About the Location & Water
This cottage is not directly on the lakefront, but it’s just a short, easy stroll (literally a stone’s throw) from a quiet public lake access point. You’ll still enjoy lovely lake views right from the property – especially those breathtaking Indian Lake sunsets.
Our water comes from a private well – the well water can have a tint and occasional odor that varies with weather and water levels. It is regularly tested, filtered, and softened. For peace of mind, we keep a stocked water cooler on site for drinking and cooking for anyone who prefers it or isn’t accustomed to well water.

Important Note on Cooling
The cottage does not have air conditioning. We rely on ceiling fans, great cross-breezes through the windows, and the naturally cooler Upper Peninsula evenings (summers here are pleasantly mild, with highs typically in the 70s°F).

Whether you’re here to hike nearby trails, visit iconic spots like Kitch-iti-kipi (The Big Spring), relax on Lake Michigan beaches, fish, boat, or simply soak in the tranquility, this cottage provides a fantastic, homey retreat.

Exactly as described and perfect for our 3 night getaway as a family of 3. The location was nice as it was a good home base for activities ranging from in town Manistique, to Seney National Wildlife Refuge in Germfask, and even Pictured Rocks up in Munising. We loved our time here.

Such a gem near the water! We had everything we needed in this super clean and cozy place. Enjoyed walking the neighborhood after dinner and admiring the sunset.

As a first time VRBO user, I’m incredibly thankful this was our first experience. The description of the space was true to what we received, and it was great being so close to the lake. Having space to spread out for roughly the same price as a hotel room made the trip more enjoyable for the whole family.

The property was very clean and description of property was spot on. Overall the cabin is pretty small. Six adults on there would be pretty tight but if you don’t have to spend too much time there it would be fine. Also if you are over 6ft you will need to duck through some of the doorways.

This was the perfect location on Indian Lake for what I needed. The place was very neat and clean. My only exceptions with the place was the water situation. They had a water dispenser for drinking but the whole house water for showers, etc, was brown and smelled bad. They also didn’t have AC (which is typical I guess) but provided fans for use. The host was very responsive and gave great ideas for places to eat and things to do in the area.

This is the cleanest place I’ve ever stayed with the most kind and communicative hosts! Ari answered all my questions ahead of time and helped give me ideas of things to do nearby. We came to go to Kitchitikipi which is a short drive away on the other side of Indian Lake. The lake itself is great and the cottage’s access is a 1 minute walk away. We took our camp chairs down there and watched the kids swim. The cool thing is that the water is shallow for about 150 yards out, so even my 8 year old got to go way out in the lake. This would be a great spot to launch kayaks if you have them. As for the cottage amenities, the kitchen is well appointed with everything you could need (including ziplocks!), there are card games, books, and DVDs for the large projection screen. There are also ample fans for getting air movement to cool the cottage down. UP nights are cool, so no AC needed. The neighborhood is nice and very quiet as well.We would gladly stay here again if in the area!

The place was great! The view is breathtaking. Everything was clean and the host was very responsive. We have family in Manistique and come up several times a year. This will stay on the rotation for sure!
