If you are considering a multi-day venture into Mesa Verde National Park, this is a perfect home base. As the drive into certain parts of the park takes up to an hour from the entrance, the location of Luna Mesa makes it ideal for park goers to go in and out with ease, and to return for multiple days to really appreciate the park. The hosts are very gracious, friendly and hospitable. Rhonda's experience with bed and breakfast-ing really shows. The hot tub under the stars was just one highlight of our stay here. The steep climb to the lofted bedroom shouldn't be a problem for most people, and the view from the bed up there is lovely. Decor is appealing, including excellent works by Rhonda herself. Big veranda off the main house is open to guests for watching birds at the feeders, overlooking the garden and landscape, sipping a beverage, etc. Be sure to ask about the construction of the buildings, really interesting! Thanks again to Rhonda and Dennis for a wonderful getaway at Luna Mesa!
To be described as a Cozy Gem absolutely delights us! We love that we were able to provide a special retreat easily within distance to all the amazing wonders of Mesa Verde National Park! Wish we could take credit for the wonderful starry nights but that we can't do. My art is another of my joys I'm happy to share in our decor, especially the ones of the ancient Puebloan ruins you explore in the Park. Helping create special memories is our hope and making new special friends is our reward! Looking forward to the next visit!!
Beautiful building and beautiful piece of property
Thoroughly enjoyed staying with Rhonda and Dennis. Very friendly and accomodating hosts!
Our unique modern straw bale adobe home and casita were designed to provide a special warm environment for relaxing and being peaceful. We love sharing our property which gives you forever views, starry nights in the Hot Tub and up close and personal experiences with Mesa Verde National Park. The Ancient Puebloans found this special place first and now it can be experienced with us at Luna Mesa. We hope to see you back someday! There is still so much to explore and enjoy!
Wonderful location! What a treasure!
This is exactly what we were looking for in a Mesa Verde vacation. The view was unreal and the hospitality even better. We had a stressful time getting here and they went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. We will definitely recommend this place and hopefully be back ourselves.
We were very happy to be able to help our guests - now new friends, whom had a vehicle mechanical problem on the way to our Luna Mesa. Being able to provide a relaxing peaceful stay and help with advice about touring Mesa Verde National Park is exactly why we offer our Luna Mesa as a VRBO.
Our joy is helping create special happy memories for others!
Looking forward to having you back some day!
Happy future travels!
Rhonda and Dennis
A Special Place.
Moon Dancer Casita is special. The beautiful online pictures depict it well. We have found that good photo ops can mislead, but this is not the case here. Ultimately, we were drawn to this property by the beauty of the place and its location. We were not disappointed on either count. There are views from all of the windows which provided cross breezes and cool mountain air, early and late. We awakened each morning in the romantic loft to a view of purplish blue mountains, the scent of sage and the occasional distant thunder. Luna Mesa is surrounded by acres of natural grasses, wildflowers and wildlife, along with neighboring Mesa Verde. We lingered each morning to watch the many hummingbirds in the flower garden or to traverse the long gravel drive with coffee in hand. The flower garden surrounds the hot tub, which has the benefit of being sanitized by diatomaceous earth rather than harmful chemicals, a welcome surprise and bit of luxury.
Luna Mesa’s location is ideal with national parks and monuments short drives away. Mesa Verde, Canyon of the Ancients, Hovenweep, and more. As well, the towns of Cortez, Mancos, and Dolores are alive with so much that places of beauty bring: art, breweries, wineries, crafts, good food, and friendly people devoted to the well being of their homes, communities. This was apparent everywhere. Our hosts, owners Rhonda and Dennis, were of this community spirit. They are mindful of the success of their guest casita and have not spared any details in their thoughtful care of linens and bedding, to some kitchen staples,, guest comfort, and a world of information on Colorado and the Four Corners area. They are very gracious hosts. I would, also, point out here that this was only the second time that my husband and I have ever rented a property where the owners were on site. However, our need for privacy was never at issue.
At the heart of our stay was not only the beautiful accomodations, but the connection to this home of the ancestral Pueblo people. We brought home our mind’s eye view of this place, of stunning landscapes and star studded dark night sky, scented air and cool nights. We heartily recommend this property.
Thank you, Rhonda and Dennis, for all of your efforts and for sharing.
Beautiful, Restful, Peaceful
Rhonda and Dennis are exceptional welcoming hosts. At the ready for all kinds of information on the area. Contacts for anything and everything you might want to do. Dennis personally showed my husband around Phil's World! Rhonda has thought of everything, all amenities plus fresh cookies, coffee, fresh fruit and cereal!
We enjoy sharing our Luna Mesa and getting to know great people like you! Your good time is our good time! Mountain biking in Phil's World is one of Dennis' favorite activities and when he can share the trails with a good time rider like you it makes it all the more fun! It was our special pleasure to be able to help make your experience a happy memorable one while visiting family and friends. Looking forward to your next visit and more fun memories to be made!
All the best!
Rhonda and Dennis
Rhonda and Dennis did everything they could and more to help make our stay a fabulous experience!
The casita was so clean and decorated beautifully. It was a lovely place to be. We enjoyed spending time with our hosts and enjoying their friendly hospitality. We followed their great advice on where to go and what to see. The only way our visit could have been better is if we could have stayed longer to see more sights and spend more time at Luna Mesa! We absolutely loved everything about our stay and our hosts and would recommend Luna Mesa with our highest praises. You won't be disappointed!
We are so happy when we can help our guests have a special memorable time at our Luna Mesa! Our lives are enhanced by the friendships created when folks like you visit us! We hope you'll be able to come again! Till the next time - many blessings! - Rhonda and Dennis
