What was supposed to be a relaxing family vacation quickly turned into a frightening and unsafe experience.Within about an hour of arriving with my wife and our four children, my oldest son found a large black duffel bag hidden in the corner of the living room, along with a box containing multiple drug pipes and related paraphernalia. These items were left in a common living area and were easily accessible.I immediately contacted the host to report what we discovered. His response was dismissive. He said the cleaners must have missed it and told us to “enjoy our stay.” He showed no concern for our children’s safety and made no effort to address the situation.Our family was genuinely terrified. We had no idea who the items belonged to or whether someone might return to retrieve them. No one slept that night. The following morning, we packed up, cleaned the house ourselves, and left.I requested a full refund due to the serious safety issue. The host refused and then lied to VRBO customer service, falsely claiming that he encouraged us to leave. which is not true at all. Instead, he attempted to persuade us to stay by having cookies delivered, which felt very strange given the circumstances.Despite everything, the host still charged us for one night plus the cleaning fee. (Mind blowing...)This host demonstrated a complete lack of ethics, accountability, and concern for guest safety. Families should avoid this property entirely.
