great to have. Fans in every room were much appreciated. Well stocked kitchen, new non-stick pots and pans were nice! Negatives: We went in July - although the temps outside were nice (70s) the house was incredibly stuffy inside. We tried to open windows to let the air in, but due to the location of the house it was almost better to just suffer in the stuffiness. The house is location is not ideal. It is located on the main busy road that goes through downtown Oceanside. It is situated next door to a busy 24 hour gas station, a Motel 8 and Motel 6, a busy restaurant, a liquor store and an empty overgrown lot filled with trash. We witnessed a lot of questionable activities going on in the empty lot next door (people urinating in public, random cars would pull in at different hours, homeless, etc) We tried to leave the windows open to air out the house but the amount of noise from cars, fireworks, gunshots (?), people and restaurant noise was unbearable. We would wake up to loud noises every 5 seconds. It was awful. So we shut the windows and dealt with it which made sleeping impossible. The house is technically "walkable" to the beach, but not really. We drove to the beach and parked. I can't imagine walking. It's pretty far. Will not stay at this house again.

Thank you for taking the time to share your valuable feedback. We are happy to hear you enjoyed the location, though we apologize for the issues that prevented you from fully enjoying your stay. Our local operations manager confirmed that only a four-block walk to the beach, and not going to be suitable for everybody. Th windows upstairs are completely secure for opening to cool it down and there is no way to access from the upper area. Downstairs generally stays cool, but we are also in a heatwave, unfortunately. We will continue to work with both our local operations manager and the homeowner to make improvements to this home, and we hope you will give us a second chance to impress you.

Overall great experience. I understand that this cannot be controlled, but having a motion sensor light at night in the back would be helpful so you can see the homeless guy sleeping across from the garage on the sidewalk. No issues, just not a fan of that for safety reasons, especially with kids. House was amazing though, very large and the rooftop balcony was a plus. We would stay again as the location was really good to easily get to the harbor, downtown and the beach within minutes
