Guestbook comments from the manager

We held a one-year memorial “angelversary” for my teenage son at this fantastic retreat. We had friends and family join us for several days leading up to a big barbeque on the 4th of July. It was the perfect location for us to get together and share laughs and memories, as well as a few tears.

When looking on-line, the pictures made it appear as if the house was secluded, so I was a bit surprised when my GPS led me through a residential neighborhood. I almost missed the driveway. The long driveway leads you to the house that sits a good distance from the road, which does in fact make it feel like you are secluded. The house is breath taking as soon as you pull up. The long driveway is excellent for parking and you can even park three cars in the oversized garage. We left the big open area of the driveway in front of the house empty. There, we set up a corn hole game, a yard ladder game and a washers game. The kids were also able to play basketball with the portable hoop provided. We also set up a horseshoe are in the dirt alongside the basketball area. We brought a lot of camp chairs that we sat around the driveway and spent much time there, playing games and chatting, while enjoying the forest around us.

The house was exceptionally clean and well stocked. We did bring extra casserole dishes, cookie sheets, crock pots and some large pots because we knew we were going to be cooking for a large group, and we are glad we did. There are plenty of dishes, glasses and silverware, although we preferred to use paper and plastic for easy clean up. We brought up our own spices (based on another review). I wish we would have brought measuring cups and spoons because we couldn’t find any of those and had to wing it. The professional grade coffee maker was a huge hit. The fridge seemed a little small for a house that sleeps so many people and we had to resort to using coolers with ice to store our extra food. An extra fridge in the garage would have been appreciated.

The sleeping accommodations were wonderful. I’ve never seen a house that could sleep so many people in actual beds and in comfortable beds at that. The pull-out beds mentioned are not sofa sleepers, but rather full sized trundle beds that slide out from under the bunk beds in the upstairs loft. With 3 full-sized bunk beds and the trundles, that loft can sleep 18 people alone! With all the other beds in the home, 36 people can sleep in beds. Amazing.

Great Location, loved hot tub and Living area

  • 5 of 5

- Beautiful house, few minutes from I-80.

- Nice Open kitchen and living area, great for large groups.

- Private backyard with hot tub and fire pit.

- Bathrooms - This is really not a cons, but i found one of the 3 bath room unusable for adults. Space is too tight, i am 5 ft, 8in long, avg body, i was having hard time standing straight. so technically if you're 10 or more adults, you end up spending lot of time getting ready in the morning. That's what happened to us.

- Both other bathrooms were huge and nice. Folks enjoyed the bath tub with jets who couldn't enjoy hot tub due to cold outside.

Great for our group!

  • 5 of 5

Loved staying at this house. We had a larger group, but there was plenty of space for everyone. Great space for hanging out and watching football. Large dining table for eating and boardgames. Big kitchen for meal prep and post dinner conversations. Quiet neighborhood with friendly neighbors. We had a great time!

Vladimir was also a very accommodating host! Two thumbs up!

Also of note, one of our guests was in a wheel chair and after setting up a ramp in the garage, the rest of the house was all one level which made the stay easy and enjoyable.

Excellent property for executive retreat

  • 5 of 5

I had the opportunity to rent the Oslo Retreat for a three day executive retreat. The property is in a fantastic location. The amenities were great - plenty of space to conduct our meetings. And, plenty of beds for everyone - the bunk beds were extremely sturdy and definitely ok for grown adults. Finally, the kitchen had everything we needed to cook breakfast, lunch, and dinners for 17 people.

Good property for large groups, check ahead about events

  • 4 of 5

The home is good for sleeping lots of people, though the comments about the bathroom setup are correct. Three bedrooms have their own baths, but the upstairs loft with 3 triple bunks has only the smallest of the three bathrooms to use without going through someone else's bedroom. If you slept 2/bed as advertised that would be 20 people using that one bathroom.

There was also a misunderstanding during our stay about being able to hold events. Check ahead, as apparently there is a maximum of 50 people allowed at any "event", permits are needed, and there is a $2500 charge for events. The property manager was as helpful as could be expected when a neighbor turned us in to the homeowner's association as we were setting up, but we had to do a swift change of venue last minute to a public park. We should have checked more carefully ahead instead of assuming anything apparently. Worked out in the end, but could have been quite disastrous if it had been something more then a large family dinner.

Owner's Response: The property has 3 master bedrooms, each with en-suite full bathroom. The loft, that has 3 full size bunk beds and does not have it's own bathroom. It can however use the bathroom entrance that is accessible out of the great room. Saying that one has to go through a bedroom to access a bathroom is not correct. This guest made reservations and indicated that they will have 12 adults occupying the home. It's a little bit ridiculous for anyone to assume that it somehow entitles them to host a 100+ guest event at the property. We do have events at this venue and other locations in the area, and have round banquet tables and chairs we provide. Events must be arranged ahead of time and number of guests is also limited to a reasonable amount that is appropriate for the size of the property where the event is held.
