About Don and Sandy Oliver

Our family has been vacationing on Black Point Road for over 80 years, building first in the 50s, and replacing the original cottage in 1999, 50 years later for an expanding family, with a modern home but replicating much of the charm of an 'Adirondack Camp' of times gone by. Nestled in the pine/hemlock/birch with spectacular views, it is enjoyed now by the 4th generation. We would like you too, to enjoy this unique spot.

Don and Sandy Oliver purchased this house in 1949

Why Don and Sandy Oliver chose Lake George

4 bedrooms and 2 baths (or as an option 5 bedrooms and 3 baths, contact owner for pricing as well as a linen option) give the renter a great deal of space and flexibility for their family or group. There are two living areas adjacent to one another (LR & DR) with an eight foot insulated glass slider, should some wish to have quiet time in the living room and board games or TV in the dining room yet maintaining a very open feeling throughout the cottage. Natural light floods the space. The kitchen is very well equipped for cooking for a big group and there is plenty of eating space. The kitchen has a nice flow into either the dining room or living room.

Option 1 (4 BR/2B) offers about 2400 sq ft

on 2 floors and

Option 2 (5 BR/3B) about 2750 sq ft on 3 floors.

Air conditioning is available for the main floor and upper floor bedrooms. (The additional charge would need to be discussed with the owners.)

The main floor entrance requires only two steps from your car, for groceries and luggage.

What makes this house unique

The front deck offers a nice place for morning coffee with the newspaper or a book. Adirondack chairs, picnic table, gas grill and firepit close to the lake keep everyone close by for many laughs and great pictures. Snug Harbor Marina a provider of many types of motor craft is 4 miles up the road toward Ti. Two Kayaks are provided for renters use

Notes:
Renters should be aware that there are no reliable cell towers servicing this area due to the mountain topography. Cell service is available in Ticonderoga. There is an option for one third-level bedroom and bath for an additional $550.00 per week. In 2017, as part of the rental agreement, the renters must agree to allowing access to the cottage no more than twice during a week between 10:30AM and 4:00PM for the realtor to show a potential buyer the cottage. The renter need not vacate the property nor be required to straighten up. Further, the realtor, as a courtesy, will call and give a minimum two hours notice to the renter, directly or by voice recorder; should there be no answer or recorder on, the realtor may still show the cabin during these hours . UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE SHOULD THE RENTER ALLOW A "DROP-IN" access to "look." An agent, properly identified, of the Alison V. Craig Realty firm will accompany the potential buyer.

Great spot for family vacation

  • 5 of 5

We rented Kenikee for a weeklong getaway for a 2 families with young kids (ages 2-7) and 2 sets of grandparents. We had a great time. It was our first time staying at Lake George, though we visited a few of its villages a few years ago. The lake itself is fantastic. If you can get out on a boat, the lake is just magnificent. My dad didn't want to leave and was talking about whether we could rent the place for two weeks next year or the year after. The house was great as well; our kids spent most of the week on the dock or in the kayaks or my dad's boat. Great swimming and wading area by the dock. We had a pretty major issue with our boat engine that warranted a repair and Snug Harbor marine folks (8 minutes up the road) had it back to us in 36 hours. The house was well appointed and has a good kitchen for cooking (with good kitchenware as well!). Great sitting space out by the lake. Incredible sunsets. Very close to Ticonderoga and an easy drive to many attractions. Lots to do, and close to Vermont as well. Really a great counterpoint to the busy spots on the southern part of the lake. You wouldn't know you're on the same lake as Lake George village, but you can still get to the tourist areas easily if you like. It was just what we wanted and we'd definitely stay again.

Wonderful Lake Front Property

  • 4 of 5

What a terrific place to enjoy the lake! Our family liked the décor and Adirondack feel of the cabin, and that we could all be together in the upper level to relax and take in the views of the lake. The dock made it very easy to hop on the pontoon boat we rented to spend hours fishing, tubing and finding new places to hike. The owners were easy to work with and very attentive to all of our questions. We are already talking about coming back next year.
