wonderful location, quiet and comfortable apartment

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect apartment for our stay in Paris, and we certainly intend to return. The apartment is in a quiet, stately building in the Latin Quarter only a block from the Seine near Notre Dame Cathedral. My wife and I are in our 60s and we easily walked to many attractions and the nearest Metro stop (Maubert Mutualite). The neighborhood is nice, seems completely safe day and night, and has places nearby to purchase groceries, pastries, and so on. Around the corner is an ATM and Le Petit Pontoise, where we enjoyed three satisfying, fun dinners.

The apartment building has a small, relatively new lift to take you to the third floor apartment. The dishwasher, refrigerator, clothes washer and dryer are all fairly new and easy to operate. The property manager, Denise, or the owner, Alex, shows you how to work everything, and the appliance manuals are organized in a binder. The manuals are mostly in French, but you can view them in your language by using the Google Translate phone app. The kitchen is small but large enough for a couple. The living and dining area is spacious, comfortable and full of natural light. The bathroom has a large bathtub, which is not easy to find in a Paris apartment. It has a hand-held shower head for showering.

This is a great apartment to sleep in. The bedroom is in the back and overlooks a quiet courtyard. Even when there are conversations on the street on the front side of the apartment, you won’t hear them in the bedroom. An electronic blind on the bedroom window keeps the room dark. The King-size bed is extremely comfortable. All this makes for a restful sleep – very important during travel and after a long day of walking.

The owner, Alex, is a charming man of good humor who could not be more welcoming or more dependable in his dealings with us. He also speaks excellent English, having studied and worked in the US as a young man. For the rental deposit, you transfer euros to Alex’s bank, not use a credit card, but we found the TransferWise online service very easy to use for the transfer and currency exchange, and much less expensive than using our bank’s wire service. We arrived to a friendly welcome that included fresh fruit, baguette, and a bottle of Bordeaux, and a stock of juice, eggs, croissants, and coffee for when we awoke on our first morning in Paris. By the time we left, we knew that my wife’s first trip to Paris was all that we hoped it would be, and that we’ll be going back.

Comfort, Convenience and Cordiality

  • 5 of 5

After a river cruise in Bordeaux we enjoyed our week in this ultra equipped apt. The location is excellent for walking to major attractions or taking bus or metro for the further locations. Denise was extremely cooperative, including checking us out in the very early morning hours. She also had wine, fresh bread, eggs, milk & HOMEMADE jam waiting for us. The elevator is necessary for luggage as it is 4 floors up. Every convenience is included in the apt from washer & dryer, everything a cook might use to hairdryer and even a computer and printer. There is a complete library of travel guides to help organize your time. The shower is the only major set back as it is only a hand-held head and no curtain so you must like sitting in the tub to shower. While I would not call it elegant, it was spacious, the bed is fabulous and there is lots of storage. An extremely enjoyable experience dealing with the owner & Denise.

Great vacation

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for ten days in June. The location could not have been better--off the beaten track, yet in the middle of everything. A short walk to the river, Notre Dame, metro stop, cafes, boulangeries, neighborhood boutique restaurants, grocery stores, and many attractions such as the Pantheon, Cluny, the Marais, and Botanical Gardens. The apartment itself was spacious, airy, quiet, bright and well-equipped with a full-sized refrigerator, washer, dryer, and plenty of storage space. No need to live out of a suit case here. As had been stated in other reviews, the manager was ready for us at the apartment and started us out with a fresh baguette, croissants, brioche, butter, orange juice, fruit and homemade jam. Overall, good value for all of the amenities it provided. A great vacation!

Lived in this lovely apartment for a month. Have only good things to say about the location, the apartment and the owner! It is large, beautifully decorated and had all the amenities I needed to feel 'at home' while in Paris. The building has a secure entry and an elevator. The apartment has two street view balconies off the living room. The bedroom is on the opposite side of the apartment with a peaceful and quiet courtyard view. It has WiFi internet, satellite cable, a DVD player, an iPod dock, a dishwasher, a large oven, a washing machine & dryer, a bathtub, large closets... I highly recommend.

Fabulous Left Bank Apartment

  • 5 of 5

What a great flat a half block from the Seine in one direction and a half block to the Boulevard St. Germain in the other! On a one block long side street near Notre Dame, this apartment is quiet but with excellent access to restaurants, markets, the Metro, Velib, and all of the attractions of the 5th Arrondissement. In an old building, the apartment itself is fresh and clean with hardwood floors. The bedroom is small but adequate for a couple. The living room/dining room offers significant space is is well appointed with a dining table for 4 as well as a lovely couch and a couple of chairs and a flat screen TV in the living room sectiond. The kitchen is small but has all of the features that one needs including a large size (American style) refrigerator/freezer as well as a cooktop, microwave, coffee maker, etc. The bedroom looks out on a lovely courtyard (and is therefore quiet). The bathroom is good-sized with many hooks and good quality towels -- although Americans should be prepared for a European-style hand-held shower (really not a problem to use).

The apartment has fabulous amenities within 3 blocks -- Maubert/Mutualite Metro, great little market 3 times per week by the Metro, excellent boulangeries (including the superstar baker Eric Kayser on Rue Monge), top notch cheese shop (Laurent Dubois), and good coffee roaster (Brulerie Maubert).

The owner was accessible and accommodating as was his Paris representative. Easy to get questions answered and all needs taken care of.

I recommend this apartment for those looking for a great base of operations for a week in Paris. You can walk, hop the Metro, or use the Velib rental bikes (with two stations within a block) to get anywhere in the city with ease.

Comfortable, Elegant, Central to the heart of Paris

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed the many amenities of this well-appointed apartment. We were greeted by the gracious manager and supplied with the necessities for a french breakfast including a fresh loaf of french bread, butter, fruit, coffee and tea. We were in walking distance of many good restaurants, patisseries, grocery shops and historic places. We would highly recommend this apartment to our friends and family. We hope to return in the future.
