Le Boué is a charming, rural, 19th Century farmhouse with a heated (solar) outdoor swimming pool (12m x 5m, fenced for security), situated near Argenton-sur-Creuse in Central France, Loire Valley. Accommodation for 8 people.

It has many original features; oak beams, stone walls and large fireplace.

Full central heating for winter lets. It has its own natural Reed bed teaming with wildlife and a sun deck overlooking the valley. It is situated in an idyllic rural setting of 3 acres of unspoilt countryside. It is totally secluded and safe, away from any passing traffic. Argenton town is 10 minutes by car. Enjoy the serenity and beauty of the area and participate in the many leisure activities available for families and couples alike or just relax by the pool and watch the sunset over the lake. Activities available are; bird watching, horse riding, golf, canoeing and cycling. There are private lakes close by for carp fishing and the Brenne National Park with its 1,000 lakes is a must for any fisherman!

Further expeditions to be made: Situated on the edge of three counties you can profit from a diverse range of activities. Poitiers is about an hour away famous for the fantastic cinematography centre of Futuroscope and Limoges an hour further South with its beautiful cathedral and of course plenty of opportunities to purchase gifts of the outstanding Limoges porcelain. It is also an area of great historic interest. The important château at Châteauguillaume is a fifteen minute drive and further afield the Château of Sarzay which is the process of being restored to its full glory. In a wonderful setting with four towers it is well worth a visit. Or visit the valley of frescoes between St. Savin and Saulge.

The Brenne Natural Park and Lac de Chambon, Eguzon: The Brenne Natural Park with its thousand lakes is a vast conservation area dotted with lakes and criss-crossed with bridle-paths. There are organised hikes or you can simply set out on your own with a map. At the Maison de la Brenne, there is an interpretive centre where visitors can learn about the region, its ancient traditions of fish farming and nature conservation, also there is an excellent restaurant there which is very reasonable. A day out to visit the vast lake at Eguzon is a must. The lake stretches for twenty-five kilometres and is the perfect place where you can learn to water-ski, canoe, sail and windsurf. There are several beaches for swimming and restaurants with a wonderful choice of menus.

Châteauroux: For a day out shopping, Châteauroux has all the major supermarkets selling food, clothes, sports gear at Decathlon Not far is the ancient town of Montmorillon on the edge of the Gartempe with its 'Cite de L'Ecrit' - everything to do with the art of the book - there are also many historic churches to visit in this town along with a famous chocolatier Ranno-Metivier. The pretty town of Argenton-Sur-Creuse is well worth a visit and is only ten minutes away. The ancient houses sit on the banks of the river Creuse and the central square has a welcome café where you can sit out and watch the world go by in true French fashion.

About Laura Jordan

I was born in London then moved to Essex, which is where I grew up and met my husband who is from Durham. We are now a family of 4 and we live in Leigh on sea in Essex.

We were looking for a renovation project in 2001 and bought Le Boué in 2002 then lovingly restored it and developed the surrounding land. A lot of hard work, tantrums and tears were involved but it was worth it. We lived in this house for a few years while we renovated it, preparing it for rental. Our young children attended the local village school. We still visit Le Boué for our family holidays; it holds many happy memories for us.

Why Laura Jordan chose Vigoux

Le Boué is remote, surrounded by beautiful countryside and we saw a fabulous sunset over the valley when we viewed it. We fell in love with the place! It teams with wildlife; there are many birds in the garden (Barn owls, swallows, hoopoes, black redstarts) . There are deer (you have to be up early in the morning to see them!), hares and rabbits hopping around.

What makes this farmhouse unique

It is so accessible, remote and tranquil but you would never believe how close the access from the main motorway route is (the A20 which goes south to Toulouse). As you exit the motorway you weave through the country lanes, deeper and deeper and it's like you fall upon a secret location! No neighbours except for the wildlife! Sitting on the deck overlooking the private fishing lake, watching the sunset in the valley, you forget about everything and just relax. Or lounge around Solar Heated pool til dusk. It is totally private and is for the sole use of the party staying at the property. What more could you want for a great 'away-from-it-all' holiday.

A perfect location for a peaceful vacation

A well maintained, clean, well equipped and relaxing property with lots of activities for all ages - pool, darts, trampoline, pétanque and lots of indoor games. Loads to do locally and we ventured to a chateau and zoo. Can't really fault anything and would thoroughly recommend it. Thank you Laura!

Off the beaten track, or so you would think!

Arrival straightforward and gate opened without problems, however bottomed the car on the lane up to the gate and track leading to house so if your car is laden take care. Other than that the house was superb in every way and could not be faulted, the gardens very extensive and very well kept, plenty of space to lose yourself in. The pond seemed overgrown compared to the pictures and there was very little water however plenty of wild life had made their home including frogs, snakes and a family of very timid Water Rail. If I owned this house I would be very proud and so must you Laura. Brilliant week regardless of the weather.

Beautiful, isolated house with everything you could need to get away from it all.

We have stayed at a fair few isolated farmhouses in France over the years none more so than this one. One and a half miles from the main road and quite a away from neighbours bar the cows of course in the surrounding fields.

Wonderful to watch the birds swooping about the lake and pool with them chattering to each other all day.

The house is very well appointed with two en-suite bathrooms and a lovely downstairs bathroom with corner bath and modern shower.

