Private Cottage, Close To Town, But Away From It All!

Enter the cottage on the main floor, into an octagonal living and dining area. There is a small, colorfully tiled attached kitchen, which is fully equipped, with an inside dinng table. There are sliding glass doors out onto a large covered deck, with an outside dining table, and additional seating including a swing chair, to enjoy the view. From the deck, step down to a large tiled patio with lounges for sunning. From the decks and patio you can see pelicans, seagulls, and frigate birds flying from one bay to the other.

There is an inside, spiral staircase going upstairs, from the living room to the octagonal master bedroom, which has a queen bed, skylight, a full bath, air conditioning, and sliding glass doors out onto a long deck.

The cottage is casually and comfortably furnished, and has cable, internet, a printer, DVDs, and many books.

From the main deck, step down to the tiled patio sun deck, and down again to the lower level. The lower level has a large tiled deck, the second bedroom, and a laundry with washer and dryer.

The second bedroom is very cozy, with a full bed, air conditioning, sliding glass doors out onto the deck, and an attached full bath. The second bedroom works well for an older child, or an extra single guest, but is little too small to be really comfortable for an additional couple.

The cottage is located on 3 acres at the end of a dead-end road. Follow the garden paths, and enjoy the gardens, with a variety of fruit trees with local fruits in season.

The cottage is a little over a mile to Cruz Bay where most of the restaurants, grocery stores and shops are located. Recently, the driveway was expanded, and the cottage now has a circular driveway, easy to navigate, and plenty of parking!

About owner/property manager

My husband and I were both professors when we purchased the original cottage. (We have made many improvements over the years.) We brought our two daughters here every summer until they grew up and moved away. In addition to swimming, snorkeling, and sailing, we planted many fruit trees that are now mature, including the mango that bears in the summer when we return every year. We still enjoy gardening.

Why owner/property manager chose Cruz Bay

My husband and I had two girls aged 5 and 9 when we looked into buying a house on St. John. We asked the realtor for “Something that was not cantilevered over a cliff, was on a dead-end road, and that you would be unlikely to find in New Jersey.” The realtor said, “Well. I have just the house for you.” And he did. After we bought it, we discovered the advantage of facing east for breezes and for shading the outside table after 9:00 AM.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage has a caribbean character, with colorful tile and furniture of rattan and wicker. It is an easy drive to and from town, nice when returning in the dark from dining at a restaurant. The driveway lets you off right at the front door. From the outside table you can watch boats going in and out of the bays.

Gorgeous View, Great Amenities, Perfect Location

This property was everything we wanted. Booking was very easy and the owners were available for questions and replied quickly. The views off both the first and second floor decks were amazing. Loved the unique shape of the house and all of the comforts of home. We grilled dinner two nights and had everything we needed. The location was about 10 minutes outside of town, making it easy to get where we wanted to go. We appreciated the chairs and cooler to make our days at the beach so enjoyable. We were really sad to leave this house and plan to return!

2 Bay View is the perfect cottage to enjoy your treasured time in St. John! We have been coming back to this wonderful home for the past several years - a testimony to how much we have come to love this special place. We love the constant breezes, the beautiful views, the privacy and the casual comfort that this home provides. At the end of a busy day, it is wonderful to look forward to coming home! It is conveniently located close to town where all the restaurants, shops and grocery stores are located. The many beaches are just a short drive away, as well as all the water sports and hiking trails. But...there are many days when we enjoy just kicking back and spending the day at home in this lovely environment!
