Overview

About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, 2 Sleeps

This fully-furnished carriage house is situated in the heart of Savannah's Historic District, on the elegant and sought-after Jones Street. Located within walking distance of a variety of shops and dining options, such as Public, SoHo South and Six Pence Pub. Lovely Forsyth Park is also within walking distance, as are several event venues.

If you don't feel like walking, or need to go just little further to River Street, you can easily flag down a Pedicab for a quick and pleasant ride to your destination.

This carriage house has been a favorite lodging location of Joe Odom, a Savannah celebrity who played Paul Hipp in the film "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil." This quaint location has a lush, private courtyard that is often visited and occupied by the the owner's two Basset Hounds, Bo and Carlie. They love company, but if you're in the mood for privacy, feel free to ask that they stay home.

This is truly one of the best locations in the city, and after staying here you will feel like a true Savannahian. Ask about parking opportunities, concierge services, and seasonal specials.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Very cool living space, perfect for one or two people. Beautiful outdoor courtyard to accompany the indoor space, and it's location is perfect for exploring historical Savannah - within walking distance to so much! Check in and check out were very smooth, and access to the house was easy.

Great Savannah Location

  • 2 of 5

This is a charming carriage house in the middle of historic Savannah. Walking distance to all of the beautiful Squares and also to River Front. Comfortable accommodations. Parking is a challenge as the home does not have designated parking spot. Also, the management people were not very responsive during the booking process.

Very Cosy!

  • 5 of 5

The carriage house is a really great location and perfect if you enjoy walking around Savannah, as everything you really need is within walking distance. It's very cozy inside and feels welcoming and lived-in. My only complaint is the carpet they have inside, it's rough and very hard on your feet if you walk around barefoot. Other than that my husband and I loved our stay, the courtyard is beautiful, and the friendly Basset Hounds that came to visit from the main house just made the stay that much more homely.

lovely little apartment but a few issues

  • 3 of 5

We stayed two nights at this apartment and really liked it. The apartment itself is cozy and convenient, right in the middle of the historic district. There were a number of issues which keep it from getting more stars from me: several housekeeping oversights, wifi issues, and a great deal of confusion getting the door code. The management has promised that these will be taken care of, so hopefully the next visitor will have no issues. Overall I would have happily moved into the apartment myself, it's that cute. Sadly we did not get to meet the dogs.

Fantastic property but wrong codes

  • 3 of 5

I arrived that night alone, and the dir key code I'd been given didn't work. I called all numbers given. Nothing. I waited. Called the emergency number again. Nothing. I called a third time after waiting longer and stayed on hold about six minutes. An operator got my information and someone called back, they gave me different codes to try and one worked. Interestingly there was an information sheet I the desk with a DIFFERENT wrong key code than the wrong one I was given. Savannah is not the place a single woman wants to stand outside alone in the cold for twenty five minutes trying to figure out what to do while locked out.

Primarily Awesome, Great Location, A Few Issues

  • 4 of 5

Everything is as represented in the photos, with the exception of "the loft" which is an accident waiting to happen. It is alluded to, but not shown clearly, by the photo of the ladder near the bed. My 19 year old, who is in excellent health, went partway up the precarious ladder and said she wouldn't feel safe trying to get in or out of that loft at that height or angle. It was also quite claustrophobic. The couch, which is not a sleeper sofa, was comfortable enough to be the second bed. The owners purchasing an actual sleeper sofa for that spot would be better.

The courtyard and porch are spectacular, the kitchen is nice, although some ice trays would be appreciated. The bathroom is pretty but has no towel racks, only one hook, and little storage space. I would suggest shelves under the sink and some more hooks. Jones St. is beautiful and easy to get everywhere, safe to walk home at night.

You get used to the wall-to wall jute floor, which is not comfortable. The windows have no screens and we could only get one to open a few inches.

Screens and working windows would be great. Cow hide rug is about as unpleasant underfoot as the jute. With cleaning fees and tax, the $113 was actually $163 a night for four nights.

That being said, for that price, you couldn't do better in this part of town for a place this nice as long as you don't need the loft. It was clean, has everything you need, and you don't spend much time in the room when you can be on that porch or in the courtyard. Big bed was fine. Everything worked.

Michelle was very helpful. Clarence and Leon, who worked on the property were always friendly. The gardens are amazing.

The Gallery Espresso and Sentient Bean are favorite coffee/tea shops. Tennis courts at Forsyth Park are great. Good meals at Pakwan Indian and Corleones.

Skip the breakfast lines at overpriced places and try Henry's. If you have a few extra days try St. Simon's Island for a more relaxed beach community.

Great location

  • 5 of 5

Just spent 4 nights in this gem. Right in the historic district for easier walking to river, sights and restaurants. Very quiet. Kitchen fully outfitted for meal prep, and even has a 2 drawer dishwasher. Has so much character and the courtyard is gorgeous. The bathroom is big, bright, with a lovely glass shower door. Plenty of comfortable seating. Michelle was always helpful. Loved having a keypad so we didn't have to worry about losing keys!!!
