About Charles & Jenny Turner

We live in Portland and both sell residential real estate for a living. We self manage two rental properties and this vacation home. We met at Lewis & Clark College in Portland and have a nine year old son. We have a dog and your well behaved canine is welcome as well.

Charles & Jenny Turner purchased this townhome in 2013

Why Charles & Jenny Turner chose Mt. Hood, The Gorge

We had some specific criteria when looking for our vacation home: it was close enough to Portland that it wouldn't be an event getting there, it was close enough to shops and restaurants that we wouldn't need a car when we arrived, and that it had good access everything the Columbia River Gorge has to offer. This does all of that and more.

This property is brand new to us. We are confident you'll love it as much as we do.

What makes this townhome unique

There's not a lot of property in the Hood River core in general and even less with this level of quality. We love the clean lines and finishes. You can't get the quality of view anywhere else this close to shops and restaurants.

The massive garage is unique to the complex allows unpacking (and drying out) all that recreational gear.

Seriously cool pad in Hoody

  • 5 of 5

Great place to stay when in Hood River. Super spacious town home with a heck of a view of the river. Great layout and all the amenities provided (except pepper - no big deal). I have altready recommended this place to family and friends who are traveling to Portland but what to spend a couple days outside the city.

Amazing

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed this wonderful townhouse! Lots of space, beautiful view, easy walk to waterfront and restaurants. Kitchen well stocked with all the extras! The stairs are a challenge but worth every step! Happy that my brother's dog could stop by! Thanks and hope for a return trip.

Nice place but not the best experience

  • 3 of 5

We spent 8 nights in this town home over Easter visiting from Australia. The condo is nice, close to town, beautiful views. However, it was not the best experience overall. First, soon after making the initial reservation, I realised I had my days wrong and asked to amend the reservation to begin a day earlier. The owner said "No problem" and he would fix up the reservation. When it came time to make the final payment a few months later, I noticed the original dates were still listed. When I inquired, the owner said that he was on his phone, not computer, when he said he would change the reservation. Huh? He hadn't changed the dates and had booked the night to someone else. There was no apology or graciousness, just the statement that I was "correct" that we could not arrive on the day we had previously agreed. This was an expensive mistake for us as we had to book hotel rooms in Portland due to this mistake. Hey - mistakes get made and we would have been happy with a simple "I'm sorry," but that didn't happen and was disappointing. The day before we arrived, I still had not received info about how to get into the unit. When I emailed the owner, I was again greeted with a curt response - that I should have received an email from VRBO with that info. (I didn't and we rented from Homestay.com.au?). He eventually followed with another curt message containing a garage code, but again we did not feel very welcome. When we arrived, the house was moderately clean. We love dogs and have our own, but didn't enjoy sweeping up the dog hairs from the previous guests or the pet smell. The house was very not well appointed in some areas. No extra toilet paper other than what was on the rolls, no bottle opener, wine opener that didn't work. These things are all kind of important on holiday!

Beautiful, clean, fantastic location and view

  • 5 of 5

The townhome was in a perfect location to explore the quaint downtown of Hood River, as well as the surrounding area. It was walking distance to just about everything. We loved being able to walk out into the town and grab coffee, food, and do some shopping. The townhome itself was immaculate and very comfortable for all of us. I was even impressed that they had a baby gate there to put up at the top of the stairs to keep our little ones safe at night. We appreciate all the things the owners have done to make your home a great HomeAway as well!

The location is perfect. While our dogs and family handle the stairs, note that there are 3 flights!

This is our second time at this town home #3. We can walk everywhere in downtown Hood River, even across to the waterfront. There's a dog friendly park between the church and Police Courthouse just across the street, and plenty of great food and coffee everywhere. Celilo is amazing for a lavish dinner. Doppio and Dog River Coffee are both great, although Doppio has better breakfast and lunch items. Brian's Pourhouse is also fabulous. Expect lots and lots of walking if you like general activity! The view is beautiful from the townhouse and has all the luxuries of home. Lots of games, even electronic ones. We'll definitely be back again. Plus Maryhill and Marquese wineries are just a short drive away! Great wines.
