Very Good

The cottage is very clean and well stocked. The location is only a few blocks from downtown and close to the beach which was nice for our family vacation with three kids. Things we did not enjoy were the very uncomfortable beds (too short for my 6’1 husband), black ants all over the kitchen even with ant traps all over the floor, and the dated outlets that would not charge electronics. The host was very communicative and available to answer our questions so over all a nice vacation.

Thank you for your feedback, Janie! It's an old home, so I'm not sure to what extent improvements can be made to things like the electric, but updates are definitely possible, so we'll do our best!
Good location, and walkability. Short drive to beach, but could have walked. House had beach chairs and towels, and everything we needed for our weekend stay. Very cozy and comfortable.

Thank you for your kind feedback, Julie! All About Town is conveniently located to everything you could do in downtown Charlevoix! Come back anytime!
Well stocked, well appointed, and well within walking distance of the beach and downtown.
The cottage was a welcome, safe, and lovely place to return to after a long day at the beach.
More of a comment on Charlevoix itself: the city's sidewalks are inconsistent and walking in the road with kids and fast neighborhood traffic can be a little dicey.
Thank you, wonderful hosts!

We're pleased to hear you felt safe and comfortable at All About Town! Charlevoix can be a pretty exciting place, with some interesting festivals and a robust farmers market on Thursdays. Glad to hear you enjoyed your trip. Thank you so much for your feedback!
Overall we enjoyed our stay. I will start with suggestions. The keyless entry was a pain. The first couple of days we just didn’t realize how it works (only a few numbers light up and you have to press them before the whole keypad lights up and then you enter your code) Once we figured that out we thought it was going to be good but, not so much. It didn’t always lock or unlock and we had to use the physical key to get in and out. The host was very helpful and suggested it may need a battery change. That didn’t seem to work unfortunately. Also, we didn’t realize that the garage and yard across the alley was part of the property. We were crammed into the small driveway with our truck, boat, grill, and chairs for the start of our week. A heads up on the lay out would have been nice. On top of these things the first couple of days, the temperature was upper 80’s and we could not cool the house down. We were miserable. We got lucky and the temps dropped after that and it was very nice. A window unit would make all the difference if that’s something you can do. The pluses, the house was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and it’s a cute cozy little house. The location was great too. Easy to walk to town and an ice cream place is just around the corner. We enjoyed our week vacation!! Thank you very much!

Sorry to hear about your frustrations...all of this information was included in the guest guide, which you received before your stay and is accessible from a sign posted inside the unit right when you walk in. We have video instructions on how to use the lock (there's also a QR code on the door that takes you right to this video on how the lock works). The weird digits lighting up feature is a security feature so that intruders can't guess the code from the fingerprints of previous guests. The guest guide also tells you all about the parking area in front of the garage and informs you that the lock unfortunately dies pretty easily, which is why there's an included lockbox with a spare key and extra batteries accessible to you for when this occurs. The owner has been in contact with the lock company and has already replaced it once, but we chose to proactively include contingency measures so as not to disrupt guest stays. I'm sorry...we try really hard to make sure guests don't miss this information. That's why it's posted in so many places - texts, email notifications that you're receiving this information, and the stand inside the unit. I'm glad I could walk you through this on the phone at least! I am truly sorry about the heat experienced during your stay. We'd rather have air conditioning too...this feedback will definitely be shared with the owner. Thank you for your time and your trust!
Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, Mary! Air conditioning was not an advertised amenity, which we do state in the listing description. Sorry about the spiders! Try as we might, we are not able to control nature. Spiders do sometimes slip in, though we do check for and clear webs and spiders between guests.
This house was rented to accommodate guests from out of town who were coming to Charlevoix to visit us (full-time residents of CVX). The house had plenty of space for two couples & one child. It was clean and well appointed. Spacious laundry room, comfortable beds, well stocked with daily essentials. It’s located just a few blocks from downtown CVX and the marina (and close to our house!!!). The house is not air-conditioned and can get a little too warm if it’s sunny & 70 degrees outside. It would benefit from a couple of window a/c units, which might also alleviate the slightly musty smell. Exterior maintenance could be better - lots of weeds & and the gutters desperately need cleaned. Slight hiccup at check-in: we were given the wrong code for the keyless entry. Having said that, our guests enjoyed their stay very much.

Reviewer Comments:
Walkable location. House is small but well equipped. It met our needs. Dog friendly. Had 2 dogs with us and worked out nicely.
We have contacted this guest because we met with her a couple of times in person during her stay and had lovely conversations and were not expecting this review. She confirmed that she did not intend to leave a poor review and was going to ask VRBO to have it removed. We believe it might be due to her starting but never finishing the review, and then when the review period expired, this posted automatically. We had discussed the possibility of renting more properties with us in the future, and still look forward to doing so. She was a wonderful guest and left the property in great shape. We would definitely welcome her back. :)
