About Pam Hester
We have both been in the real estate profession for over 30 years; Worth has been a residential contractor in High Point, Boone, and Black Mountain, North Carolina. I have been a Realtor in the Asheville/WNC area since 1995. We operate long term rental properties and decided we wanted to get into the short term, vacation rental business. We both moved back to the Asheville area in the early 1990's, where I grew up and Worth spent his summers as a child. We absolutely love Black Mountain! It brings back all of those wonderful memories of growing up! Kids riding bikes through this little town neighborhood, sitting on our front porch greeting passers by, walking our dogs in the evenings and visiting with our neighbors, going next door for dinner with friends, enjoying our neighborhood July 4th and Kentucky Derby parties! We invite you to come and enjoy our little town and bring back your own childhood memories - or - create some new memories at our sweet Hattie's Hideaway!

Why Pam Hester chose Black Mountain
Located in the historic neighborhood situated in the lovely small mountain town of Black Mountain! You can take a leisurely stroll to downtown shops and restaurants, or you can take a walk to Lake Tomahawk just a few minutes (4 1/2 blocks) away. Hike some great trails in Montreat, play some golf at the Black Mountain Golf Course, tennis & basketball courts at Lake Tomahawk, take a drive into Asheville or one of the many lovely towns situated around Asheville, or explore the Blue Ridge Parkway--- all of these are located from 2 minutes to 45 minutes away! During the winter months, skiing, tubing, and snow boarding only about 45 minutes away in Madison County. During the summer months, go boating, fishing, swimming in lakes located just 30 to 45 minutes away in neighboring counties of Henderson and McDowell. Western North Carolina provides opportunities to do just about anything you are interested in!!
What makes this Cottage unique
If you want to just get away from it all, you can spend some quality time reading a book sitting by the pond, napping in the hammock, preparing a fun, gourmet meal with someone you love, or watching some television curled up on the sofa in front of the gas wood stove! There are lovely views from the porch off the bedroom --- the backyard is private and unbelievably quiet for an in-town lot. We believe that Hattie's and Black Mountain offer anything that you might want to do or can serve as your home to base out of to further explore Asheville and Western North Carolina.

Simply Amazing... Everything you need is here for you with first class accommodations!
The cottage is super clean and fresh. Furnishings appear to be new with many extras. Pam and Worth are the personification of the perfect HomeAway/VRBO property owner. The outdoor space is incredible, in fact we didn't want to leave for dinner so we enjoyed delicious takeout dining on the bedroom deck overlooking the beautifully landscaped yard with spectacular water feature. Later that evening we enjoyed sitting by the outdoor fireplace with the perfect blazing fire. Sadly, it's time to head home, and we still do not want to leave this wonderful space.
Perfect Cottage in quaint Black Mountain
Hattie’s Hideaway provides a great spot for a mountain getaway. The size, location, decor and landscaping all added up to the most relaxing retreat. We loved the outdoor space and even had a fire outside during a cool day. The inside was spotless, warm and cozy. I would definitely recommend and I hope to be back again soon.
Wonderful and Relaxing!
Beautiful bungalow and grounds. Love the attention to detail from coffee and milk to umbrellas, water bottles and walking sticks. Relaxing outdoor fireplace and koi pond. Short walk to downtown. Great place to getaway for the weekend!
Precious cottage in Black Mountain
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hattie’s Hideaway! It is a lovely bungalow located just a short walk to all the attractions in downtown Black Mountain. Located behind the owners main house, it is still very private. We enjoyed spending some of our honeymoon here, relaxing, enjoying the beautiful pond, outdoor fireplace, and private porch off the bedroom. The cottage was beautifully decorated, comfortable, clean, and well-stocked. We especially appreciated the keurig coffeemaker and huge selection of coffees! The queen sized bed is so comfortable! We felt so at home here. Will definitely be back!
To be honest, I didn't want to write a review of our stay because I don't want others to know about this little gem . But alas, I shouldn't be selfish. We rented this property for a getaway over New Year's. From the get-go, Pam was very responsive and helpfully provided recommendations New Year's Eve. The cottage is charming - perfect for two - and the backyard would have been inviting if the weather had been warmer. The cottage is a short walk to downtown Black Mountain with ample shopping and restaurants and close to several trails for hiking. It's definitely a location I'll return to, so shhh ... enjoy but don't tell too many people!
