About John L Gile

John Gile purchased this property over ten years ago as it had been built by his ancestors in the early 1800s Since that time John has enjoyed sharing the home with his family and friends.

John L Gile purchased this chateau / country house in 2003

Why John L Gile chose Franklin

We purchased this home because it had been built by our great-great-great-great grand father in 1804. The Home stayed within our family until the early 1900's. We love this home as a place for family gatherings over holidays such as July 4th, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

We are very flexible with the size of your group. The size of this home makes it perfect for larger groups such as family reunions, holiday events, weddings, etc.

Perfect Property

  • 5 of 5

This is our families 2nd stay on Gile Rd. The property is large so we all have our space and has everything needed. This year we didn't leave the property at all during our 4 day stay. We will be back next year!

Historic gem in beautiful NH

  • 4 of 5

My friends and I rented this house for the Ragnar Reach the Beach Relay and it was more than spacious enough for our group of 11. It was a gorgeous time of year (mind-September) to visit this area. The owner and groundskeeper with both very communicative leading up to and during our stay. There were plenty of linens and towels for everyone. The house is definitely dated but I think that's part of it's historic charm. A little strange that the washer and dryer are not on the same floor but it was nice to have the option to do laundry while there. It would have been nice to have a map or illustration of the house layout as the upstairs was a bit of a maze to figure out upon arrival. We didn't discover the half bath on the first floor til it was almost time for us to depart, but it was definitely more fun to discover that one on our own. Hidden rooms are exciting. Big thank you to John and Aaron!

Great house, loved the charm

  • 5 of 5

Once i arrived at the house, Aaron (caretaker) greeted me with the keys, a tour of the place, some rules and even gave me a box of golf balls! This house has some serious charm, great cozy space, wonderful pool, and is in the middle of nothing (which was perfect). Everything was as advertised and did not disappoint. I would easily rent this place again!!!!

A fun and relaxing stay in Franklin New hampshire

  • 4 of 5

Our family reunion last week drawing family from Maryland, Massachusetts, Delaware, New Jersey, Uganda and Kenya -- was fantastic. The house was big with communal areas to accommodate teenagers, young adults and seniors. The spread out lawns allowed for aerobic workouts in the morning, soccer games on front lawn in afternoon followed by swimming in the pool to cool down. The enclosed eating area allowed for out big group to share meals together and bond. The property manager was responsive and easy to deal with. The house is old so need for some sprucing up (shower door fell out as did some window panes from door in outside eating area,).

But all in all we enjoyed the beautiful sunrises and sun sets and the peace of being out in the country. It is also near Webster lake which as a public beach.

Most beautiful grounds!

  • 5 of 5

We had our annual family reunion at the farm house this year. The amount of bedrooms, space and pool made it the perfect vacation. The house had everything we needed, and we didn't need to leave the grounds the entire long weekend! Glen the caretaker was very attentive and able to answer all our questions. We plan to make this house our annual reunion!
