Nestled down a private road in the heart of southern Vermont, Brookside Cottage in Readsboro offers easy access to four-season adventure, charming towns, and authentic small-town charm.

Outdoor enthusiasts can explore the Green Mountain National Forest just 20–30 minutes away, with miles of hiking, biking, and wildlife viewing, or spend a summer day swimming, kayaking, fishing, or boating at Harriman Reservoir and Wilmington Beach, only 15 - 20 minutes away.
Whitewater rafting and tubing on the Deerfield River can be facilitated by several guide companies located on the nearby Mohawk trail in MA.

Scenic hikes include Haystack Mountain and Molly Stark State Park (both about 25 minutes), offering classic Green Mountain views.
In winter guests are within easy reach of popular ski destinations including Mount Snow (~30 minutes) and Berkshire East (~35 minutes), known for excellent skiing, snowboarding, and year-round activities.

ATV riders can enjoy nearby access to riding trail networks with fuel and dining in the town center.
Snowmobilers will appreciate direct access to Vermont’s renowned VAST trail system, with miles of groomed trails connecting Readsboro to nearby towns and backcountry scenery.

For dining and culture, head to Wilmington VT, or North Adams, MA(20-25 minutes) for local shops, galleries, seasonal events, and restaurants. Readsboro is a convenient starting point for exploring southern Vermont and nearby western Massachusetts.

This was a great little getaway for the two of us and our Australian Shepherd. We were all very comfortable and enjoyed walking on the roads near the property in the morning and evening. We used the cottage as a base for exploring Bennington, Walpole and Rutland. The kitchen and bathroom were well maintained and had everything we needed.

Great family get away! So peaceful and beautiful! The cottage had everything we needed! And the Brook was so nice to have in the backyard! Our kids loved playing it and playing outdoor games! Perfect place for this outdoor loving family! The host is very responsive when i had questions. Thank you Michael!

This cabin was the perfect spot for our family! We were looking to get away from crowds over the holiday weekend, and this place delivered! Beautiful location on a brook, close to hiking, and just a great stay. Pet friendly - love that the deck was fully enclosed so our dog could join us out there without being tied up! Michael even delivered fans for the bedrooms due to the heat wave, which were GREATLY appreciated! Very responsive host.

It was an excellent place to stay. Super comfy and quiet, falling asleep to the sound of the creek. Well equipped with everything you need. Good fast wifi. Excellent value for the money. Great place if you want to really get away from it all.

Could not get to the cabin. The road was not good for my husband's Harley. I did ask about the road, was told it was fine. I was able to get up there with my 3 wheeler. I can't say about how the cabin looked become I didn't go in. I was not even able to get my refund. Not happy.

Understand that this is not a fair assessment of our household accommodations. We make every effort to assist our guests when they have a problem with their stay, but we cannot assist if the guest does not ask for help or seek a solution to their problem. I had notified the guest that the drive up to the cottage was hard-pack and required experience riding motorcycles to traverse. I received no objection to the road condition. It should be noted that the town maintains the road up to the entrance of the property and we disclaim that it is less passable in winter and spring specifically, but not in dry summer conditions. We are not responsible for for guests' personal ability to travel on the public roadway. Regarding a refund- the cancelation was made after the date, where it is published, that a guest is not entitled to any portion of a refund. We sincerely regret this circumstance and will do everything we can to avoid this issue with future reservations.

This place is simply fantastic. If you are looking for quiet...and I mean ABSOLUTE quiet...this is your place! Nestled just five minutes south of Readsboro, VT, Brookside Cottage is the place to get disconnected and just breathe a bit. Our family needed this place...I needed to be here...with our kids growing up so fast, now at 14 and 11, my wife and I just wanted to have a few days to be together, play some games, watch some movies, and enjoy each other's company. I'm convinced we found the place that we will return to for years to come, and regardless of the season, we'll find happy memories together here as we made this week. Michael was a fantastic host from booking to even thanking us for being there! You won't go wrong with this gem, hidden in the beautiful and breathtaking silence of southern Vermont.

My husband and I LOVED this cabin! It was the perfect size and had everything we needed for a quiet get away to unplug and hear ourselves think. The property was so serene and quiet and just beautiful. We can’t wait to come back to this hidden treasure.

What a fantastic stay! Great for families or for a romantic weekend. It was so clean and comfy and they supplied everything you could possibly need. Views were beautiful and we had a fantastic time
