About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, Sleeps 6

This rustic and secluded Pacific northwest retreat is set on the edge of 300 miles of woods and right off the famous Pacific Crest Trail, offering a comfortable and relaxing getaway for your next Cascade vacation. Dogs are allowed, too!

Explore the Cascade Locks wilderness, see the Bridge of the Gods, or hike the Pacific Crest Trail. You can picnic at the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area after a day windsurfing. Launch your boat, or take a stroll in town. If you're an avid cyclists, visit the Cascade-to-Crown Bicycle Ride. Outdoor lovers and city slickers alike will find serenity here.

At the single level, two bedroom cabin, Big Ed the wooden bear will welcome you. Feel free to indulge in the 32" flatscreen TV with DVD. Grab a book to read quietly or converse with your travel partners over what exciting adventures you have planned.

Head into the compact, yet well-stocked, kitchen where you'll find all the everything you need to fix a family meal, just supply your favorite foods. The wooden dining table is set for four, yet offers additional chairs to seat eight.

In the back bedroom you'll find a king bed, and in the front room are two twins. Kids may like slumbering in the living room with the queen-sized sofa bed. In the colder winter months, keep cozy with the electric heater or electric blanket provided, although the central heating should keep you plenty warm. The full bathroom includes grab bars for those who need a little mobile assistance. Altogether, the home can sleep six comfortably.

An energy-efficient washer and dryer will help keep up with the laundry, and the utility room in the back of the house could act as a great boot storage space as well. This home is also dog friendly, and you're welcome to bring your canine friends with you for an additional pet fee.

Cascade Locks is the lowest point on the Pacific Crest Trails, and each August the city hosts a fundraiser for the trail on Thunder Island in the Columbia. If you're around in November, kick-start your holiday spirit with the annual "Lighting of the Bridge," when the structure is decked out in its holiday garb. In December, the city finishes its Christmas decorating with its "Festival of Light."

Don't wait another moment away from the beauty of the Cascade Locks. Make this cabin your next escape!

The location was very nice. The supermarket was really close by and it was pretty close to many nice hiking trails and major attractions. The house was cozy and had all the necessaries. However, every night we heard mice scurrying around in the walls, and we found mouse drops everywhere. The smell in the house was also rather unpleasant. With some thorough cleanings, this house would be in much better shape than it was.

Owner's Response: All exterior holes have been covered to prevent mice from entering, and mouse bait has been placed at the home. We apologize if they were a nuisance during this visit.

Cute basic home

  • 5 of 5

We weren't looking for fancy, just a place to sleep at night in between fishing and exploring. This place was perfect for our fishing trip. Enjoyed using the fire pit in the back yard for s'mores. Location was perfect - entrance to the PCT right around the corner, and walkable to town. Perfect place for the perfect price.

Collapsed Floor & Mould

  • 1 of 5

We arrived at the Pacific Crest Trail House in Cascade Locks, Oregon on the 30th September 2016 and our first impression was of a musty smell in the property; we opened all of the windows to remove this smell but it still lingered on.

As I went to open the back door I put my foot through the flooring and discovered that the smell appeared to be related to a long term water damage issue that had rotted the floor between the rear door and master bedroom threshold.

On further investigation I noticed black mould around the rear wall due to the previous water damage and I immediately called the Vacasa local manager’s cell and emailed their email account as this was the first point of contact provided by Vacasa.

However they were not available and apparently had not been available since the 8th September 2016 so I called the Vacasa customer service phone line who could not resolve the problem that evening.

We stayed the one night and were moved to another property in Cascade Locks.

The floor issue appears to have been going on for a long time as the flooring had rotted away and it needs urgent repair before a major accident occurs.

I have forwarded the relevant photographs to Vacasa to deal with this issue.

Perhaps Vacasa can put some of the US$35 million funding raised in April 2016 towards resolving some of these customer communication and property issues?
