About Pam Hester

We have both been in the real estate profession for over 30 years; Worth has been a residential contractor in High Point, Boone, and Black Mountain, North Carolina. I have been a Realtor in the Asheville/WNC area since 1995. We operate long term rental properties and decided we wanted to get into the short term, vacation rental business. We both moved back to the Asheville area in the early 1990's, where I grew up and Worth spent his summers as a child, and we met each other through Worth's cousin, who went to Meredith College with me! We absolutely love Black Mountain! It brings back all of those wonderful memories of growing up! Kids riding bikes through this little town neighborhood, sitting on our front porch greeting passers by, walking our dogs in the evenings and visiting with our neighbors, going next door for dinner with friends, enjoying our neighborhood July 4th and Kentucky Derby parties! We invite you to come and enjoy our little town and bring back your own childhood memories - or - create some new memories at our sweet Hattie's Hideaway!

Why Pam Hester chose Blue Ridge Mountains

Located in the historic neighborhood situated in the lovely small mountain town of Black Mountain! You can take a leisurely stroll to downtown shops and restaurants, or you can take a walk to Lake Tomahawk just a few minutes (4 1/2 blocks) away. Hike some great trails in Montreat, play some golf at the Black Mountain Golf Course, tennis & basketball courts at Lake Tomahawk, take a drive into Asheville or one of the many lovely towns situated around Asheville, or explore the Blue Ridge Parkway--- all of these are located from 2 minutes to 45 minutes away! During the winter months, skiing, tubing, and snow boarding only about 45 minutes away in Madison County. During the summer months, go boating, fishing, swimming in lakes located just 30 to 45 minutes away in neighboring counties of Henderson and McDowell. Western North Carolina provides opportunities to do just about anything you are interested in!!

What makes this cottage unique

If you want to just get away from it all, you can spend some quality time reading a book sitting by the pond, napping in the hammock, preparing a fun, gourmet meal with someone you love, or watching some television curled up on the sofa in front of the gas wood stove! there are lovely views from the porch off the bedroom --- the backyard is private and unbelievably quiet for an in-town lot. We believe that Hattie's and Black Mountain offer anything that you might want to do or can serve as your home to base out of to further explore Asheville and Western North Carolina.

Fantastic Experience!

  • 5 of 5

Pam and Worth have a hidden gem! When searching for a place for my husband and I to spend New Year's weekend I read many reviews on properties. They had excellent reviews from past guests so I booked the property. I'm a nurse with OCD so cleanliness is a high priority. This place was immaculate and well stocked with all necessities and extras. I needed a bandaid for a blister and the cottage even had a first aid kit with bandaids! She has thought of everything. Wish our stay had been longer so we could take advantage of the fire pit outside. It is close enough to downtown to walk and in a quiet residential neighborhood. I will definitely recommend it to friends.

Quiet and cozy

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at Hattie's Hideaway for a long weekend getaway to celebrate our anniversary. The quaint little cottage was fabulous and clean with no detail left out. There is a K-cup machine, fluffy robes, umbrellas, camping chairs, backpack, picnic basket, chargers and toiletries in case you forgot yours. The cottage is tucked away in the owner's backyard, but you have your own separate driveway and you have the nicely landscaped backyard, complete with a fireplace, coy pond, chairs and table to yourself. The owners stay out of sight, but there are there in minutes if you need them. We have stayed at many VRBO rentals in the last 8 years, and hands down, Hattie's Hideaway had the most comfortable bed of them all! The cottage location was perfect, within easy walking distance to downtown's many shops and restaurants. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to get away for some peace and quiet.

Perfectly Peaceful Experience

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were looking forward to a quite retreat and found it at Hattie's Hideaway. The accommodations were so comfortable; our hosts did a wonderful job of anticipating our needs. All the "little touches" throughout the kitchen, living room, bedroom and bath, down to the walking sticks in the corner for hiking and the folding umbrellas, "just in case" (we had beautiful weather during our stay, btw), really made this getaway stand out from the rest.

Awesome Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Hattie’s Hideaway is an idyllic getaway. Whether you are looking for a quick weekend or a longer vacation, comfortable including a spacious living area, well provisioned kitchen, and a large bedroom suite. The bathroom has plenty plush towels; in short, the owner has thought of everything. Set in a private area guests have use of an outdoor fireplace and fish pond. Located in the town of Black Mountain within easy walking distance to restaurants, shops and arts studios. Twenty minutes away from Ashville and close to hiking trails. We will definitely return!

Very clean, neat and beautiful. Good location and peaceful. Charming. We loved it!

  • 5 of 5

This is one of the better properties I've stayed in. Very clean and comfortable, and an easy drive to Asheville. I usually say something negative to give my good review more credibility, but I have drawn a blank. Except maybe the driveway is easy to miss when you're coming home late from the brewery (even though it's clearly marked).
