The Space:

Escape to the mountains of West Virginia in this one-bedroom cabin along serene Sleepy Creek. Blending modern comfort with rustic charm, the cabin offers a retreat that feels both designed and authentic. A spacious screened-in porch extends the living area and doubles as a seasonal sleeping porch. Bring a sleeping bag and fall asleep to the sounds of owls, the rippling creek, and the scent of woodsmoke from your evening’s campfire. Perfect for couples, families, or small groups. Plus, enjoy the convenience of a scenic 20-minute drive to downtown Berkeley Springs.

Inside, cozy meets thoughtful: vaulted ceilings, a Jotul wood stove, original artwork, and a fully equipped kitchen ready for morning pancakes or evening dinners. A fold-out dining table seats five. A deep soaking tub awaits after a day of hiking, and a washer/dryer makes longer stays easy. Upstairs, the primary bedroom features a queen bed, while cozy bunk beds are tucked just off the living area. Local trail maps throughout the cabin inspire nearby adventures.

Sleeping arrangements:

- Bedroom 1 (upper level): Queen Bed

- Additional sleeping accommodations: Living Room area (Twin over Twin Bunk Bed) and 4 cots on the screened porch

Additional details inside:

-Vaulted ceilings and a Jotul wood stove—perfect for chilly nights.

-Fully equipped kitchen: refrigerator, farmhouse sink, RO water filter, gas range, dishwasher, coffee maker, hot water kettle, microwave, toaster oven

-Fold-out dining table seats five.

-Full bathroom with deep soaking tub and designer shower.

-Washer & dryer for longer stays.

-Original artwork and local trail maps throughout.

-Screened-in porch features 4 cots—bring your own sleeping bag for a seasonal sleeping option.

-Window A/C units for comfortable temps and baseboard heat for chilly nights.

-Roku SmartTV in the living room and in the loft

-Wi-Fi for streaming your favorite shows (note download speeds are about 3 mbps – which should be fine to stream shows or do video calls, but it may be a little slow).

Outside, the fun continues:

-Six-person hot tub with forest views.

-Screened-in porch for relaxing.

-Cedar-lined outdoor shower.

-Fenced-in yard (so your kids or four-legged friends have space to run!)

-Lower deck with gas grill.

-Fire pit with hobo pie makers & marshmallow sticks.

-Three hammocks + dimmable string lights for ambiance.

Several small trails wind through the property, each offering its own special retreat. One path leads to a serene clearing surrounded by hemlock and tall pine trees, where a simple bench invites meditation or forest bathing, letting you fully immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, and scents of the forest. Another trail takes you to the community water access, perfect for swimming, floating in tubes, or fishing, with two kayaks available in the shed and a picnic table nearby. For avid hikers, the Tuscarora Trail is accessible right from the front door—a rare opportunity to connect to a vast trail system. A map in the entryway makes it easy to find the trailhead and explore the surrounding wilderness.

We’re dog-friendly and welcome up to two house-trained dogs during your stay. No cats, unfortunately (we’re allergic).

For your awareness, the property includes a studio located approximately 250 feet from the cabin. It’s clearly marked with a “Studio” sign, and you’ll pass it on the way to Spoon’s Rest. The studio is used occasionally by the owners, who may be on-site during part of your stay — though they are rarely present and the studio is not visible from the cabin, ensuring you’ll still enjoy privacy and seclusion. They may also have their small, friendly dogs with them when visiting.

We’d love for you to leave a note in the guest book provided—reading your thoughts and memories is one of our favorite parts of visiting!

I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.

Why they chose this property

We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and this cabin in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