A large dining room which could easily sit 10/12, not that we used it as there were only two of us for the week.

Supermarket and Boulangerie are as you can imagine a car ride away but we were happy to do infrequent shops when we were out an about.

If you have teenagers then the Wifi will probably drive them potty, being so isolated its very slow so don't expect to be able to stream anything but for just keeping in touch (if you want to) then its fine.

Our only niggle of the week was the pool which need a really good clean but something easily fixed.

Attractive rural property

After leaving the main road onto a farm track you reach a metal gate on your left in half km. Following the track through the gate leads you to the property. A lovely rural house set in a large peaceful garden with a lovely big pond. The house was very spacious for the 4 of us. The downstairs living and dinning area is large, with lots of local books, fiction and games. If you have sky, bring your card. There's an Xbox, but bring your own games, we couldn't find any. A lovely piano but in dire need of a tune. Doors opening on both sides keep it cool in the heat. Wifi was good whilst we were there.

We used the downstairs bedroom as it was private and cool, with doors opening straight out onto the garden. Upstairs are 3 bedrooms with two more bathrooms. They are spacious and comfortable, just beware of a wasps nest that keeps returning to the wood on the middle bedroom window. It does get very hot upstairs when the weather is nice, we'd suggest the owners get an air con unit.

Outside is huge with a superb pond, overgrown now, which is great as it brings in the most wonderful wildlife. Sit of an evening and watch dozens of grey wagtails come in to roost, shortly following by bats whizzing over. Didn't see any fish and the little jetty is locked as it's not safe, but there are dozens of frogs and dragon flies and a few very shy wildfowl!

The pool is wonderful on hot days with roman steps and a nice shallow area, plenty of seating and a pool shower. Tip from the caretaker - if it's hot keep the pool cover off, because as we found out, the pool goes green! He came very promptly though to sort it out, although I'd suggest he needs to come more than once a week to give it a check and clean.

Sadly we couldn't use the bikes at the beginning of the holiday, when the weather was cool as the key had been lost, once sorted the weather improved - hurray!

I feel the photos of the property are accurate, apart from being I'd say, a decade old.

The area is pretty, I'd highly recommend the local bakers in Bazaiges, but get there early if you want any croissants. Argenton has a few restaurants worth trying, we enjoyed a great evening market there. If you want to eat at Vigoulais check the opening times first, we took a chance and found it shut. Lac Eguzon was great fun, we took a fun ride in an electric boat around the lake. We thoroughly enjoyed canoeing from Crozant for a couple of hours.

I'd recommend this property for a true taste of rural France.

Absolutely delightful Easter at Le Boué

Just had a great Easter and a fantastic 2 weeks here at this beautiful holiday home in the Loire Valley. The location is very peaceful, although still close to major towns, beautiful scenery and water skiing at the lake d'Eguzon at Chambon.

The house is superb, the rooms are all great size, and equiped to a high standard, and it was useful to have the wi-fi and a huge curved 50 inch tv! The grounds are also lovely, plenty of area to play a small game of cricket or boules With superb 10 metre pool and huge terrace with beds and solar heated!!!

The weather for the 2 weeks was incredible, for Easter, all sunny days except the day we went home!

We recommend the kayaking along the river at Lake Chambon The cafe on the beach was also great.

In Argenton the Le Petit Roy restaurant at Le Menoux is great at Lunchtime and on the river bank...

Le Brenne National Park. Futuroscope, The Haute Touche animal park at Azay-Le-Ferron was fantastic, safari drive .

A peaceful haven but still loads to do! It was a great family holiday and the trampoline was awesome and huge! Thank you

Relaxing holiday in paradise!

We had a fantastic week at Le Boué - only wish it could have been longer. This is our 3rd time returning here at different times of the year. Everything was just as we'd hoped for and more.. a welcome gift of bottle of wine to start the holiday after a long journey...Beds made up and lovely and clean. beautiful farmhouse with a stunning garden and lake ...and so quiet deep in the countryside surrounded by fields and the valley with a great sunset... and relaxing yet close to a main road for access. It was just right for our family (8 of us in our party) suited everyone from my 80 yr old mother who needed a downstairs bedroom and bathroom to our two little grand-sons who thought it was all great...especially the

huge trampoline and pool. The whole house and garden is very well equipped - and the bikes are a plus too. The caretaker, Stuart was very helpful as was the housekeeper Heather. Great local restaurants in Argenton and a bakers at Bazaiges All in all, a great family holiday to remember - a beautiful place to spend time together.. ;-D

Vigoux is about 8 miles from Argenton-sur-Creuse, a large town rich in medieval history with local bars, shops and restaurants, (TGV Train stops at Argenton and is only 10mins away). The picturesque villages of Saint Benoît du Sault, and Gargilesse, are only a short distance away (approx 6 miles).

Châteaux are within close proximity for visiting, one of which is visible from the property.

Limoges and Poitiers international airports are approx 50 miles away.

Vigoux is on the edge of The Brenne National Park. The Brenne is a diverse area with over a 1000 lakes, ideal for nature trails, fishing, cycling and horse riding, also there is a good restaurant at the main entrance (La Maison de la Brenne).

Châteauroux is a large main town (approx 25 miles away) with lots of major shops and also there is a beautiful golf course.

The beach at the lake in Eguzon is only 20 min by car.
